AB - The pantograph’s purpose is to transfer electrical power from the overhead contact line to the train’s electric propulsion unit. To perform its function adequately, it is necessary to maintain the static contact force between the pantograph and the contact line within the values prescribed by appropriate standards for the entire extension range of the pantograph. The requirement to reach high contact lines complicates the kinematic scheme because the deviation of the trajectory of the pantograph’s collector head from vertical is also prescribed by standards. Further, the structural design of the pantograph is challenging because the greater slenderness ratio of the structure makes it difficult to meet the requirements in terms of stiffness and resistance to vibrations. While at low speeds aerodynamic forces are usually neglected, in high-speed pantographs, they have a significant impact and it is necessary to compensate for them. An aggravating circumstance is the
requirement that the pantograph should work in both knuckle-downstream and knuckle-upstream directions. This paper aims to present the development of a high-speed high–reach pantograph that is developed through the cooperation of company Minel General Electric and the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Mechanical Engineering as well as to present innovative designs of
gravitational and aerodynamical compensations that enabled the satisfaction of requested requirements in terms of geometric and static performance.

AB - Polypropylene (PP) is a relatively new material in fused deposition modeling
(FDM) technology. The main feature of this material is its ability to significantly elongate under
applied load, unlike any other thermoplastic material used in FDM technology. Not much research has been conducted on this FDM material so far, hence, the subject of this paper is the
investigation of printing parameters’ influence on PP tensile properties. Targeted parameters are
layer height, infill density, and the orientation of raster lines, resulting in four different manufacturing regimes. To have a better insight into the experimental results, the data are analysed using ANOVA statistical method with Tukey HSD post hoc test. Obtained statistical results have proven the printing parameter’s influence on tensile results, emphasizing the influence on elastic modulus. Here, Tukey test results show the maximal number of homogeneous subsets evidencing that all printing parameters have an influence on elastic modulus values.

AB - Innovation is often described as the main driving force of business, which can lead to the company's sustainable growth. Not all innovation dimensions are equally responsible for the sustainability of businesses. Therefore, this study examines the sustainability of women-owned businesses by exploring the influence of selected variables on specific dimensions of companies' innovation capacities. Based on the commonly applied methodologies for assessing the innovation capacity of companies such as IMP³rove and Innovate, the following variables were chosen for the analysis of the impact on innovation in the context of the sustainability of SMEs: 1) annual income and its impact on the decision to invest in innovation 2) the sector of operation and its influence on expectations regarding growth 3) the expectations regarding growth and its impact to a range of innovation dimensions. Different techniques were used, starting with descriptive statistics, then Cross-tabulation, Pearson's chi-square test and ANOVA as the most appropriate techniques to conduct statistical analysis. The research has indicated that annual income does not have a decisive influence on the decision to invest in innovation, as does the sector. However, the sector of operations has a significant influence on expectations regarding growth. Also, there is a statistically significant difference between growth expectations and dimensions such as client base and product development plan, market awareness and perception, innovation strategy, decision-making process, employee training, business networking, and external advice. While exploring the innovation activity of launching new products/services, we came to a finding that is potentially risky for the sustainability of women’s businesses, namely that 50% of the companies in the sample offer only one product to one customer. That is why it is important that companies that have a high awareness of the need to innovate diversify their product and client portfolio and thus ensure greater independence on the market and, therefore, sustainability.

AB - The phenomenon of ductile-to-brittle transition (DBT) in ferritic steels, widely used in design of nuclear reactor pressure vessels, has been a pervasive semi-centennial research topic. Due to the extremely pronounced experimental data scatter, the statistical approach to characterization of this problem has become inevitable from the earliest analyses. In the present study, the fracture toughness parameters derived from the EURO fracture toughness dataset for 22NiMoCr37 reactor steel are used with the aim to explore the utility of the recently proposed two-step-scaling method. Two widely different temperatures (-154 °C and -91 °C; belonging to the lower shelf and the DBT transition regions of fracture toughness, in respect) are selected to demonstrate the accuracy of extrapolation and interpolation of the fracture toughness CDF (cumulative distribution function) and the pertinent issues related to the method application. The fracture toughness measure used is the critical value of the stress intensity factor used in the master curve KJc (MPa√m). The obtained predictions are in good agreement with the experimental results and well within the inherent experimental data scatter. The prediction of the fracture toughness CDF obtained by extrapolation using the novel two-step-scaling method is reasonably conservative.

AB - During the last couple of decades, there was a definitive increase in the need for process safety control due to working conditions and systems becoming more complex, up to a point where the existing methodologies could no longer provide satisfying results. Hence, the topic of this paper involves the development of an original methodology for risk assessment of pressure equipment, based on fracture mechanics and the influence of human and organizational factors. This methodology resulted from the systemization of existing knowledge in the filed of process safety, innovations and integration of existing tools and models for risk assessment, as well as from improvements in working with pressure equipment in general and combining of above approaches with fracture mechanics, which allowed the solving of main issues that existed in these fields. This was achieved by establishing and verifying new methodologies and models, with particular focus on simplicity and adaptability to practical application, along with solving of problems related to the lack of systematic and practical approach to assessing of the influence of human and organizational factors on risk. In order to verify the newly proposed methodology, a case study was conducted in Serbia, related to Bajina Bašta hydropower plant, which confirmed the accuracy and simplicity of the methodology in question. It was shown that the application of this methodology enabled a systematic approach to quantitative risk assessment for pressure equipment in any and all companies which work with such equipment, regardless of their size or field of work. Thus, it was concluded that the proposed methodology has offered valuable insights, both to the scientific and public communities, through its improvement of process safety.

AB - In the constantly changing business environment, innovations enable companies to achieve competitiveness and expand to new markets. Measuring a company’s ability to innovate is important for both theoretical consideration and practical application. This paper presents the analysis of 21 dimensions of the innovation capacity of small and medium enterprises in Serbia. The observed sample included 106 companies of various size and activities. The following main factors that affect the innovation capacity of companies had been identified: adaptability and growth projection, business network, management style, knowledge management, company resources and the speed of product development for the market. The identified factors were used to predict the future of the company’s cooperation with the academy, and whether the company will undertake activities to protect intellectual property rights, which are both considered important parts of the innovation process in companies. The results of the research indicate the important factors that determine a company’s survival in modern market conditions. It was obtained that companies with a developed business network are more willing to cooperate with the academic community, while the management style has the greatest influence on the protection of intellectual property.

AB - The innovation of companies is of vital importance because it allows them to penetrate markets and provides better connections with emerging markets, which can lead to greater
opportunities. Measuring innovation is an important activity both for theoretical and practical
tests. This paper presents research on the innovation capacities of small and medium enterprises in Serbia according to the model consisting of 21 dimensions. The observed sample consists of
106 companies, of different sizes, whose activities are grouped into production and service activities. Similarities and differences in the innovative capacities of companies concerning their activity and in relation to their size were analyzed. The results of the research indicate the main problems that small and medium-sized enterprises are facing in order to improve their innovative capacities such as the market horizon, inadequate management systems, short-term planning, and
insufficient connectivity with partners and academia.

AB - Research Question: This article identifies the most prominent lean wastes in the education process in primary schools in Serbia and the most efficient lean tools for their reduction. Objective: Lean management has been recognized as a valuable strategy suitable for application in various fields. Its implementation in the field of education has shown a rather slow progress, and the Serbian education system is not an exception. Idea: The idea of the research was to investigate the possible outcomes of the lean management implementation in primary schools in Serbia, and its possible benefits. Data: For this purpose, a specialized questionnaire concerning lean wastes and lean tools was designed intended for class and subject teachers. Tools: Statistical data analyses were used to determine the relationships between variables, and the Weighted Scoring method was applied to identify the most represented lean wastes in the education process, as well as the prioritization of lean tools. Findings: According to the results, the factor of the lean tools impact in regard to the lean wastes reduction was evaluated as “higher than 3” (on a scale of 1-5), which confirmed the efficiency of the considered lean tools in the lean wastes reduction. Also, the significant differences between the public and the private education sectors in terms of the lean application are shown, especially regarding the type of curriculum present (national or international). Contribution: The research has shown that lean management could be successfully applied in primary schools, in order to improve school organization and the teaching process flow, which highly contributes to the school's overall competitiveness. The guidelines for the lean management implementation are given as well as the recommendations to the creators of education policies. Certain limitations should be taken into account, regarding the restricted number of schools involved and specific sample group.

AB - Structural integrity and life assessment of oil rig pipes using analytical method is presented and applied to an oil drilling rig pipe. The new concept based on risk evaluation according to probability and consequence of failure is used. Analytical expressions for surface cracks, provided by Raju and Newman, are used to calculate stress intensity factors for different crack geometries. Furthermore, the rig welded pipe failure probability is estimated by simple application of the Failure Assessment Diagram (FAD) and used together with potential consequences to evaluate the risk level by application of risk matrix. The same logic is employed in the case of cyclic loading, i.e. fatigue crack growth, by using Paris law to calculate crack length depending on the number of cycles. Simple numerical integration is applied to take into account the change of the geometry parameter Y due to increasing depth of a surface crack.

AB - This study is aimed to analyse fatigue life of orthopedic plates due to cracks initiated in the stress concentration areas. Material used for this analysis was typical orthopedic alloy, Ti-6Al-4V, strong but not very ductile, meaning also sensivite to cracking, as indicated by its mechanical properties, such as tensile strength, impact toughness and fracture toughness, as well as by high fatigue crack rate, all of them tested and analysed here. Extended finite element method (XFEM) in ANSYS software was used for simulating the fatigue crack growth in 5 orthopedic plates with different geometries. Results for crack length and stress intensity factor vs. number of cycles are given, indicating plate D as the best option regarding residual life. Crack paths are analysed in all 5 plates to explain such a behaviour, indicating benefits of initial crack growth into length, followed by growth into depth. Also, the effect of geometry of plates is considered to explain differences in life predictions for 5 different plates.

AB - Corrosion effects on structural integrity and life of oil rig welded pipes are analysed by experimental, analytical, and numerical methods. Experiments were performed using standard tensile specimens and CT specimens for static loading, Charpy specimens for impact loading, and 3 Point Bending specimens for fatigue crack growth with amplitude loading. In each case new and old pipes were used to evaluate corrosion effects. Results indicated negligible corrosion effects in the case of tensile properties and impact toughness, and strong effects in the case of fracture toughness and especially fatigue crack growth rates, increasing the risk of static failure and reducing significantly structural life. Analytical expressions are used for oil rig pipe structural integrity and life assessment to quantify these effects. Recently introduced risk-based approach is applied to analyse oil rig drill pipe with a corrosion defect treated as a surface crack.

AB - This paper presents a review of different approaches through history concerning DTB transition phenomenon of ferritic steels and their characterization using FM concept, from the earliest studies based on LEFM to the application of the EPFM concept. The large scattering of the experimental fracture toughness data, characteristic of all ferritic steels in the transition temperature region, has imposed the need of including statistical methods for data processing. Such approach that began in the 1970s can be encountered even nowadays as the base of fracture toughness data interpretation in DTB problems. An overview of studies with statistical interpretation of experimental data in the transition temperature region is also given. Aforementioned provides a foundation for novel approaches in DTB transition problems, which include size effects and scaling of geometrically similar specimens.

AB - Stress corrosion crack growth in mild steel was investigated by using the finite element simulation method. A model simulating crack growth considered an edge crack located on the metal surface, under tensile remote stress acting on a sample. Numerical analysis was performed using the Code _Aster software to simulate crack growth. Three related variables were evaluated. K, dK/da and maximum stress. Values of these variables were recorded every 2 mm of the crack growth. Results showed an increase in the values of K and maximum stress, while there was a decrease in the values of dK/da, as the crack length increased. There was a good agreement between the results obtained analytically in the literature and numerically obtained here by using finite elements. The results obtained here are consistent with what has been obtained in most of the studies that have been conducted in this regard.

AB - This study is aimed to explain the behaviour of different orthopedic plate designs, under uniaxial bending, with cracks initiated in the stress concentration areas. Extended finite element method (XFEM) in ANSYS software was used for simulating the fatigue crack growth in 5 orthopedic plates with different geometries. Results for crack length vs, plate geometry indicated plate D as the best option regarding residual life. Crack paths are analysed in all 5 plates to explain such a behaviour, indicating benefits of initial crack growth into length, followed by growth into depth.

AB - The quality of the teaching process highly depends on teachers and their qualifications, and the teacher's role plays a very important part in the implementation of the new teaching methods. The results presented in this paper are part of the quantitative study which investigated the primary teachers' perception of the online teaching model that has been realized in Serbia during the COVID-19 pandemic, in comparison to the traditional teaching model. The paper aims to define and present the teachers' profiles, based on their preference for a certain teaching model: the profile of the teachers who prefer working in the traditional teaching model, and the profile of the teachers who prefer working in the online teaching model, or do not make any difference between the two, based on the professional data and their statements and attitudes regarding the comparison of traditional and online teaching models. It was assumed that the teachers with less work experience, more professional training and higher education level would generally prefer the online teaching model. For the research purposes, the specialized two-part questionnaire was designed. The first part included questions concerning the socio-demographic background, while the second part investigated the teachers' attitudes towards the characteristics of the teaching process in both traditional and online teaching models. The independent-sample t-test was used to estimate the influence of previous training on the choice of the preferred teaching model. The research was conducted during January and February 2021. The research sample included 609 examinees. The research results showed that the choice of the preferred teaching model depends on the self-assessment of the teachers' competencies required for the online teaching model, as well as on the duration of the training in the field of Information and Communication Technologies, as a part of the regular professional improvement training. The initial assumption was only partially confirmed by the research results.

AB - Poslednjih godina informaciono-komunikacione tehnologije (IKT) dobijaju sve značajnije
mesto u obrazovnom sistemu. Tehnološki razvoj zahteva unapređenje obrazovnog sistema i
osposobljavanje učenika za novu eru, ali ujedno predstavlja izazov, posebno za nastavnike. Usled
pandemije korona virusa obrazovni sistem Srbije se neočekivano i neplanirano, poput drugih
obrazovnih sistema širom sveta, našao pred obavezom da u najkraćem mogućem roku celokupni
obrazovno-vaspitni program realizuje putem udaljene online nastave.
nastave.

states in science, technology, and economy, and it plays an important role in the overall society development and socio-economic progress. In order to establish a high-quality, efficient education system, it is necessary to develop the teaching staff competences in accordance with the innovations in the education field. The quality of the teaching process largely depends on the extent to which modern teaching methods are applied, which are, in the contemporary context, based on the use of the information and communication technologies in the teaching process (ICT). Following the technology advancement and the information channels transformation, the role of the teacher has changed, and in this new context the teacher is assigned with a new role of the “teaching manager”, or the leader of the teaching process. This paper shows comparative analyses of the relations between the teaching stuff ICT training and the organization of the teaching process, when observed in traditional and online teaching settings. AB - Risk based approach to assess structural integrity and life of pressure vessel has been presented, starring from EU PED 2014/68 and API 581, ending with use of basic fracture mechanics parameters. In the scope of risk matrix, structural integrity has been tackled by use of the Failure Assessment Diagram (FAD), while structural life was assessed by means of Paris law, using fatigue crack growth rate as relevant parameter. Several case studies have been provided to illustrate this comprehensive approach, including penstock and air storage tanks in Reversable Hydro Power Plant, and two spherical storage tanks, one for vinyl chloride monomer (VCM), the other for ammonia. Besides the assessment of integrity and life, including some important issue like over-pressurizing, roles of engineers and managers in this process is defined and explained.

AB - Risk assessment procedure based on structural integrity evaluation has been applied to oil drilling rig pipe. The new concept based on application of structural integrity evaluation to assess risk level according to probability and consequence of failure was used. Analytical expressions for surface cracks are used to calculate stress intensity factors for different crack geometries. Oil drilling rig welded pipe integrity has been evaluated analytically by simple application of the Failure Assessment Diagramme (FAD), i.e. by using the ratio of linear elastic fracture mechanics parameter, KI, and its critical value, KIc, in relation with the ratio of applied stress and its critical value, to define the point in FAD. Probability of failure is then taken according to the position of the point in the FAD, corresponding to oil drilling rig welded pipe data. The same logic is employed in the case of cyclic loading, i.e. fatigue crack growth. In that case, structural life is estimated by using Paris law to calculate crack length vs. number of cycles, to be used in risk assessment procedure and by managers to make decision about further use of damaged pipes, based on data provided by engineers.

AB - Risk management aims to provide a controlled work environment to ensure the safe operation of the high-risk systems. It is a dynamic process which work in a continual state of change. The issue of human factor risk and rules and regulations in open pit mine is a main focus of this paper in order to develop predictive models of behavior of workers in relation to compliance with the procedures and rules. Presented survey was conducted in open pit coal mine, as high-risk system, involving 476 mineworkers. The survey was in the form of a questionnaire, consisting of approximately 45 questions. It aimed to find out the opinions of the mining workforce about risk attitude generally as well as about safety rules and regulations. The first goal was to determine factor with the biggest influence on risk of human factor. The second goal was creation model for prediction behavior of mining workers. The survey also aimed to examine: (a) major human risk factors at a specific open-pit mine site (b) mine workers' opinions about policies and procedures; (c) the manner in which mine safety rules and regulations are perceived and understood; (d) the frequency of deviation from rules and regulations; (e) attitudes related to risk taking and their interaction with rules and regulations; and (f) anticipate the behavior of mining workers with respect to compliance with policies and procedures. In addition, a case study is presented, related to failure of mining equipment, the SchRs 630 bucket wheel excavator, which had occurred due to excessive loads caused by a human factor, such as inadequate operation of the equipment. The goal here was to further relate the effects of the human factor to the structural integrity, by providing a reliable numerical model which could be used to determine the critical locations where failures could occur, and by combining this approach with the previously described risk analysis methodology, structure safety can be improved.

AB - Two artificial intelligence models for the integration of renewable energy
sources are developed within this research to contribute to the European Green Plan realization. The review of renewable energy natural potential, on one hand, and installed capacity, on the other hand, in the Western Balkans and twenty-eight European countries is done within this research, as well as emissions. The analyses show that the European countries, sometimes even with lower natural potential in renewables, have installed much more renewable capacities than the Balkans countries with much higher natural potential. According to this, the first artificial intelligence model is developed based on multi-criteria linear regression analysis. This model relies on the correlation between the relevant regressors, i.e. relevant input variables for twenty-eight European countries and the same regressors for a particular Balkans country. Its goal is to find the maximum possible integrative renewable capacity in a Balkans’s country within the real socio-economic environment. The second artificial intelligence model is developed based on multi-criteria evolution genetic algorithms. Its goal is to find the maximum possible integrative renewable capacity within a real electric power system. Nature-inspired optimization is applied. From the framework of a given large number of generations, technical combinations of the degree of renewable energy sources integration, the best populations, i.e. combinations are selected. As nature selects from many generations and allows the best to survive and punishes the „weakˮ, in our case, „weak” combinations are those failing to meet the given conditions and limitations of the real electric power system. A new methodology is offered. Theoretical general formulas are given for both models. Developed models are tested on a numerical experiment of solar energy integration in the Serbia case study. Analyses of sensitivity prove that both models are applicable for all renewable energy sources and countries or regions.

AB - In this paper, problem of mining machinery efficiency is considered through impact of different types of downtimes. New methodology is suggested based on comparison impact of mechanical and technological mining machinery time in fault (M-t, T-t) and mechanical and technological mining machinery downtime frequencies (M-f, T-f) on machine work done (W). Benchmarking analysis is conducted by pairing variables M-t-W, T-t-W, M-f-W and T-f-W, and determining relationships between observed variables. By comparing the increment of the cumulative downtime curve with the cumulative curve of the machine's operating volume, it can be assessed whether the observed downtime develops a concave or convex character of the operating volume cumulative curve, in respect to significant losses. Results indicate that the relationship between cumulative downtime curve and cumulative work done curve can successfully serve as a parameter for evaluating the impact of specific downtime on the efficiency of the machine. A multi-criteria analysis, namely, an analysis of the criteria - frequency and time spent in downtime for each of the observed causes of downtime, clearly determines the critical pattern of downtime on the efficiency of the observed machine.

abstract = "In this paper, problem of mining machinery efficiency is considered through impact of different types of downtimes. A multi-criteria analysis, namely, an analysis of the criteria - frequency and time spent in downtime for each of the observed causes of downtime, clearly determines the critical pattern of downtime on the efficiency of the observed machine.",
