AB - Energy efficiency is one of the most important research subjects in the process of optimal utilization of energy and water for food production, taking care of the environment. This is the requirement of efficient production and use of green renewable energy within the nexus water-energy-food-environment. Increasing number of inhabitants on the Globe require more energy, water and food. All technologies for energy, water and food production mast respect the criteria of environmental protection. The hydro, solar and wind energy are renewable resources and on the same time they are one of the most sustainable ways of electric energy production. Besides the benefit of clean green energy, the landscape of big solar or wind power plants, or big hydro accumulation and their impact on the environment mast also be the subject for analyses. The aspect of land occupying is a cutting edge research in correlation with the complex goal of using land for food production. This paper presents a green solution for management of the nexus water-energy-food-environment, using renewable resources.

AB - The main subject of this manuscript is mountain streams used by construction of small hydro power plants. The motivation for this research stemmed from a number of conflicting opinions about the justification of the construction of small hydropower plants and their facilities. This research encompasses different methods for the analysis of the justification of the construction of a small hydropower plant, starting from tradition in correlation with water mills, through a techno-economic approach to a complex multi-criteria research model. All methods are represented by objective formulas. World experiences are also presented, through the level of potential utilization, compared to the degree of development. The possible positive and negative impacts of the construction of such facilities for the exploitation of the potential of small watercourses were analyzed. After the conducted research, and with respect to the principle of minimum energy, which has become the paradigm of modern civilization, it can be concluded that using the potential of small watercourses by building small hydropower plants belongs to the domain of using renewable energy sources and that it is a function of sustainable development. Decision makers are recommended to exclusively apply a multi-criteria methodology, which can holistically include all technical, economic, environmental, social and other non-profitable but important impacts.

AB - Terrain as a geological environment is an important factor in the creation of spatial planning
documentation. It is observed on the surface of the terrain from the aspect of geomorphological formation as
well as directly below the surface of the terrain from the aspect of its geological structure.
All plans, which can be strategic or executive documents, of a higher or lower order, are based on the
natural environment. The geological environment, as a working and living environment and as a medium of
geological resources, represents one of the basic criteria for quality use, that is, planning and reserving space for
the realization of the contents outlined in the plan.
Deficiencies related to the geological environment that arise during the development or realization of
the plan leave permanent or temporary devastation of the environment, and often also the endangerment of
buildings either as a result of geological or modern engineering geological processes.

AB - The South Morava River is very important resource for the City of Vranje. Its water serves for irrigation of agricultural land and for drinking, so the water quality and its environmental status is of great importance. Water quality control in the South Morava is done on a monthly basis by chemical and physical methods. Controlling is done at two measuring points from which the samples are taken, namely the village of Mezgraje, near the Railway Bridge, and the site of Mramora Novo Selo. Tests of water samples from the South Morava River included determination of: general parameters, nutrients, salinity, organic substances and microbiological parameters. Measured values of the investigated physicochemical parameters at the sampling location at Mezgraja village level, with the Railway Bridge, dominantly correspond to class I, except for BOD5 corresponding to class V, HPC corresponding to class IV, TOC, phenolic compounds and total nitrogen corresponding to class II, nitrites, orthophosphates, ammonium ion, copper and iron content corresponding to Class III,. At the same location, the measured values of microbiological parameters correspond to Class IV. The water of South Morava River, from the physico-chemical aspect, has a mixed excellent to poor environmental status, while from a microbiological point of view it has a moderate environmental status at Mramor (Novo Selo) or poor ecological status at the level of the village of Mezgraja, at the Railway Bridge. The results of the water quality control tests show that the water is nutrient-poor and has microbiological parameters present in MPN/100 ml.

AB - Mining is one of the technology processes which significantly affect the environment. Contemporary science is
often focused on renewable resources, but non renewable resources and their mining are also present and deserve more
intense research, due to its complex role in the economy. On the other point of view, non renewable resources as mining
products are necessary to maintain and improve the life quality level. This conflict is not sustainable in long term
perspective. From the aspect of sustainable development the primary task is to ensure the development right for future
generations. It means that intensive level of interdisciplinary research is necessary to provide initial conditions
(available reserve of ore) and utilization dynamic of mineral resources. This paper analyzes some aspects of
correlation between sustainable development and mining. Mathematical model that describes the mentioned ideas is
developed in this manuscript, including the conflict of economic goals, principles of environmental protection and

innovative solutions of sustainable development of urban areas and cleaner environment. Due to inequality between the
developed and undeveloped parts on the regions and countries, big migrations are happening. The result is recognized
in overcrowded cities. Concentration of people on small areas produces serious negative consequences on the
environment and the quality of the life. This paper aims to point out innovative models of cities from the perspective of
sustainable development. New population migrations, relating to their elementary and civilization needs require better
solutions. Holistic concept of blue green cities is the latest and the most advanced stage in sustainable development for
urban areas. Different renewable energy implementation models and principals of circular economy up to zero waste
are researched in this manuscript, representing support of the main idea of blue green cities.

development. Sustainability is necessary to be obtained in the education process in civil
engineering too. The results created within educational institutions have a long term
impact on society development. Civil engineering is important branch of economic
development. A knowledge base derived from the experience of built facilities creates
significant competitive advantage on the market. From the other side the benefits for the
whole society, created by knowledge, are available during the complete life cycle of
constructed object. If knowledge is concerned as one of sources of value in civil
engineering then its continuous improvement and development in civil engineering
projects is imperative of vital importance. The main goal of this manuscript is to present
the aspects of skills and knowledge acquisition and their improvement of civil and related
professions. The goal was also to develop methodology for efficient problem solving in
civil engineering and science and also to find the effective approach in sustainable
utilization of available resources, as the first condition for advances in science and

AB - The buildability in an energy-efficient (passive) design is crucial. Low-energy and passive
household designs are getting ubiquitous. The target is to design sustainably urban
quarters, and residential and social housings, which are led by climate protection and less
energy consumption principles. These building principles get deeper with the years
passing by. The new building materials define new architectonic forms, new building
technologies, and ways of using them. The focus is also the up-build with 3D printing
technologies. Prefabricated 3D building elements and 3D layering on building sites is a
fast building technology, which breaks through internationally. With 3D printing applied
in civil engineering, the building molds are obtained.

simulate on the most adequate way all the conditions and restrictions, requirements and
conflicting interests of one energy system. The main goal of the optimization of one energy
system is to find an optimal operation mode at the present stage, and to research possible
future optimal installation from the aspect of cost and sustainability, considering technical
and economical criteria, as well as emission and other environmental criteria. Different
scenarios of introducing renewable power plant in a whole energy system of one country
are developed. Evolutionary multiple objective genetic algorithms are applied. The results
of such artificial intelligence model show the maximal economy, technical and

and their mining are also present and deserve more intense research, due to its complex role in
the economy. Mining is one of the technology processes which significantly affect the
environment. On the other point of view, non renewable resources as mining products are
necessary to maintain and improve the life quality level. This conflict is not sustainable in long
term perspective. From the aspect of sustainable development the primary task is to ensure the
development right for future generations. It means that intensive level of interdisciplinary
research is necessary to provide initial conditions (available reserve of ore) and utilization
dynamic of mineral resources. This paper analyzes some aspects of correlation between
sustainable development and mining. Mathematical model that describes the mentioned ideas

development of cities and cleaner environment. The contemporary economy paradigm is
globalization. Due to inequality between the developed and undeveloped parts on the regions
and countries, big migrations are happening. The result is recognized in overpopulated urban
areas. Concentration of people on small areas produces serious negative consequences on the
environment and the quality of the life. This paper aims to point out innovative models of cities
from the perspective of sustainable development. New population migrations, relating to their
elementary and civilization needs require better solutions. Concept of blue green cities,
renewable energy implementation models and principals of circular economy up to zero waste

significant resource of every country. They are typically torrential in their most
upstream part and can cause extensive damage to downstream landscapes. Proper
strategic management of all resources is the basis of the development of any
society. The water is an essential material for the life, environment and economy.
That is why the main subject of this research is small watercourses and modalities
of their strategic management, with a special attention to environmental and social
impacts. This manuscript cover the review of the hydro potential of small courses in
different countries, as well as the level of their usage and experiences. Main positive
and negative environmental and social impacts are explained. The multicriteria
methodology is offered as a support for decision makers, with the goal to reach the

AB - To address the question of weather stands are managed sustainably in the Novi Pazar region (Southwest Serbia), this study compares the quantity of standing wood biomass in the Debeljak-Medenovac unit at the beginning and end of a ten year study period. The ecological and energy value of wood biomass as compared with other types of fuel were evaluated. The carbon credit benefits for the area of studied forest management unit were also estimated. The results show that in the study period the planned cutting volume was in line with the volume planned within the ten-year plan. The data obtained and calculated from the measurements indicate an increase in volume at the end of the study period. The wood volume exploited over this period amounted to an average of 2361,20 m3/year, i.e. 96,51% of the planned cutting volume, meaning that not all of the planned volume was utilized. In addition, it was determined that biomass is the highest-ranked renewable source of energy. The effects of carbon storage are equally important, considering that in the study period the loss in CO₂ storage on the barren land of the forest management unit was 255,000 EUR. It was concluded that the forest management on the sample area was based on the principle of sustainability.

integration of RES, is giving maximum synergistic positive effects for the
local community and for the entire community, harmonizing the conflicting
interests.
The aim of the research is realized by the development of a triangulation
model and by the nature-inspired optimization model of multidimensional
genetic algorithms, first within the correlation multidimensional model for
integration of RES in 28 European countries, taking into account the socio-economic environment, and then again holistically within the real power
system.
The results achieved by the development of holistic interdisciplinary models
for integration of RES can be support to decision makers and all
stakeholders, on the long path to the realization strategic goal of
decarbonizing society. The results of this research can help in making more
adequate management decisions and in the development of strategic
studies and projects.

abstract = "The subject of this doctoral thesis is the development and interdisciplinary
research of various models for integration of renewable energy sources
(RES), with the aim of contribution to the achievement of energy strategies
until 2050. in accordance with the criteria of environmental management
and sustainable development. The interdisciplinary approach analyzes,
integrates and harmonizes researches in the field of strategic management,
resource management, circular economy, energy, environmental
management and sustainable development into a coherent integrity, by
physical and mathematical statistical simulation models.
The central problem analyzed is the research of innovative possibilities of
integration of RES technologies, with the task to increase economic and
energy benefits, and at the same time improve environmental quality and
reduce greenhouse gas emissions, in project society which has to be
sustainable. The aim of this dissertation is to research which degree of
integration of RES, is giving maximum synergistic positive effects for the
local community and for the entire community, harmonizing the conflicting

AB - This paper deals with problem solving process of renewable energy sources integration in society that strives to create new decarbonizing environment. New Energy Policy 2050 defines a number of development projects, within transition from nonrenewable to 100% renewable energy in use. In order to create a new value in environmentally clean society, by respecting not only profitable projects, two models are here developed. Interdisciplinary created input variables are incorporated. Circular economy principals are respected as main project’s philosophy. The goal was to research possible degree of renewable energy integration in socio economic community and within the real power system. The models are presented theoretically by objective functions. They are tested numerically on case study, as well. The question is: are all countries capable to change its energy supply system towards this goal? When and how project society can fulfill this hard strategic task. Developed models can help decision makers and stake holders for better understanding of necessary steps towards new valuable decarbonizing society. The results also indicate the limits of renewable energy integration in present society and consequently further researches, changes in consumer awareness and measures required to achieve absolute renewable energy integration, as a global mutual value.

sustainable method for the prediction of the availability of resources. The method is developed and
tested in the water resources case study because water is one of the most important substances on the
planet. The motivation for this research lies in numerous conflicting interests regarding different
resource usage. In the case of water use, conflicting interests are especially highlighted due to a
deteriorated environment, deficiency of water, deficiency of data and deficiency of proper methodologies for sustainable solutions. Different researches are done using artificial intelligence
applications to analyze various models of water management optimization in conditions of conflicting
interests relating to water use. This research aims to interdisciplinary investigate water management
methods from the aspect of sustainability, under the condition of incomplete and uncertain information.
This paper analyses the model for predicting the availability of water resources from the aspect of

AB - Two artificial intelligence models for the integration of renewable energy
sources are developed within this research to contribute to the European Green Plan realization. The review of renewable energy natural potential, on one hand, and installed capacity, on the other hand, in the Western Balkans and twenty-eight European countries is done within this research, as well as emissions. The analyses show that the European countries, sometimes even with lower natural potential in renewables, have installed much more renewable capacities than the Balkans countries with much higher natural potential. According to this, the first artificial intelligence model is developed based on multi-criteria linear regression analysis. This model relies on the correlation between the relevant regressors, i.e. relevant input variables for twenty-eight European countries and the same regressors for a particular Balkans country. Its goal is to find the maximum possible integrative renewable capacity in a Balkans’s country within the real socio-economic environment. The second artificial intelligence model is developed based on multi-criteria evolution genetic algorithms. Its goal is to find the maximum possible integrative renewable capacity within a real electric power system. Nature-inspired optimization is applied. From the framework of a given large number of generations, technical combinations of the degree of renewable energy sources integration, the best populations, i.e. combinations are selected. As nature selects from many generations and allows the best to survive and punishes the „weakˮ, in our case, „weak” combinations are those failing to meet the given conditions and limitations of the real electric power system. A new methodology is offered. Theoretical general formulas are given for both models. Developed models are tested on a numerical experiment of solar energy integration in the Serbia case study. Analyses of sensitivity prove that both models are applicable for all renewable energy sources and countries or regions.

AB - The interdisciplinary research conducted in this paper covers all processes from the moment
of production of photovoltaic panels, through the processes of transformation of solar energy
into electricity, to the decomposition of all used materials, or parts, in the context of circular
economy. The goal was to use all materials or parts that remain as excess in the process of
producing electricity from solar, as a resource in another process at the right time, and to
reuse them to the level of zero waste. In this way, new, increased costs of electricity
production from solar panels are achieved. The author calculated and named them as
environmental protection costs and sustainability costs. The costs are expressed in €c/kWh.
Environmental protection cost and sustainability cost should be added to technology costs in
all optimizing analysis. Environmental protection costs include all costs arising from all
mitigation measures of direct environmental impact in the process of electricity production
from solar energy. What is called sustainable costs in this paper includes all the additional
costs of decomposing all used materials and reusing them to the level of zero wastes. The
electric power system of Serbia was a case study to which the previous principles were tested

to improve the project management for dams. Although dams are constructed for production
of renewable clean hydro energy, from circular economy point of view, there are still pending
problems for solving and improving present stage. For example: the question of dam removal
is not analyzed in the context of holistic approach to sustainable solution research, within a
project management for dams. The aim of this paper is to present the complexity of one hydro
power plant removal project and its total cost in comparison with the total cost of dam
construction. There is also a discussion on question when this additional cost has to be
included in a strategic project management and who should bear the expenses of the removal
project. Recommended answers to a decision maker are offered. The project of simulation of
dam removal has been done on case study of gravity dam and hydropower plant Paunci on the

AB - The purpose of this paper is to make a research on solar power plants integration in an electric power system, taking into account all costs arising from circular economy criteria. Four scenarios of solar power plant installation are analyzed. The methodology relies on nature-inspired optimization. The evolutionary multiobjective genetic algorithm is applied. The optimization is based on the costs of electricity production, encompassing not only the costs of technology, but also the costs of environmental protection and sustainable development. These costs are included in the model and the objectives are formulated accordingly. The objectives are based on maximization of electricity production up to the level of demand, minimization of total electricity costs and minimization of greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, grid losses as well as other limitations and constraints of the electric power system are included into the model. The loss distribution is calculated in proportion to the distance between the supplier and the end user. The solar power plant losses equal zero, because it is assumed that the plant is located in a local community, close to consumers. The results show that the emissions and costs are higher without an introduced solar power plant. Introduction of solar capacities reduces the costs and emissions to a certain level. The developed model may be useful as a decision-support system generator.

The developed model may be useful as a decision-support system generator.",

AB - The subject of this paper is the research on wider solar energy implementation with the aim to meet the criteria of ecological management and sustainable development. In order to analyze and
increase the economic and energy benefits, while at the same time respecting and improving the
quality of the environment, on the local and global level, nature inspired optimization models are
applied. New Energy Policy of the 2050 European Union (New Energy Policy, EU 2050) requires
achieving 80-95% greenhouse gases emissions reductions, referring to 1990, which presents great
challenges for mankind, taking all conflicting interests into account. This research includes
development of possible optimization models which are inspired by the nature. The optimal
operation of different degree of solar power plants installation was considered using evolutionary
multi objective optimization algorithm. The numerous solutions are selected as the nature selects
the best results in the evolution process. The bed solutions are punished and excluded, as the nature punished weakness and insufficiency. The proposed research has a wider context and applicability because the optimal scope of the installation for the implementation of solar energy, as well as the effects of carbon dioxide reduction in the entire community is calculated. The operation of the system is simulated on the base of real energy suppliers, with their minimum and maximum
possible production. The defined target in production was to reach the consumption, including losses in grid from the transport of the energy. 24 hours daily pattern from the most cold winter day
is selected to target the consumption requirements. Their shapes of the peaks, which are noticeable in this period, are followed. Time base is 2018 with the prognoses on 2050. Scenarios for 2050 are developed according to the literature review, assumption of possible consumption l, assumption relating to the non-renewable resources limitations and requirements in accordance with New EU Energy Policy 2050, relating to CO2 emission reduction. Optimal electricity system operation is defined by evolutionary multiple objective genetic algorithm GANetXL, as a decision-support system generator. Additional algorithms are developed with the purpose of graphical user interface that allows easy visualization of enormous number of results and better understanding and checking of decision-support applications. The results suggest that higher installation of solar energy provides the economic and environmental benefits. Counting the limitation of non-renewable coal reserves and EU Energy Policy 2050 requirements about emission reduction, the results and conclusion on justification of investment in more intense solar energy implementation in 2050 are even more on the side of feasibility.

AB - Installing of new solar capacities for electricity production has slowed down worldwide. To explore this trend, to assess opportunities for implementing solar potential, and to determine whether wider investment in solar capacities is possible, a comprehensive model is developed and applied to 28 EU countries and Serbia. Holistic "triangulation" approach encompasses a correlational multidimensional model, an economic analysis, and societal perspective. First, in a linear regression analysis, number and types of massive input variables were adjusted to maximize the level of explanation of the phenomenon and the significance of the input variables. Calculating 255 combinations of eight types of input data for four years, possible production of solar electricity in the 29 countries was quantified. Calculated results were subjected to complex analyses of sensitivity. Second, the balance between the production cost and market price of solar electricity was analyzed by the economic method of Levelised Cost of Electricity. Third, questionnaires and interviews revealed public opinion and expert opinion. Discussion of current situation and positive practice internationally and in Serbia covers regulatory, financial, and economic aspects, including an assessment of investment risks. In conclusion, interests and opportunities favour wider implementation of solar energy facilities for clean and renewable production of electricity.

AB - The research subject in this paper is implementation of solar energy in the logistics of
marketing chain of supplying green hotels with electricity, which is proposed to be an
obligation in the "Green Key" certification. Theoretical hypothesis have been verified and
proven in a specific experimental installation, case study of a solar power plant in the tourist
centre Ada Bojana in Montenegro. With that purpose - feasibility studies for the solar power
plant and two alternative supply solutions have been conducted. The main methods within
this research were: the cost benefit method, Delphi method, survey method and multi-criteria
optimization method. The cost benefit method and method of multi-criteria of compromised
ranking confirmed justification and feasibility of proposed solution of solar energy
implementation. The Delphi method provides estimation of realization of the defined goals in
achieving the "Green Key" certification, with appropriate probability. The survey method
confirmed that even within the framework of public hearing it is noted that, in addition to
standard criteria in the process of green hotels certification, the implementation of solar
energy in tourist centres can be accepted as a justified and sustainable obligation. All realized
and proven improvements, including the possibility of forming a micro and smart grid, show
that Ada Bojana tourist centre can be considered as positive practice and cluster of
sustainable tourism.

AB - Dragonproject is the first tourist surf resort on the Adriatic coast and in Balkans, which now operates as an organized tourist sport and recreation educational ecological center, on two micro-locations in the area of the most attractive tourist offer on the Montenegrin coast. This paper presents the results of research on the business performance and business improvement opportunities of Dragonproject tourist center as a business system, which operates under free market conditions. Having in mind nomenclature and functioning specificity of the business system, the goal is to keep their own identity in dealing with extreme water sports, and again, and always essential goal is profitability. SWOT analysis results suggest that the solution for organizational improvement systems should be sought in cooperation with foreign agencies, with other sports centers, in attractive offer for children, in a broader education of youth and also in a development of recognized methodological approaches and leading training programs for all levels and all clients, as well as in renewable resources application. Delphi method results show that the increased influx of tourists can be expected at the end of 2017, and profit increase of 30% in early 2018. Indicators of sustainable development of the business system are defined and the matrix of objectives with criteria weights is made. The conclusions and recommendations for possible future development of the tourist center in organizational terms, at the existing locations, with the expansion on the lake and river water in Serbia and clusters cooperation is done, also comparing organizational system of similar tourist centers abroad.

AB - This paper presents striking examples of positive global strategy of investing
in solar projects. Solar energy as a renewable resource is a clean, green energy. The
amount of this free energy received on Earth in just one year, if the whole could be
preserved and converted into electricity, would cover 6,000 years of total energy
consumption in the world. Within the strategy of financial management of solar
programs in the world today defined financial benefits as incentives for the development
of solar projects and it is defined in this paper.
