AB  - U radu su prikazana eksperimentalna istraživanja koja uključuju analizu stvaranja i rasta prsline u zavarenom spoju čelika za rad na povišenim temperaturama. Za bolje razumevanje fenomena stvaranja i rasta prsline u zavarenim spojevima čelika A-204 Gr. A, namenjenog za rad na visokim temperaturama i pritiscima, potrebno je utvrditi uticaj heterogenosti mikrostrukturnih i mehaničkih svojstava na žilavost loma i stvaranje i rast zamorne prsline u komponentama zavarenog spoja. Na osnovu ispitivanja provedenih na CT i Charpy epruvetama na kojima su prethodno inicirane prsline utvrđen je uticaj heterogenosti mikrostrukturnih i mehaničkih svojstava zavarenog spojeva na žilavost loma i parametre rasta zamorne prsline.
AB  - In a paper given, experimental investigations have included the analysis of crack initiation and growth in welded joint of steel for operation at elevated temperatures. For better understanding of the phenomenon of crack initiation and propagation in welded joints of A-204 Gr. A steel, designed for high-temperature and high-pressure application, it is necessary to determine the effect of heterogeneity of microstructural and mechanical properties on fracture toughness and fatigue crack initiation and propagation in welded components. Based on the tests conducted with pre-cracked CT and Charpy size specimens, the effect of heterogeneity of microstructural and mechanical properties of welded joints on fracture toughness and fatigue-crack growth parameters was determined.

AB  - Owing to their good mechanical properties, titanium based alloys are used for machine parts and devices that operate in demanding regimes and environmental conditions. Laser shock peening (LSP) is an innovative technique for improvement of the surface and mechanical characteristics of the material. In this paper, LSP is employed for additional improvement of already good characteristics of Ti- alloy. Laser shock peening is performed on alloy surface, with and without protective and transparent layer and obtained microstructure, surface characteristics and mechanical properties are compared. LSP improved the surface topology and microhardness of material, producing overall better results when the Ti-alloy surface was coated by transparent and protective layer.

Experimental Investigation of Ti-6al-4v Alloy Fatigue Crack Growth Parameters

AB  - Analysis of stress and strain at the tip of fatigue crack by means of linear elastic fracture mechanics has led to the formulation of well known Paris’ equation which brings fatigue crack growth speed (da/dN) and stress intensity factor range at the crack tip (ΔK) in a relation.For the purpose of determining the fatigue crack growth parameters of titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V a standard Charpy specimen was used and a three - point bending method on a resonating high - frequency pulsator. Standard fracture mechanics tests on notched specimens can provide insight into the fracture behaviour of materials under constrained deformation, i.e. under a threedimensional stress state. Specimens were taken from a plate with dimensions of 80x300x30 mm, made of Ti6Al-4V alloy. In order to monitor the increment of crack length, strain gauges were applied to the specimens.
The obtained frequency was in the range from 215 to 235 Hz, while the stress ratio was R=0.1. Average load
and it’s amplitude were registered with the ±3 Ncm accuracy. All tests were conducted at room temperature.
Test results are intended for the finite element method (FEM) and extended finite element method (XFEM)
analysis of bone fixation implants made of Ti-6Al-4V alloy.

AB  - An increasing diversity of operations and different materials, as well as different working conditions lead to various construction solutions. Structural design is the preparation of structures that shall be efficient in fulfilling anticipated exploitation conditions, both economically and safely, i.e. there will be no damage resulting in the loss of structural functionality in service. In practice, however, there are fractures that can occur during construction, assembly, and exploitation. Fracture may be caused by overloads, by static fracture, or by dynamic loads, and by fatigue. Upon calculation of static structural durability, normal and tangential stresses are taken into account, while the dynamic durability calculation defines structural resistance to crack formation and its propagation under dynamic loading. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the possibility of applying fracture mechanics to structural integrity assessment. To this end, the basic concepts of linear elastic fracture mechanics will be explained.

Numerical analysis of fatigue crack growth of hip implant

AB  - Fatigue crack growth in hip implant has been analysed using the extended finite element method. Toward this aim, the three-dimensional finite element model is created and used in ABAQUS and Morfeo/crack add-in for ABAQUS to simulate fatigue crack growth from initial value up to the critical point. Initial crack dimensions are assumed according to the experience with failures of hip implants, whereas the final, critical value was estimated using data for fracture toughness obtained by experimental testing of hip implant made of Ti-6Al-4V alloy. Results for the equivalent stress intensity factor and number of cycles in each of 40 steps of fatigue crack growth are presented and analysed, indicating the point of unstable crack growth.

AB  - U okviru tehničkog rešenja prikazana je metodologija analize i eksperimentalnog određivanja otpornosti na lom karakterističnih biomaterijala koji se koriste za izradu biomedicinskih implanata, a pre svega koštanih pločica, primenom novih optičkih metoda merenja na modifikovanim epruvetama mehanike loma. Primenom ove metode omogućena je mogućnost praćena i analiza polјa deformacija u okolini vrha prsline tokom rasta prsline u biomaterijalu, što nije moguće koristeći tradicionalne merne uređaje (merne trake, specijalne ekstenzometre). Osim toga, primena ove metode kod standardnih eksperimentalnih postupaka mehanike loma omogućava direktno praćenje promene izabranih relevantnih parametara mehanike loma, kao što je CTOD parametar. Metodologija i postupci merenja koja uklјučuju trodimenzionalnu eksperimentalnu optičku analizu ponašanja na lom karakterističnih metalnih biomaterijala, koji su prikazani u okviru tehničkog rešenja, primenjeni su korišćenjem licenciranih GOM optičkih sistema merenja i softvera za obradu podataka Aramis.

AB  - U okviru rada su predstavljeni principi i primeri savremenih eksperimentalnih metoda za određivanje parametara mehanike loma. Metodologija analize i određivanja parametara mehanike loma obuhvatila je analizu ponašanja metalnih materijala u odnosu na lom primenom modifikovanih epruveta mehanike loma, sa inicijalnom prslinom i zateznim opterećenjem, i imala je za cilj pre svega određivanje karaktera tih procesa u slučaju problema tankih pločica, uz korišćenje osnovnih postulata mehanike loma. Metodologija uključuje primenu eksperimentalnih postupaka mehanike loma definisanih standardima, uz primenu metode za trodimenzionalno stereoskopsko merenje mehaničkog ponašanja materijala. Pomoću sistema za korelaciju digitalnih slika (Digital Image Correlation, DIC) za ispitivanje deformacija i pomeranja u materijalu ispitani su parametri mehanike loma metalnih materijala, pre svega epruveta od 316L nerđajućeg čelika i titan legure Ti-6Al-4V. 3D optički sistem GOM i softver Aramis su korišćeni za izvođenje eksperimentalne analize na pripremljenim epruvetama. Pošto se ovaj sistem koristi za merenje deformacija i parametra pomeranja otvaranja vrha prsline CTOD na modifikovanim kompaktnim epruvetama za zatezanje C(T) i epruvetama sa zarezom, dat je i kratak pregled mernih procedura i procesiranja rezultata, kao i moguće primene ovog sistema. Prikazani rezultati daju pregled polja deformacija i pomeranja tokom otvaranja vrha prsline, rasta prsline i u trenutku loma epruvete, što nije moguće putem tradicionalnih metoda merenja. Analizom rezultata pokazano je da je sa velikom preciznošću moguće izmeriti pomeranja tokom otvaranja vrha prsline i dobiti CTOD parametar. Rezultati pokazuju da odabrana metoda pruža dobre rezultate u analizi mehaničkog ponašanja i određivanju parametara mehanike loma metalnih materijala.
AB  - The principles and examples of state-of-the-art experimental methods for measuring the fracture mechanics parameters are presented in this paper. The methodology of experimental analysis of the fracture mechanics parameters includes investigation of fracture behaviour of metallic materials using modified specimens with initial crack under tensile load, with the primary goal of determining the characteristics of fracture processes for the case of thin plates, using basic fracture mechanics postulates. The methodology also includes the application of experimental fracture mechanics procedures as defined by standards, using three-dimensional stereo-metric mechanical behaviour measurement methods. Fracture behaviour of metallic materials, mainly 316L stainless steel and titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V specimens, is analyzed by using a digital image correlation (DIC) system for measuring strain and displacement in the material. GOM three-dimensional optical system and Aramis software are used to perform experimental analysis of selected specimens. As this system is used to measure strain and crack tip opening displacement (CTOD) parameter on the modified compact tension specimen C(T) and notch specimens, a basic review of measuring procedures and result processing is given, alongside other possible applications for this system. The presented results show strain and displacement fields during crack tip opening, crack growth, and the moment of fracture of specimens, which are not possible using traditional measurement methods. The analysis of results shows that it is possible to measure displacements during crack tip opening with a great precision, and thus obtain the CTOD parameter. The results show that the selected measuring method obtains good results in the analysis of mechanical behaviour and fracture mechanics parameters of metallic materials.

AB  - In this paper are presented experimental analyses of the behaviour of 316L stainless steel in regard to fracture, according to standard methods of investigation on modified tensile C(T) specimens. The S316L alloy is selected for this experimental analysis, often used in many engineering applications. This alloy is not prone to corrosion as other austenitic steels with a higher share of carbon. Results show that material behaviour, in terms of dependence of stress intensity factor (SIF) value relative to thickness of the plate, is necessary to assume with a different model when the specimen thickness is very small. Application of standards in the field of investigation of material resistance to fracture allow simultaneous determination and connection of several fracture mechanics parameters.

AB  - In this paper numerical analysis of hip replacement implant behaviour from a fracture mechanics perspective is presented. It is necessary to understand the fatigue crack initiation and propagation characteristics in order to prevent catastrophic failure of the implant. For the simulation of crack propagation extended finite element method (XFEM) was used, as being one of the most advanced modeling techniques for this type of problem. Short theoretical background information on the XFEM is provided, as well as the representation of crack and the stress intensity factors computation. For chosen titanium alloy hip implants numerical modeling and analysis were done in ABAQUS software. It is shown that is possible to assume hip implant mechanical behaviour to the existence of defects such as cracks by application of numerical simulation crack behaviour. The numerical results illustrate that XFEM is efficient for the simulation of crack propagation in complicated biomedical structures, without the need to re-mesh during the propagation if the finite element mesh is well defined.

AB  - The paper presents a study on the surface modifications of nickel based superalloy Nimonic 263 induced by laser shock peening (LSP) process. The process was performed by Nd3+:Yttrium Aluminium Garnet (YAG) picosecond laser using the following parameters: pulse duration 170 ps; repetition rate 10 Hz; pulse numbers of 50, 100 and 200; and wavelength of 1064 nm (with pulse energy of 2 mJ, 10 mJ and 15 mJ) and 532 nm (with pulse energy of 25 mJ, 30 mJ and 35 mJ). The following response characteristics were analyzed: modified surface areas obtained by the laser/material interaction were observed by scanning electron microscopy; elemental composition of the modified surface was evaluated by energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS); and Vickers microhardness tests were performed. LSP processing at both 1064 nm and 532 nm wavelengths improved the surface structure and microhardness of a material. Surface morphology changes of the irradiated samples were determined and surface roughness was calculated. These investigations are intended to contribute to the study on the level of microstructure and mechanical properties improvements due to LSP process that operate in a picosecond regime. In particular, the effects of laser wavelength on the microstructural and mechanical changes of a material are studied in detail.

AB  - Ocena sklonosti ka krtom lomu je analizirana ispitivanjem epruveta sa zamornom prslinom u simuliranoj zoni ZUT. Analizirano je kako heterogenost strukture i mehaničkih svojstava različitih zona ZUT, dobijenih simulacijom jednoprolaznog i dvoprolaznog ZUT utiče na pojavu i rast prslina, što omogućava da se kvantitativno izraze parametri koji kontrolišu lokalno deformacijsko ponašanje i rast prsline.
AB  - Susceptibility to brittle fracture has been analyzed by testing specimens precracked by fatigue in simulated HAZ region. It has been analyzed how the heterogeneity of microstructure and mechanical properties off different HAZ regions, obtained by simulation of one-pass and two-passes HAZ affects crack occurrence and growth, enabling to express quantitavely the parameters, controlling local deformation behaviour and crack growth.

AB  - Punjene i samozaštitne žice su dodatni materijali koji se poslednjih godina sve više koriste zbog povećane produktivnosti i ekonomičnosti, boljeg kvaliteta spoja i lakšeg rada na terenu. S druge strane, jedan od glavnih nedostataka ovih žica je povećana količina dimnih gasova i nedovoljna istraženost njihove štetnosti, naročito u slučaju samozaštitne žice. Zbog toga se pred nove generacije ovih žica postavlja i ekološki zahtev smanjenja emisije dimnih gasova radi zaštite kako zdravlja zavarivača, tako i okoline. U cilju istraživanja ovog uticaja, ploče čelika mikrolegiranog sa V, Nb i Ti su zavarene metalnom punjenom žicom u zaštitnoj atmosferi Ar+5.9%CO2+1.1%O2 i samozaštitnom žicom. Pri tome su izmerene vrednosti emisije gasova CO, CO2 i SO2, kao i ukupne prašine. Dobijene vrednosti su upoređene kako međusobno, tako i sa maksimalnim dozvoljenim koncentracijama prema važećem standardu. Utvrđeno je da samozaštitne žice, suprotno očekivanjima, ne pokazuju veću toksičnost u odnosu na metalne punjene žice.
AB  - The use of flux cored and self-shielded wires as filler materials for gas metal arc welding is growing constantly due to increased productivity and efficiency, better weld quality and easer operation. On the other hand, one of the major drawbacks of these wires is the increased amount of fumes and gases and insufficient data of their harmful effects, especially in the case of self shielded wire. Therefore, in now days, one of the most important requirements is environmentally and health request for decreased fume and gas emission. In this paper, the plates of steel micro alloyed with V, Nb and Ti, were welded with metal cored wire in shielded atmosphere of Ar+5.9%CO2+1.1%O2 and with self-shielded wire. The concentrations of emitted total dust and gases CO, CO2 and SO2 were measured. Obtained values were compared with permissible exposure limits defined by standard. It was estimated that self shielded wire did not show higher toxicity compare to metal cored wire, what is in the contrast with previous studies.

AB  - Lasersko zavarivanje je proces zavarivanja sa velikom gustinom energije i mnogobrojnim prednostima u odnosu na konvencionalne metode zavarivanja (uska zona uticaja toplote, manji unos toplote, manja distorzija i sl.) Mehanička obrada laserom je inovativna tehnika kojom se poboljšavaju karakteristike otpornosti na zamor, habanje i otpornost na koroziju. U ovom radu, mehanički su obrađene laserom dve grupe uzoraka; osnovnog materijala i laserski zavarenih spojeva. Limovi superlegure debljine 2mm su zavareni milisekundnim Nd:YAG laserom, dok je mehanička obada obavljena pikosekundnim Nd:YAG laserom. Zavareni spojevi su ispitani zatezanjem, a mikrostruktura je posmatrana optičkim i skenirajućim elektronskim mikroskopom. Mikrotvrdoća je merena po Vikersu sa opterećenjem od 10 N.
AB  - Laser welding is a welding process with a high energy density and numerous advantages over conventional welding methods (narrow heat affected zone, lower heat input, less distortion, and the like.) Mechanical treatment laser is an innovative technique for improving the properties of fatigue resistance, abrasion and corrosion resistance. In this paper, mechanically processed by laser two groups of samples; base materials and laser welded joints. Sheets made of Ni superalloy 2mm thick -millisecond Nd: YAG laser, while the mechanical treatment made picosecond Nd: YAG laser. Welds are tensile tested, and microstructure was observed by optical and scanning electron microscopy. The microhardness was measured by Vickers method with a load of 10 N.

AB  - Laser surface treatment is both a thermomechanical and mechanical process, based on the ability of a high energy laser pulse to generate shock waves and plastic deformation in metallic materials. Laser welding is a high energy density process with many advantages such as narrow heat affected zone, lower heat input and lower heat/energy distortion compared to conventional welding processes. In this paper, Nimonic 263 alloy sheets are laser welded by Nd:YAG laser using different laser processing parameters. The microstructure, surface roughness and mechanical properties are investigated. Welded joints are mechanically treated by laser in order to improve the surface and mechanical characteristics. Mechanical characteristics are determined by tensile test, and fractures and laser treated weld surfaces are observed by scanning and optical microscopy. Surface topography is analysed by optical profilometry and micro hardness is measured by Vickers method.

AB  - The stability of the welding process has a significant impact on the assurance of the required level of quality of welded joints. The increasing stability of the welding process reduces the probability of forming imperfections in the weld metal. The statistical analysis of the data obtained by monitoring the welding parameters in real-time was performed.This paper presents the results of the analysis of the impact of the parameters on the stability of gas metal arc welding process when the metal-cored electrode wire is used.

AB  - Welding is the principal industrial process used for joining metals, but at the same time, it's the significant source of toxic fumes and gases emission. With the advent of new types of welding procedures and consumables, the number of welders exposed to welding fumes is growing constantly in spite of the mechanisation and automation of the process. Having in mind that, in some cases, toxic fumes and gases can be over the respective limits for toxic substances, one of the most important requirements for chosen welding procedure is its harmlessness to the environment. The health aspects associated with welding are complex and the industry is continuing its research to evaluate the effects of the welder's exposure to typical constituents of welding fumes and gases, as well as its impact on what concerns climatic changes. The aim of this paper is to estimate the influence of the type of filler material on the emission of toxic substances, and to show the potential hazards. In order to determine that effect, microalloyed steel has been welded using two different filler materials (metal cored wire and self-shielded wire). The concentrations of emitted total dust, CO2, CO, SO, Mn, Ni, Al, Cr, Cr(VI), Ca and P were measured. By comparing results for both filler materials, it was established that the special attention must be paid to the high concentration of manganese and CO in metal cored wire, as well as high concentrations of phosphorus and aluminum in self-shielded wire. Also, conducted experimental measurements of emission of certain elements did not show higher toxicity of self-shielded wire compare to metal cored wire, what is in the contrast with previous studies.

AB  - For better understanding of the phenomenon of crack initiation and propagation in welded joints of A-387 Gr. 11 steel designed for high-temperature and high-pressure applications, it is necessary to determine the effect of the heterogeneity of microstructural and mechanical properties on fracture toughness and fatigue crack initiation and propagation. Based on the tests conducted with pre-cracked CT and Charpy size specimens, the effect of the heterogeneity of the microstructural and mechanical properties of welded joints on fracture toughness and fatigue-crack growth parameters was determined.

AB  - Horizontalne Kaplanove turbine su instalirane u hidroelektrani 'ĐERDAP 2', 10 jedinica ukupne snage 28 MW. Uzimajući u obzir činjenicu da se zamor pojavio u mnogim komponentama, sprovedeno je istraživanje uticaja režima opterećenja, radnih uslova i vrste oštećenja na njihov radni vek. Korišćenjem analitičkih izraza, izračunato je da savojni naponi koji deluju na turbinsko vratilo, a pod dejstvom zamora, korozije i koncentracije napona, prelaze vrednost 25 MPa na prirubnici koja je izložena dejstvu vode, odnosno, 40 MPa na prirubnici koja je izložena 'korozivnoj vodi', a zaštićena je epoksi premazom, što može da izazove pojavu površinskih prslina u prelaznom radijusu između cilindričnog dela vratila i prirubnice.
AB  - Horizontal Kaplan turbines, were installed in 10 hydro-electric generating units at 'ĐERDAP 2', total power of 28 MW. Taking into account the fact that fatigue started to occur in many components, the research is conducted regarding the influence of loading regime, work condition and type of damage, on the service life of equipment components. Analytical calculation established values of bending stresses acting on the turbine shaft due to fatigue, corrosion, and stress concentration, that are above 25 MPa in flanges exposed to water, and over 40 MPa for flanges exposed to 'corrosive water', which is also protected by epoxy fibres, possibly causing the occurrence of surface cracks on the transition radius between the cylindrical part of the shaft and the flange.

AB  - In this paper, the AlMg4.5Mn alloy has been welded using tungsten inert gas (TIG) and metal inert gas (MIG) processes with different gas shielding atmospheres. Tensile strength, hardness, impact and fracture toughness, fatigue crack growth parameters (Delta Kth, da/dN), as well as microstructure were determined. By comparing results for different gas mixtures, the main conclusion for TIG welding was that increased helium content has an important effect on toughness and fatigue crack growth parameters, whereas its effect on other mechanical properties is not significant. On the other hand, in the case of MIG welding, adding helium does not affect mechanical properties, except the fatigue crack growth rate. It was also established that adding nitrogen (TIG welding) and oxygen (MIG welding) reduces toughness and increases crack growth rate, so their use in shielding mixtures is not recommended.

AB  - Rad daje opis analize elastoplastičnih deformacija čeličnog cevnog apsorbera kinetičke energije sudara železničkih vozila metodom konačnih elemenata (FEM). Eksperimentalna istraživanja korišćena su kao osnova za modeliranje i simulaciju FEM modela. Razvijeni model konačnih elemenata uključuje nelinearne karakteristike materijala (plastičnost), nelinearni kontakt i velike deformacije konačnih elemenata. Svi aspekti korišćeni u FEM modelu apsorbera detaljno su opisani. Rezultati FEM analize za izabrani apsorber prikazani su i analizirani. Razvijeni model otvara nove mogućnosti za buduća istraživanja u sličnim problemima.
AB  - The paper describes the Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis of elastic plastic deformation of steel tube impact absorbers for railway vehicles. Experiment investigation is used as a basis for FEM modelling and simulation. The developed FEM model includes material nonlinearity (plasticity), nonlinear contact and large deformation of finite elements. All aspects used in the absorber FEM model are explained in detail. The finite element analysis results for a chosen absorber are presented and discussed. The developed model opens the possibilities for future investigations of similar problems.

AB  - Horizontal Kaplan turbines, were installed in 10 generating sets units at „DJERDAP 2“. After 163.411 hours of operation, the fracture of the hydro-electric generating set A6 turbine shaft in the area of high stress concentration occurred, at the transition radius between the flange and the runner hub. In this paper the results of the analytical calculation regarding the strength of the turbine shaft are presented and influence of the corrosive environment, as well as tests regarding the fatigue. Tensile tests under constant amplitude loading were carried out on smooth specimens in order to determine fatigue properties of the base material, as well as bending tests on notched specimens in order to determine fracture mechanics parameters, or correlation between the crack growth rate da/dN and the stress intensity factor ΔK. It has been established that stress values were higher than allowable values, which led to the occurence of many cracks due to fatigue corrosion. One of those cracks caused the fracture.

AB  - Nowadays, heterogeneous welded joints in metallic constructions are more and more frequently used so that these welded joints are the subject of a large number of investigations. In the present paper, welded joints consisting of micro alloy steel and austenitic steel realized with various filler metals and welding technologies are presented. The conducted testing was aimed at establishing the effect of the type of filler metal and heat input on the total impact energy, crack-initiation and crack-propagation energy as well as on the fracture toughness at plane-strain state of ferritic-austenitic welded joints. Optimum welding technology providing the highest welded-joint safety and extending operation life of construction has been defined.

AB  - Istraživanje uticaja vibracija na promenu zaostalih napona kod sučeono zavarenih čeličnih ploča i promena energije udara u karakterističnim zonama zavarenog spoja analizirana je u ovom radu. Bitan segment, koji se javlja kao posledica zavarivanja, je pojava zaostalih napona u zoni zavarenog spoja. Merenje zaostalih napona je rađeno na sučeono zavarenim pločama koje nisu vibrirane u toku zavarivanja i kod ploča koje su istovremeno zavarivane i vibrirane. Uočeno je da proces vibracija znatno smanjuje nivo zaostalih napona u zoni sučeono zavarenog spoja, odnosno, dolazi do relaksacije i uravnoteženja stanja napona. Ispitivanja energije udara su pokazala da vibracije pozitivno utiču na povećanje ukupne energije udara i kod epruveta sa zarezom u metalu šava i u zoni uticaja toplote. Uočen je i bolji odnos raspodele energije stvaranja i energije širenja prsline, kao važnih komponenti u oceni plastičnosti zavarenog spoja.
AB  - The effect of vibration on the variation of residual stresses in butt-welded steel plates and on the impact energy in characteristic zones of a welded joint is analysed in this paper. An important segment occurring as a result of welding is the phenomenon of residual stresses in the welded joint zone. Residual stress measurements are conducted both on butt-welded plates that were not vibrated during welding and on plates simultaneously welded and vibrated. It is concluded that the vibration process noticeably decreases the level of stresses in the zone of the butt weld, i.e. the result is relaxation and plane stress state. Impact energy tests have shown that vibration favourably affects the total impact energy by increasing it both in specimens notched in the weld metal (WM) and in the heat-affected zone (HAZ). It is also concluded that the correlation between the distribution of crack initiation- and crack propagation energy, as vital components in the assessment of welded joint ductility, is improved.
