Koralacije za određivanje nominalnog pritiska u funkciji od temperature i pritiska za prirubnice od ugljeničnog čelika

AB  - Prirubnice od ugljeničnog čelika predstavljaju sastavni deo cevovoda i opreme u različitim granama industrije. Njihova klasifikacija je u standardima izvršena prema nominalnom pritisku (PN). Radi određivanja PN za prirubnice od ugljeničnog čelika potrebno je poznavati materijal prirubnice, kao i radne uslove: pritisak i temperaturu. Za potrebe inženjerske prakse, u radu su date korelacije između pritiska, temperature i nominalnog pritiska, koje su dobijene obradom podataka, datih u standardu SRPS EN 1092 – Prirubnice i njihovi spojevi – kružne prirubnice za cevi, armature fazonske komade i pribor, koje nose oznaku PN. Ocena kvaliteta korelacija izvršena je pomoću statističkih pokazatelja: korelacionog odnosa i srednjeg kvadratnog odstupanja.

AB  - Ugradnja opreme u procesno postrojenje podrazumeva njeno spajanje sa pratećim cevovodima. Usled dejstva sila i momenata koji se sa cevovoda prenose na priklјučke procesnih aparata može doći do značajnih deformacija, pa i trajnih oštećenja. U cilјu sinhronizacije prilikom izrade projektne dokumentacije, potrebno je da se projektni timovi usaglase oko veličina sila i momenata, koji se raspodelјuju na priklјučke i cevovode. U australijskom standardu AS 1210 postoje tabelarno prikazane vrednosti pomenutih sila i momenata, na osnovu kojih su u ovom radu definisane zavisnosti između nazivnog prečnika prirubnice i odgovarajućih vrednosti sila i momenata. U radu su date korelacije, pomoću kojih se jednostavno mogu izračunati sile i momenti na priklјučcima aparata poštujući klasifikaciju prirubnica prema ANSI B16.5 standardu.

Stress intensification factor, sustained stress index and flexibility factor analysis of large D/T elbows

AB  - Paper presents new equations for calculation of stress intensification factors, sustained stress indices and flexibility factors for large diameter-to-thickness ratio elbows (i.e., D/T>100). The proposed equations overcome the need for pipe stress engineers to use numerical analyses in order to evaluate the piping which falls outside of the scope of typically used piping design codes. Regression analysis of the newly proposed equations is based on an extensive numerical database developed specifically for purposes of this paper, alongside with the data (both numerical and empirical) found in the open literature. Proposed equations prove to be a better fit to the database than the existing equations and have been shown to be applicable not only for large pipes, but also for normal piping (having D/T  lt = 100) typically found in industrial plants. In case of the adoption of the proposed procedure, it is implied that the proposed equations should be applied to all the bends within a piping system subject to the analysis and not only to the selected bends.

Optimisation of waste heat recovery system in paper machine dryer section

AB  - In this paper the optimal surface area of an air-to-air plate heat exchanger is determined. The analysis is based on input data obtained by measurement in real operating conditions in board producing paper machine in Belgrade, Serbia. For that purpose effectiveness-NTU method together with previously defined cost functions was applied, taking into account seasonal variations in the parameters of exhaust and fresh atmospheric air. In addition, the total net savings in the consumption of primary energy sources in the factory that can be achieved by applying an optimised system for the use of waste heat were calculated and a simple payback period of the investment was determined.

Shortcut Method for "L" and "Z" Pipe Bend Sizing

AB  - In the engineering practice, it may often prove necessary to provide quick and relatively accurate estimates of piping routing and material requirements in very early stages of a project. In these cases, there is typically no time to perform detailed pipe stress analysis in order to obtain accurate routing, which allows for sufficient piping system flexibility, and the designer is constrained to the use of rule of thumb approach and good engineering judgment. This approach, although often used, may prove challenging in many situations, one of which is establishing sufficient pipe loop dimensions. Method proposed by the authors in Jacimovic and Ivosevic (2020, "Shortcut Method for Pipe Expansion Loop Sizing," ASME J. Pressure Vessel Technol. 142(4), p. 041505) provides a procedure for quick estimation of U loops, while the present procedure aims to provide additional procedures for estimation of L and Z bends, thus completing the circle of shortcut methods for quick estimation of expansion requirements of piping systems.

Finite element analysis of 90 degree pipe elbow sustained stress indices

AB  - Paper deals in-depth with the topic of sustained stress indices applicable to 90 degrees elbows based on non-linear finite element analysis models. A comprehensive overview of the existing literature sources is given in the first part of the paper, showing that there are little sources which deal specifically with this topic and that the ones that do exist result in important scatter of the results. As a result, more than few of the existing sources are non-conservative in their nature. Dedicated non-linear finite element studies have been performed on shell and solid models which are used in conjunction with the regression analysis in order to obtain explicit equations which can be used to calculate both in- and out-plane sustained stress indices in 90 degrees pipe elbows, which can then be used in the typical pipe stress analysis. Newly proposed equations prove to be a good fit for the numerical data, showing little deviation as shown by the correlation parameters presented in the paper. Final part of the paper presents a dedicated section on the high wall thickness elbows and shows the relationship between elbow wall thickness and maximum stress location. It is shown that beyond certain thickness, the maximum stress location shifts from the typical failure location (i.e., side wall) to the locations which are not typically expected (i.e., intrados or even away from elbow). abstract = "Paper deals in-depth with the topic of sustained stress indices applicable to 90 degrees elbows based on non-linear finite element analysis models. A comprehensive overview of the existing literature sources is given in the first part of the paper, showing that there are little sources which deal specifically with this topic and that the ones that do exist result in important scatter of the results. As a result, more than few of the existing sources are non-conservative in their nature. Dedicated non-linear finite element studies have been performed on shell and solid models which are used in conjunction with the regression analysis in order to obtain explicit equations which can be used to calculate both in- and out-plane sustained stress indices in 90 degrees pipe elbows, which can then be used in the typical pipe stress analysis. Newly proposed equations prove to be a good fit for the numerical data, showing little deviation as shown by the correlation parameters presented in the paper. Final part of the paper presents a dedicated section on the high wall thickness elbows and shows the relationship between elbow wall thickness and maximum stress location. It is shown that beyond certain thickness, the maximum stress location shifts from the typical failure location (i.e., side wall) to the locations which are not typically expected (i.e., intrados or even away from elbow). This shifting may have an important effect on the theoretical models which assume failure location.",

AB  - Predmet ove doktorske disertacije je istraživanje procesnih parametara vakuumskog degazatora napojne vode sa nasutom ispunom za sisteme daljinskog grejanja i formiranje originalne proračunske procedure. U disertaciji je dat pregled proračunskih procedura, dostupnih u otvorenoj literaturi, koje su danas najzastupljenije u praktičnom inženjerskom radu. Pokazano je da analizirane metodologije dovode do poddimenzionisanja aparata odnosno do aparata sa nedovoljnom visinom ispune. Na osnovu rezultata eksperimentalnih ispitivanja na industrijskom vakuumskom degazatoru, formirana je originalna korelacija za proračun koeficijenta prelaza supstancije u tečnosti predmetnog tipa aparata. Ova procedura, odnosno korelacija, može da se koristi za proračun i dimenzionisanje novih aparata, kao i za analizu rada postojećih aparata ovog tipa.
AB  - The subject of this doctoral dissertation is the research of process parameters of a vacuum degasser with random packing used for water degassing in district heating systems and formation of the original design procedure. The dissertation gives an overview of the calculation procedures available in the open literature, which are the most represented in practical engineering work. It has been shown that the methodologies analyzed could lead to an undersizing of the apparatus i.e. to a insufficient height of the packed bed. Based on the experimental testing of industrial vacuum degasser, an original correlation for calculation of the mass transfer coefficient in a liquid phase of this type of apparatus has been formed. This procedure i.e. correlation, can be used for design and sizing of new equipment, as well as for performance analysis of existing equipment of this type.

AB  - In the engineering practice, it is often necessary to define supporting scheme and expansion loop requirements for piping distribution systems in very early phases of a project. While placing pipe supports is a relatively easy and straightforward task, providing accurate loop locations and dimensions for hot piping systems can often be challenging. In the early phases of any project, it is impractical, costly and time consuming to perform detailed stress analysis of a piping system to provide expansion loop dimensions, and therefore approximate methods are often used. Comprehensive overview of these existing procedures most commonly used in the engineering practice is given in this article. However, the fact is that most of the existing methods are based on the inconvenient charts and tables with scarce background data. Procedure proposed in this article is based on over 150 expansion loop models and provides a simple and accurate analytical method to size and verify piping loops. Two fully worked examples show the simplicity and accuracy of the proposed model and its advantages over the methods typically used in the engineering practice.

AB  - In this paper functional relationships between bayonet-tube heat exchanger effectiveness (P), heat capacity ratio (R) and number of transfer units (NTU) for all possible flow arrangements are derived. Temperature profiles of hot and cold fluid are also given. Analysis showed that regarding heat exchanger surface eight possible flow arrangements can be reduced to four. AB  - In the process of margarine production it’s very important to maintain the temperature of margarine within the prescribed range. For this purpose the hot water from the heat substation within the plant is used, and then delivered to all consumers (tanks, apparatus, pipelines for the transport of fats, etc.). It was noted that during the production there are certain difficulties caused by insufficient butter temperature, which is particularly evident in the winter because of higher heat losses. With that in mind, this paper aims to show the principle of identifying and removing the identified deficiencies in the process and storage heating system.
