Variational Approach to 2D and 3D Heat Conduction Modeling

AB  - The paper proposes an approximate solution to the classical (parabolic) multidimensional 2D and 3D heat conduction equation for a 5 × 5 cm aluminium plate and a 5 × 5 × 5 cm aluminum cube. An approximate solution of the generalized (hyperbolic) 2D and 3D equation for the considered plate and cube is also proposed. Approximate solutions were obtained by applying calculus of variations and Euler-Lagrange equations. In order to verify the correctness of the proposed approximate solutions, they were compared with the exact solutions of parabolic and hyperbolic equations. The paper also presents the research on the influence of time parameters τ as well as the relaxation times τ∗ to the variation of the profile of the temperature field for the considered aluminum plate and cube.

AB  - It is known that Fourier’s heat equation, which is parabolic, implies an infinite
velocity propagation, or, in other words, that the mechanism of heat
conduction is established instantaneously under all conditions. This is unacceptable
on physical grounds in spite of the fact that Fourier’s law agrees well
with experiment. However, discrepancies are likely to occur when extremely
short distances or extremely short time intervals are considered, as they must
in some modern problems of aero-thermodynamics. Cattaneo and independently
Vernotte proved that such process can be described by Heaviside’s telegraph
equation. This paper shows that this fact can be derived using calculus of
variations, by application of the Euler-Lagrange equation. So, we proved that
the equation of heat conduction with finite velocity propagation of the thermal
disturbance can be obtained as a solution to one variational problem

AB  - In order to estimate the flow rate of water at the hydrant nozzle, the standards such as
SRPS Z.C1.050:1989 and DIN 14 440 cannot be applied to all types of nozzles that obey the
requirements of reference standards SRPS EN 671-1: 2015 or SRPS EN 671-2:2015. In this paper
the authors present tables that can be used for estimating flow in function of pressure and flow
characteristic of hydrant nozzle with orifice diameter of 8 and 16 mm.

AB  - In this paper, we obtain the results of coincidence and common fixed points in b-metric spaces. AB  - Statistical regularity of random mechanical failures of the bucket wheel excavator will be considered based on dispatcher's reports about excavator-conveyors-spreader (ECS-III) on the Tamnava - West Field Open Cast Mine in Lazarevac (Serbia) system failures in the period from 2003 to 2011. This kind of failures happens suddenly due to undetectable defects, unexplainable causes, and unavoidable failures. Reliability functions R(t), failure rate.(t) and failure density f(t) of the bucket wheel excavator will be empirically determined. It was concluded that the random failures could be well approximated by the Exponential distribution. Below, serial reliability configuration of the BWE subsystem was analysed and the failure frequency as well as the values of the failure rate by subsystems were determined. Finally, proactive maintenance approach, which represents the latest innovation in the field of maintenance, will be presented. This approach to maintenance utilizes various technologies in order to achieve extension of operational life and elimination of reactive maintenance.

AB  - Приказано је неколико приступа анализи пожарних ризика, и најважније методе за процену које су развијене на основу њих. Те методе имају сличне основне параметре. AB  - In this paper, we present a new theorem on the existence of solutions for a three-function scalar equilibrium problem. Compactness is expressed in terms of the existence of feasibility sets of arbitrarily small measures of non-compactness, in addition to the completeness of the domain. AB  - In this article random mechanical failures of bucket wheel excavator at open cast mine "Tamnava Zapad" are analysed. Random mechanical failures of mining equipment may represent an important factor in coal production because these types of failures occur unpredictably. Some of the reasons for the occurrence of such failures are unde-tectable defects, unexplainable causes, and unavoidable failures. In addition, here we have failure of equipment that has a large investment and productivity value. Statistical regularity of the component failure distribution of this system is analysed based on dispatcher's reports about EBS system failures in the period 2003-2011. The proposed distribution is analysed by theoretically, using suitable tests. By using statistical distribution we get the expected uptime of the bucket wheel excavator, for each year, which represents an important factor in maintenance programs and periodic inspections/repairs on bucket wheel excavator and mining components, in general.
