AB - Previous research shows that Kaizen's benefits are multiple and evident,
but its practices in the supply chain have been sufficiently examined now.
Conversely, we are witnessing numerous issues in contemporary global
supply networks. In this survey, after conducting a literature review, three
research questions regarding Kaizen modes of usage were formulated and
tested on the sample of 195 enterprises that are part of the global supply
chain, located in 31 countries, and active in two different types of
industries – aircraft, and transportation. A combined approach containing
descriptive statistics, reliability, factor analysis, and statistical hypothesis
testing by Kruskal-Wallis one-way ANOVA and Mann-Whitney U tests
were used. Results show significant differences between Kaizen practices
applied in countries such as Italy, the United Kingdom, Canada, the USA,
Japan, and China, where national and corporate cultures differ. Kaizen
implementation significantly differs between companies operating in the
aircraft and transportation sectors, which is unsurprising since aircraft
industry has a higher formalization level. The goal to determine the
differences in Kaizen practices around the globe was fulfilled since
statistically significant differences indicate the importance of the
contextual factors and connect adverse and Kaizen events.

AB - Previous research shows that organizational factors influence quality improvement programs, and when there is a fit, it is leading to better business performances. Accordingly, the purpose of this paper is an analysis of interdependence between organizational culture and quality improvement via testing the differences between dimensions and types of organizational cultures and applied procedures for quality improvement techniques on companies from 32 countries worldwide. Following detailed exploration of the available literature, data collection is conducted on 200 production enterprises in multinational supply chain. Upon this, further statistical examination is conducted by comparison of the companies in dependence of its locations - continents. Results show that there are significant differences on dimensions of organizational culture and applied quality improvement procedures depending of geographical location of companies. Accordingly, results of this paper prove that contextual approach promoted in ISO 9001:2015 has to be applied and organizations that operate in different countries and continents must decide how much to localize their organizational culture and related management practices to fit within the host country context.

AB - Unapređenje kvaliteta podrazumeva primenu alata, tehnika, metodologija i aplikacija kvaliteta.
AB - Quality improvement implies the application of quality tools, techniques, methodologies and applications. Through their proper use, the desired level of quality can be achieved and then continuously improved. Kaizen implementation could be of particular significance. This paper covers a survey done at a large multinational company supply chain (sample size 200 companies) and analyses the application of Kaizen and contextual and performance variables using correlation analyses. Survey results showed that the implementation of Kaizen in the company increases performance indicators, especially in the area of quality. Also, Kaizen application is positively correlated to variables such as organizational goals and objectives, the level of formalization, reward system, conflict management and progress and development of employees.

AB - Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to investigate the influence of ISO 9001 quality improvement requirements in ISO 9001:2008, i.e. the corrective and preventive actions and internal audit, on customer satisfaction. Design/methodology/approach: For the purposes of the study, data were collected via a survey on 200 aerospace and transportation companies that belong to a Canadian multinational company supply chain. The relationships between the corrective and preventive actions and internal auditing, on the one hand, and customer satisfaction, on the other, were examined via the structural equation modeling technique. Findings: The major contribution of this study is that it has identified internal audit as the most influential continual improvement ISO 9001 requirement prior to the ISO 9001 transition phase, along with the corrective actions, while the preventive actions in the present formulation do not significantly influence customer satisfaction. Research limitations/implications: This study is based on a cross-sectional survey conducted on the supply chain level in the aerospace and transportation sector; hence, a longitudinal study is possible as a future research avenue. The generalizability of this study’s findings is limited to similar supply chains around a multinational company consisted of companies that have at least ISO 9001 standard, but also fulfill other industry-specific requirements. Also, findings are based mainly on quality managers’ attitudes, so future studies are recommended to examine other positions’ views, too. Practical implications: This research contributes to the literature and bridges the gap between theory and practice. It could be of value to both the certification bodies and the organizations that are interested in improving customer satisfaction by implementing ISO 9001 in the multinational supply chains context such as the aerospace and transportation sector. Originality/value: While the influence of the ISO 9001 standard on customer satisfaction has been the subject of prior research, this is the first time that the simultaneous effect of the corrective and preventive actions and internal auditing on customer satisfaction has been studied. The validity of the removal of preventive actions from ISO 9001:2015 has also been analyzed.

Prema rezultatima sprovedenog empirijskog istraživanja dominantne dimenzije organizacione kulture multinacionalnih preduzeća su: upravljanje rizikom, razvijena komunikacija u organizaciji, postavljanje merljivih ciljeva i zadataka, posedovanje razvijenog formalizovanog sistema procedura i njihova upotreba, primena sistema nagrađivanja, rešavanja konflikata u organizaciji, ulaganje u znanje i kompetentnost zaposlenih i njihovo redovno unapređivanje i razvitak.

AB - Unlike previous studies that have revealed a link between quality improvement programs and organizational culture typologies in individual companies, this study describes organizational culture dimensions that affect the use of quality improvement tools and methodologies and how both affect supply chain company performance. Structural equation modeling methods are applied to a sample of 200 organizations in the supply chain of a Canadian multinational company. The results show that employee promotion and investment constitutes the most influential cultural dimension. Organizational objectives and an employee reward system individually affect Kaizen. When the level of formalization in an organization is high, Kaizen and total quality management tools are used more intensively. When the level of formalization is low, lean manufacturing and internal audits are used more intensively. Superior communication in an organization causes plan-do-check-act approaches, lean manufacturing methods, corrective actions and internal audits to be used less intensively. Generally speaking, most quality improvement tools and methodologies positively influence business performance. These results suggest that organizations can improve business performance levels by selecting appropriate quality improvement programs depending on existing organizational culture dimensions and may thereby develop an organizational culture that enables successful quality improvements in a supply chain context.

AB - Quality improvement initiatives failures have triggered scientists, experts, and practitioners for
long period of time while this issue becomes even more serious since today competition moves beyond a single firm into the supply chain. The aim of this survey is to find statistically significant differences of quality improvement practice between groups of companies in multinational supply chain. In the first phase, the survey is emailed to all 87 multinational company manufacturing sites and the responses were received from 62 companies (response rate 71.3%). Based on received responses, in the second phase their suppliers worldwide are contacted and 143 supplier companies have replied. There were 153 companies from aerospace (planes) and 47 companies from transportation sector (trains). The total number of received responses in survey was 200. The responses came from 6 continents and 32 countries. In the sample approximately 70% of the plants had more than 500 workers. Differences in quality tools and techniques application were statistically tested. There were found significant differences in quality improvement
practice between aerospace and transportation sectors. Aerospace companies have more advanced quality improvement practice. There also were found significant differences in quality improvement practice between multinational company manufacturing sites and their suppliers. It could be noticed that suppliers are very well chosen, since they have slightly higher values of quality improvement practice dimensions. Most frequently used basic quality tools are flow chart, histogram and Pareto diagram; the most frequently used advanced tool is CPM/PERT, and the most frequently used quality technique is brainstorming, followed by benchmarking and FMEA. The results of this survey have implications for business practice since it has proven that special attention has to be put on core business products and suppliers choice.

AB - Purpose-Lean management and Six Sigma concepts are derived from two different points of view, but it is evident that the role of employees is crucial in both concepts. The purpose of this paper is to survey which employees' behaviour dimensions can lead organization to better concepts integration and how Lean Six Sigma activity contributes to employees' performance. Design/methodology/approach-Research methodology is designed to empirically check, on large sample of companies in multinational company supply chain, if employees' factors are both predictor and response variables of Lean Six Sigma concept. To check stated hypothesis factor, reliability and multiple regression analysis are used. Findings-The first finding of this study is that reward system and training are significant predictors of Lean Six Sigma activities. The second part of findings shows that Lean Six Sigma dimensions, such as Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control/Define, Measure, Analyze, Design, and Validate, 5S and Kanban positively influences employees' performance, described by employee satisfaction, absenteeism, salaries and benefits, employees' commitment and employee turnover rate. Research limitations/implications-Poka-Yoke application is not found as a significant predictor of employees' performance. Accordingly, to explore that interesting finding, possible future research topic is more detailed analysis of Poka-Yoke application in similar supply chains. A longitudinal analysis using structural equation is possible direction of future work, too. Practical implications-This survey answers the need for Lean and Six Sigma unified methodology achievement in soft factors area and gives applicable results for companies in supply chain that produces low-volume, high-complexity products. Originality/value-Original and valuable conclusion is that employees' factors are both predictor and response variables of Lean Six Sigma concept application.

AB - This study empirically examines the impact of quality tools on business performance in a sample of 119 Serbian industrial firms. Quality tools are classified into three primary groups according to their usage pattern by means of factor analysis and reliability testing: quality tools for reviewing current conditions, for analysing current conditions and for production planning and control. The relationships between these groups of quality tools and business performance measures were tested using stepwise regression analysis. Quality tools for reviewing current conditions have a significantly positive impact on most business performance dimensions, which is to be expected due to the fact that Serbia is in the phase between quality assurance and total quality management. Quality tools for analysing current conditions significantly influence productivity, while those for improvement have a positive effect on capacity expansion as a development performance measure.

As such, it combines and harmonizes aerospace requirements outlined in previously different aerospace standards. AS9100 Revision C was issued in 2009 and it was revised to align with ISO 9001:2008 requirements. This article tries to explain why and where this standard is different than common ISO 9001 standard along with the benefits that result from its implementation.

AB - The paper first overviews the available research in the field of contingency factors and gives an analysis of previous research. on the basis of the model was made by Khandwalla experimental testing of interdependence of contingency factors in the domestic industrial enterprises is done. For the sample of 111 industrial companies correlation analysis is conducted and the hypothesis of the model are confirmed. It is confirmed that the demographic variables are related to the environment and organizational structure, that the technology is correlated with all the contingent factors than demographic variables, that strategy is related to the management style and behavior of employees, the environment is correlated with demographic variables, technology and organizational structure, the organizational structure is correlated with demographic variables, technology and environment, the style of management is linked to strategy, technology and behavior of employees, as well as the behavior of employees is linked to strategy, technology and style of management. The proposal for further research is usage of more advanced statistical verification techniques. .
