AB - Prostate cancer is the second most commonly occurring cancer in men. Regardless of statistics, screening for prostate cancer is an individual decision and most male patients come for their first examination with an already developed disease, as they are not adequately informed. The study aimed to emphasize the importance of preventive tests for urological diseases in the Republic of Serbia, raise awareness about urinary problems, and present social marketing strategies for prevention. The results confirm the generally lower awareness of respondents under the age of 30, followed by those who finished university, go to the doctor two or three times a year, and receive information other than by watching TV. Implemented research indicates the influence of the marketing principles and social marketing strategies on possible target groups of the male population over 50, which is aimed at raising awareness of the importance of prevention of urological diseases and the expected changes in the health behavior of the target population.

AB - Three types of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were synthesised with a custom-made Ultrasonic Spray Pyrolysis (USP) device, from aqueous solutions of gold (III) chloride (AuCl3) and gold (III) acetate (AuC6H12O6), with an initial concentration of Au 0.5 g/L. AuNPs were collected in suspensions of deionised (D.I.) water with the stabilisers polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) or polyethylene glycol (PEG), followed by the process of freeze drying the AuNPs to be useful as a new additive for the cream. The standard cream base was used as a matrix for preparation of three types of cream with AuNPs in the same concentration ratios. The third AuNPs cream was prepared with a patented hydroxylated fullerene water complex (3HFWC-W) matrix. To examine the effect of AuNPs as additive in creams, a six-week study of test creams was conducted on 33 volunteers with no dermatological diseases. During the study three main parameters of the skin where measured: Collagen quality, skin moisturisation and the epidermis-dermis function. The results of the study found improvements of collagen quality between 18-24 %, achieved due to the use of AuNPs in standard creams, while the cream with the combination of 3HFWC-W and AuNPs gave significantly higher improvements with a value of 45.7 %. It was also discovered that hydration of the skin (stratum cornum) increased by 6.4-9.6 % in standard creams with AuNPs, and 73.7 % in the 3HFWC/AuNPs' cream. Similar results were measured by the epidermisdermis function, where 24-28 % improvement for standard creams with AuNPs was identified, and 38.4 % for the cream 3HFWC-W/AuNPs.

AB - At first glance, the human knee can look like a simple rotational joint but the real knee has more complex geometry and kinematics. Kinematics of the human knee depends on its geometry and applied analysis showed that it is a rolling joint, where the upper part of tibia rolling on femur lower end. Such kind of motion can be simply explained with rolling curves generation. In the simplest case, circle rotates on a flat surface and each point on circle circumference will generate one cycloid. Curves defined through this method highly depend on the shape of the rolling object and shape of the surface where the object roles.
In the literature complex, geometry and movement of the human knee can be solved with a relatively complex mechanism that can reproduce real movement or simply by replacing knee with one rotational joint. Application of the new popular technologies (3D printing, CAD) and new approaches of mechanisms design (where the mechanism is produced as one part, and its geometrical shape allows relative movement through elastics deformation), can simplify the overall geometry and kinematic of an artificial knee joint. This will further simplify manufacturing processes, lower costs of the knee and leg prosthetics, and increase its durability by reducing the number of movable parts.

AB - In the last couple of years, 3D printing has become one of the most popular manufacturing techniques in designing of the new prototype parts, mechanisms and machines. Available and relatively cheap 3D printing techniques allows fast manufacturing of different complicate prototypes (rapid prototyping) by using plastics as base material, like FDM. In the most cases, these prototypes are used only for functionality testing and design analyzing, yet that is a small part of the possibilities that 3D printing can give in parts design. For example, 3D printing can be utilized for creation of the cheap personalized limb prosthesis, toward specific needs of each patient. One of the biggest advantages of the method is production of the complex geometric shapes, done layer by layer, which provides a new level of freedom in part design and significantly impact their final characteristics, since conventional techniques of parts manufacturing have many limitations. By modifying the inner geometric structure of the parts produced from regular material, new properties of the engineered part are obtained, with different behavior, which the starting material didn't have. This, engineered materials are named metamaterials. Using the metamaterials it is possible to produce parts with properties that doesn't appear in nature. This paper will present how new parts, mechanisms, and machines can be designed and manufactured using metamaterials and 3D printing.

AB - Manufacturing of railway vehicles require use of many different special support tools which have a role to simplify production process and to increase productivity. Beside, design of these elements requires a special care about worker safety. Subject of this paper is static strength analysis of the mobile lifting platform designed for railway industry. This type of mobile platform is used for worker outside of the wagon body and can provide operation up to 4000 mm. Platform was designed from steel tubes, square and circular cross section joined by welding and moving joints. Hydraulic cylinder, with adequate and controlled initial force, is used for platform lifting and lowering platform. Static strength analysis was done using finite element method by SolidWorks software package. Bearing in mind very complex construction of mobile platform, simplification of numerical model was done. Platform structure was divided in three subassemblies: working platform, folding scissors and lower chassis, and for each of them numerical analyses were performed. In accordance with purchaser requests loads were applied on the working platform, while the reaction force was measured at constraints located on the lower chassis and at the joint between the piston of hydraulic cylinder and scissors structure. Next to primary analysis of the main platform structure, static strength analyses were carried out for fences and stairs. All analyses were accomplished in accordance to valid standards. Obtained results showed that the assemblies of mobile platform, including fences and stairs, are able to withstand load of workers and required equipment without permanent deformation.

AB - The paper idea was to investigate is it possible to design running prosthesis with similar design as running blades using only 3D printing technique and ABS, as one of the most used plastic material in the world. This material is very strong and manufactured parts are not very flexible. By using metamaterials some models of human running prosthesis were created and a number of simulations were made through SolidWorks Design Study package. Used approach allows finding of the best solution for custom-made human running prosthesis with the best characteristics.
Present paper gives the evidence that using of smart geometrical design of inner structure of various parts and models to reduce its mass and improve their mechanical characteristics is possible. Also, obtained model is suitable for 3D printing and it can be opportunity to product cheap prosthesis for a large number of people with disability.

AB - This paper investigates the influence of different geometrical structures on new concepts for the formation of technical systems. The ability of some geometric structures to withstand a certain level of deformation, was used to replace joints in certain assemblies of technical systems. Now, all movements are accomplished with deformation of geometrical structures. Obtained results from simulations define the level of deformation which structures can withstand. Designing of 3D models and simulations were conducted in SOLIDWORKS 2016. Several different structures of metamaterials will be examined. Sixty-four simulations were conducted by changing the internal structure, thickness and orientation of metamaterials. For each simulation, the results were presented as stresses and displacements. Additionally, three model of pliers have been simulated, and its results were compared with the results from previous simulations.

AB - Hydrogels have peculiar physical and chemical properties and therefore, are used in a variety of biomedical applications including drug delivery agents, prosthetic devices, the repair and replacement of soft tissues, contact lenses, etc. Consequently, investigation of mechanical, physical and chemical properties is crucial in biomedical application of hydrogels. Poly (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (pHEMA), as a biocompatible hydrogel, was first hydrogel used for making soft contact lenses. Many researches have been modified pHEMA with the aim of improving its properties. Application of nanotechnology is one of the possible solutions for improving the characteristics of this biocompatible hydrogel. In this paper, polyhydroxyethyl methacrylate was used as standard material for soft contact lenses (SL 38). This material was incorporated with fullerene C60 (SL38-A), fullerol C60(OH)24 (SL 38-B) and fullerene metformin hydroxylate C60(OH)12(OC4N5H10)12 (SL 38-C), respectively. Three new nanophotonic soft contact lenses were made. The main goal of this research was to develop appropriate process parameters for soft contact lens micro-turning. Also, studying the thermal decomposition of standard soft contact lens, pHEMA, as well as three new nanophotonic soft contact lenses was one of the main objectives. Results have shown that manufacturing process of nanofotonic soft contact lens is considered to be a micro-turning process regarding the cutting depth and tool nose ratio. Thermal stability of all three nanofotonic soft contact lenses was significantly improved comparing to the standard soft contact lens. Still, further research needs to be done so these nonophotonic soft contact lenses could find practical application in the field of biomedical engineering.

AB - Colorectal carcinoma (CRC) as a major health problem in industrialized countries is highly preventable and can be successfully treated in the early stages. However, incidence and mortality of CRC has increased over the last two decades. The reason could be that the current recommended options for screening are costly, unpleasant for patients, have low sensitivity and poor accessibility for screening. These reasons provide a strong rationale for the development of a new method. Opto-magnetic imaging spectroscopy (OMIS) as a new imaging method for the characterisation of various materials, including human tissues, is based on light-matter interaction, using a Poincare sphere for light properties and a Bloch sphere for electron properties, and allows the detection of biophysical characteristics within human tissue samples. Compared with histopathology examination, the OMIS method achieved an accuracy of 92.59% using Multilayer Perceptron Neural Network as a classifier, and 89.87% using Naive-Bayes, respectively. The obtained results, based on the investigation of 316 samples, both tumour and normal mucosa (162 cancer cases), strongly suggest that the new non-invasive OMIS method might be used for tissue characterization ex vivo to discriminate between the healthy and carcinoma state of the colon. However, it opens up the possibility of using the same method in in vivo studies to assist physicians in targeting biopsies of colorectal tissue.

AB - Different geometry of metameterials has ability to withstand a certain level of deformation, and is used to replace joints in certain assemblies of technical systems. Using this characteristic of metametrials, all movements could be accomplished with deformation of technical system structures.

This paper cover examination on two different kind of geometry structure of metamaterials, regular and irregular octagon, and the influence of their geometrical structures, as a new concepts for formation of technical systems. A larger number of simulations have been conducted by changing internal structure and orientation of metamaterials. Also, those metametarials have been used on some of the model of pliers. Further, the pliers models were simulated, and results were compared with the results from previous simulations. For each simulation the results were presented as stresses and displacements with the same load, but different direction of force. SOLIDWORKS 2016, as a powerful tool for this kind of analysis, had been used for simulation, design of the 3D models and whole study. The results obtained from simulations, using design study, define the level of deformation which structures can withstand, and therewithal, they gave the ideas for methodology of the concept for preparing geometry of metametrials.

AB - Reducing of the data dimensionality is necessary and required for optimal model performance in machine learning. Two different approaches are used in practice to solve this problem. The basic idea of the first one is to reduce dimensionality by removing highly correlated variables which implies that multiple variables measure same thing. It is done by removing all variables with high average correlation. In this way, variables are removed regardless to its significance to model accuracy, and as a result model accuracy can significantly drop.

In the second one, for the better understanding of the data, relationship between variables and the model outcome, it is necessary to quantify variable impact on model outcome, and rank them according to these values. By using this approach, variables with lowest importance are removed from data set, and can lead to an increasing in the performance and accuracy of the final model.

In the datasets with the highly correlated variables (e.g. sets of spectroscopy data), the most important variables can be with the highest average correlation, and after removing those variables the accuracy of the model can be significantly reduced. Based on the previous facts, the new method that used the most important variables with lowest correlation is proposed, as a combination of the previous two, and with this approach it is possible significantly to reduce dataset dimensionality where the variables have small correlation.

AB - The later stages of malignant growths are characterized by a severe and progressive depression in the blood
haemoglobin level. Iron is essential for virtually all living organisms and participates in a wide variety of
metabolic processes, including oxygen transport and electron transport. As such, ions of Fe2+ and O2 are
strong paramagnetic, but linked together their complex shows week paramagnetic (0.15 nT) or diamagnetic
properties. As all matter consists of atoms that contain particles with an electric charge, our body and
everything around us is magnetic.
In this study, a methodology usually used in rock magnetism was applied to evaluate the magnetic properties
of the human tissue. We demonstrate, for the first time to our knowledge, usage of the dual speed spinner
magnetometer, with accuracy 2.4 A/m (3pT), for measuring difference of remanent magnetism (gap)
between healthy and cancer colon tissue. The ex vivo experiment was conducted on 76 samples (from 39
patients) immediately after bowel resection. Tissue samples were taken from patients of both sexes, different
ages, and with confirmed histopathological colorectal carcinoma. The results indicate differences between
normal mucosa (healthy tissue) and cancer with average values of 0.91775±0.046 mA/m (1.153 nT) for
healthy tissue and 0.17441 ± 0.009 mA/m (0.219 nT) for cancer, and confirm the existence of differences in
the measurement of paramagnetic and diamagnetic properties of healthy and cancerous tissue. Bearing in
mind that the number of 32 samples is good for preliminary research but not good enough for clinical
application, further studies are necessary.

AB - Systematic reviews indicate that deformities of the spinal column are one of the major problem of today’s children and a significant problem in the future since it’s increase from year to year. During the growth and development, the locomotor system is all the time under the influence of external and internal factors, and as such is subject to deformation. Heritage and bad habits of posture, the load caused by school bags, inadequate working environment, insufficient physical activity leads to disturbed statics of the spinal column, and results with the occurrence of kyphosis, scoliosis and lordosis. The problem of static disorder directly has the influence and makes disorders in dynamics. Physical exercise programs that include strength training and stretching, with the special emphasis on the load of anti-gravitational postural muscles, should help in the prevention of health problems that might arise. Of course, the maximum effect is achieved by activity throughout life. Complete control of procedures of the kinetic parameters has a very important role in the rehabilitation of children with irregular body posture, as well as in therapeutic methods in general. Measuring instruments which estimate anthropological and functional status of the individual belong to the principles of complete control, with the aim of improving diagnosis, monitoring and determining the effect of rehabilitation treatment. The subject of our work belongs to the field of biomedical research, and in the narrow sense it treats the issue of body deformities in children of preschool and school age, treatment of the same, and determination of the condition of postural disorders, i.e. status of the spinal column, as well as the possibility of developing and implementing the new program for correction, with a special emphasis on scoliosis. Theme of our work gives the opportunity of application of a new therapeutic programme “scolio-correct” to the correction of spinal deformity.

AB - Background/aim: Opto-magnetic imaging spectroscopy (OMIS) was used as a novel method to detemine tissue molecular conformation changes during hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy. The aim of this study was to examine the usefulness of OMIS for the assessment of HBO therapy effectiveness on the diseased tissue.

Methods: OMIS is concerned with obtaining paramagnetic/diamagnetic properties of materials, related to the presence of unpaired/paired electrons based on their interaction with visible light. The basic tool is light of wavelength in the range between 400 nm and 700 nm and its interaction with tissue. The study included 22 subjects: 16 angiopathy patients and 6 healthy subjects as the control group. OMIS was used with patients on the 1st, 10th and 20th session and with the control group on the 1st, 10th and 20th day without HBO therapy in between.

Results: The obtained results showed that healthy skin of all the control group subjects had the same shape curve. In the angiopathy patient group, before the first session OMIS showed tissue disorder and after the last session results resembled more closely the results in healthy tissue. The differences in the tissue state in the angiopathy group before each session were noticeable, showing normalized tissue under the influence of HBO.

Conclusion: The results show that OMIS could be used as a diagnostic tool for detection of the tissue state before and after the HBO therapy.

According to data obtained by the WCRFI (World Cancer Research Fund International), cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women, with 528,000 new cases diagnosed worldwide in 2012. However, most (84%) of cancer occurred in less developed regions (445,000 cases), compared with
more developed regions (83,000).
There are different methods to characterize cervical tissues and detect cancer. One of them is FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared) spectroscopy as a method that is relatively recently got a new application in the detection of various types of cancer, and as such is being tested in research as a method of screening for
cervical cancer. FTIR detects irregularities of the cells on a molecular level The development of morphological changes which are available for detection under a microscope were preceded to distortion, and are showing the great importance of FTIR spectroscopy for early detection of precancerous lesions.
The second one other method is a Raman spectroscopy whose advantages over other optical methods, includes high spatial resolution, includes high spatial resolution, the use of less harmful NIR radiation, less demanding preparation of the samples and its application to in vivo / in situ measurements. The molecular
structure of proteins and lipids is different between neoplastic and normal tissues and therefore Raman spectroscopy has been considered promising for the diagnosis of cancer. Despite the fact that the IR and Raman spectroscopy will have important clinical applications, they are expensive for preventive, early
detection of epithelial cancers. Therefore it is necessary to develop a cheap and reliable method for screening in general doctor practice offices and clinical diagnostic. These findings bring into focus the need for implementation of the new methods for cervical cancer, notably for screening, monitoring and diagnostics.
Methods: Study included a group of 791 patients; with 1712 tiles obtained by comparative PAP study and a novel optical method OMIS (Opto-magnetic imaging spectroscopy). The OMIS is a nanophysical diagnostic technique based on the interaction of electromagnetic radiation with valence electrons within the
sample material, therefore examining electron properties of matter (covalent bonds, hydrogen bonds, ionelectron interaction, Van der Waals interaction). The OMIS technique has already yielded positive results in diagnosing epithelial tissues such as skin, colon, oral cavity and other biological samples. The method is noninvasive, and applicable both in vitro and in vivo. These advantages provide basis for an excellent performance in the environment of screening testing, where speed, ease of use, accuracy and low costs equally contribute to successful early diagnosis of cancer.
Results: We compared tiles from same patients. The method showed clear differentiation and classification with high sensitivity prepared with the classical staining method for PAP test (642 stained tiles) and the non-stained tiles (149 non-stained tiles) for all PAP groups (for stained tiles: specificity 78,16%, sensitivity 97,92% and accuracy 85,18%). However, the most important classification is between third (inflammation) and forth (cancer in situ) groups. Much better results were found out for non-stained tiles (specificity 100%, sensitivity 74,07% and accuracy 82,50%), than for stained tiles.
Conclusion: Comparing OMIS method with classical PAP test the time for diagnosis is shorter, expenses are less and efficiency increased. The most important advantage of the OMIS is possibility to use non-stain PAP smears, what gives much quicker diagnosis, around 30 times, to compare with the conventional stain PAP smears method.

abstract = "Background.
The most important advantage of the OMIS is possibility to use non-stain PAP smears, what gives much quicker diagnosis, around 30 times, to compare with the conventional stain PAP smears method.",
