Microstructure and fracture mode of unalloyed dual-phase austempered ductile iron

AB  - Dual-phase ADI material microstructure consists of different amounts and morphologies of ausferrite and free ferrite, obtained by subjecting ductile iron to specific heat treatment. Its strength is lower compared to comparable ADI materials but exhibits a higher ductility, the major disadvantage of ADI. In the current study, an unalloyed ductile iron was intercritical austenitized in two-phase regions (??+??) at four temperatures from 840 to 780 ??C for 2 h and austempered at 400 ??C for 1 h to obtain dual-phase ADI with different percentages of free ferrite and ausferrite. Light and scanning electron microscopy was performed for the metallographic and fracture studies, respectively. Microscopy results were correlated to tensile testing results. The results indicated that, as the amount of ausferrite present in the matrix increases, higher values of strength and lower ductility are obtained. The fracture surfaces of dual-phase ADI microstructures with 22.8% of ausferrite in their matrix have regions of quasi-cleavage fracture around last-to-freeze zones, related to the presence of ausferrite in those areas. The specimens with the highest values of ausferrite of 86.8% among the dual-phase microstructure have a dominant quasi-cleavage type of fracture.

AB  - Mašine alatke sa parelelno-serijskom (hibridnom) kinematskom strukturom predstavljaju nekonvencionalan tip mašina alatki čije karakteristike zavise od kinematske konfiguracije. Zbog toga je neophodno da se za svaki tip mehanizma izvrši posebna analiza tačnosti. Ako tačnost neke
mašine opisujemo kao karakteristiku koja je posledica niza osobina mehaničke i upravljačke strukture, onda je jedan od najboljih pokazatelja karakteristika mašine stanje tačnosti pozicioniranja. Kod konvencionalnih mašina alatki koje se baziraju isključivo na serijskoj (rednoj) kinematskoj strukturi postoje standardi i preporuke (ISO 230-2, VDI DGQ 3441), koje se bave problemom tačnosti pozicioniranja. U ovom radu se opisuje merenje tačnosti pozicinoranja mašine alatke sa hibridnom kinematskom strukturom „O-X glide“ prema standardu ISO 230-2 i analiziraju se dobijeni rezultati.
AB  - Machine tool with parallel-serial (hybrid) kinematics structure represents unconventional type machine tools whose characteristics depend on the kinematic configuration. Therefore, it is necessary to perform a separate accuracy analysis for each type of mechanism. If we describe the
accuracy of a machine as a characteristic that is a consequence of a number of properties of the mechanical and control structure, then one of the best indicators of the characteristics of a machine is the state of positioning accuracy. Conventional machine tools based exclusively on serial (in-line) kinematic structure have standards and recommendations (ISO 230-2, VDI DGQ 3441) that deal with positioning accuracy. This paper describes the measurement of the positioning accuracy of a machine tool with a hybrid kinematic structure "O-X glide" according to the ISO 230-2 standard and analyzes the obtained results of this mechatronic system.

AB  - Machine tools with a hybrid kinematic structure represent an unconventional type of machine tools whose characteristics depend on the kinematic configuration. Therefore, it is necessary to perform a separate accuracy analysis for each machine configuration. The analysis of the characteristic values obtained by examining the accuracy of positioning is the starting point for further improvement and calibration of this type of machine. In the case of conventional machine tools with a serial kinematic structure, appropriate standards and recommendations are used to evaluate the state of the machine through testing the positioning accuracy. The paper describes the preliminary measurement of the condition of the machine tool with the hybrid kinematic structure "O-X glide" according to the ISO 230-2 standard, carried out in order to adjust the mechanical subassemblies of the machine, which precedes the process of calibrating the machine's control system.

AB  - The paper presents the programming and program verification on 3-axis hybrid kinematics CNC machine for rapid prototyping. The original hybrid (parallel-serial) 3-axis O-X glide mechanism developed for the purpose of building rapid prototyping machine and multifunctional machine tools is presented. The paper analyzes the available programming software, which can be one of the standard CAD/CAM systems or a specialized CAM system. In addition to the analysis and presentation of the programming method procedure, the program verification by material removal simulation and virtual machine simulation according to a given program was also considered.
Verification of programming methods was realized by machining several characteristic parts. The paper presents the first prototype of a machine, developed for the purpose of testing characteristics with an open control system based on the LinuxCNC.
