AB  - U cilju dobijanja podataka o uticaju sadržaja vlage na meljvost ugljeva izvršena su eksperi-mentalna istraživanja. Eksperiment je obuhvatio šest uzoraka ugljeva kolubarskog basena. Izbor uzoraka je izvršen u zavisnosti od eksperimentom dobijenih vrednosti Hadrgrove indeksa meljivosti (HGI)  sa  ciljem  da  se  pokrije  celokupna  oblast  eksperimentalno  dobijenih  vrednosti  HGI.  Pored određivanja HGI, a sve uzorke je izvršena tehnička, organo-geoemijska i petrografska analiza.Ligniti su u vlažnom stanju po svojoj prirodi žilavi, mekani i masni. Snižavanjem sadržaja vlage ligniti postaju krhkiji. Iz ovog razloga, vrednosti HGI imaju različite vrednosti ukoliko se određuju pri različitim sadržajima vlage.Hardgrove  indeks meljivosti ugljeva (HGI)  ima nelinearnu  zavisnost od udela  vlage  u uglju. Sve krive imaju dve prevojne tačke, jedan minimum i jedan maksimum vrednosti HGI u ispitivanoj oblasti. Minimalne vrednosti HGI ima u intervalu 15 –22% masenog udela ukupne vlage u uglju, dok maksimalne vrednosti HGI ima za sadržaj ukupne vlage 5 –13%.
AB  - In order toobtain data on the impact of moisture content on the grindability of coals, experi-mental  research  was  conducted.  The  experiment  included  six  samples  of  coal  from  the  Kolubara basin.  The  samples  were  selected  based  on  experimentally  obtained  values  of  their  Hardgrove grindability index (HGI), in order to cover the entire range of experimental HGI values. In addition to  determining  the  HGI,  proximate,  organo-geochemical,  and  petrographic  analyses  were  per-formed on all samples.Lignites are naturally tough, soft, and greasy when in a moist state. By reducing the moisture content, lignites become more brittle. For this reason, HGI values have different values depending on the moisture content at which they are determined.The Hardgrove grindability index of coal (HGI) has a nonlinear dependence on the moisture content of the coal. All curves have two inflection points, one minimum and one maximum value of HGI in the tested range. The minimum values of HGI are in the range of 15 –22% of the mass frac-tion of total moisture in coal, while the maximum values of HGI are for a total moisture content of 5 –13%.

Experimental and CFD analysis of wire coil turbulators in biomass boilers

AB  - To achieve as complete fuel burnout with as little excess air as possible, small wood log boilers (< 50 kW) use stage combustion. The first stage is often a process similar to downdraft gasification that consequently produces a flue gas laden with particulates. To prevent the build-up of solids and promote heat transfer in pipes of the convective part of these boilers, wire coils are used. The paper presents their in-situ examination together with CFD analysis. The analysis is carried out in a 460 mm long pipe, with a diameter of 82.5 mm, equipped with different wire coils for flue gas temperatures in the range between 300 °C and 150 °C. The analyzed coils are with and without a conical spring at their free end. The addition of this conical top is economical and should influence the rotation of the core flow. Proper pipe surface cleaning limited the analyzed wire coil designs to the dimensionless pitch, p/d, in the range between 0.36-0.61, dimensionless wire diameter e/d = 0.04-0.1, and pitch to wire diameter ratios p/e = 3.75-14.3, and three different angles (60⁰, 90⁰, and 120⁰) of the conical top. The goals are to find the optimal flue gas velocity for the given operating conditions, pipe, and wire coil dimensions, and to investigate the addition of the conical top on heat transfer enhancement. Several evaluation criteria are used to achieve the goals.

Experimental studies of wood chips charactristics influence on boiler performance and pollutant emissions

AB  - Wood chips are often used as solid fuel in modern biomass boilers. Experiments were conducted on 22 boilers located in Serbia burning wood chips as fuel. The influence of wood chips characteristics is analyzed in relation to the flue gas losses and the thermal efficiency of the boiler. Measured useful heat output of the tested boilers was 460-2585 kW. Moisture content of the wood chips was 19.21-38.23% with a net calorific value of 10177-14139 kJ/kg and ash content of 0.84-3.59%. Thermal efficiency of the boilers was 88.78-94.06%, flue gas losses 5.84-11.13% and flue gas temperature 121.83-188.44 °C. Experimental research and analysis of the results showed that an increase in moisture content of wood chips lead to a decrease of net calorific value i.e., decrease in flue gas temperature. Moisture content of wood chips has an influence on both useful heat output and boiler thermal efficiency. The experimental results showed that for a given boiler construction, this impact is not negative. Based on regression analysis, mathematical expressions were derived for the calculation of thermal efficiency and flue gas losses. Throughout the experiments, pollutant emissions were measured, NOx, CO, and particulate matter.

AB  - U radu je prikazan numerički proračun pada pritiska pri pneumatskom transportu letećeg pepela  iz  termoelektrane.  Cilj  istraživanja  je  verifikacija  razvijenog  modela  upoređivanjem numeričkih rezultata sa merenjima pritiska duž cevovoda. Numerički model je razvijen na osnovu obimnih  eksperimentalnih istraživanja  sprovedenih  na  sistemu  pneumatskog  transporta  pepela kolubarskog  lignita,  velikog  kapaciteta  i  velike  dužine.  Ojler-Ojlerov  pristup  omogućava sveobuhvatno istraživanje složenih pojava pri pneumatskom transportu, uzimajući u obzir dvofaznu prirodu  sistema  i  pružajući  mogućnost  sagledavanja  ponašanje  čestica,  pada  pritiska  i  drugih ključnih parametara. Formiranje mreže za Ojler-Ojlerove  simulacije  u  OpenFOAM-u  predstavlja složen  proces,  što  uključuje  definisanje  računskog  domena,  generisanje  odgovarajuće  mrežne strukture i postavljanje odgovarajućih graničnih uslova i za gasnu i za čvrstu fazu. Potrebno je pažljivo  razmatranje  da  bi  se  što  vernije  predstavila  geometrija  i  definisali  svi  parametri  u pneumatskim transportnim sistemima. Ojler-Ojlerove numeričke simulacije pneumatskog transporta pepela  u  kosoj  cevi  su  sprovedene  u  OpenFOAM-u, koristeći paket twoPhaseEulerFoam  solver. Numerička mreža je formirana kao O-mreža za deonicu cevovoda dužine 90 m, prečnika 0,2604 m i nagiba od 1,885 °. Sve ćelije mreže su značajno veće od prečnika čestica pepela. Rezultati numeričkih simulacija  u  pogledu  pada  pritiska  se  veoma  dobro  slažu  sa  eksperimentalnim  rezultatima  za ispitivani slučaj. Iako je Ojler-Ojlerov model izutno složen u smislu definisanja graničnih  uslova, pokazao se kao pouzdan za za razmatrani slučaj, odnosno za razmatrane uslove.
AB  - This paper presents a numerical calculation of pressure drop in pneumatic conveying of fly ash from a thermal power plant. The objective of this research is to verify the developed model by com-paring  the  numerical  results  with  pressure  measurements  taken  along  the  pipeline.  The  numerical model is developed based on extensive experimental research conducted on a high-capacity and long-distance pneumatic conveying system for Kolubara lignite ash. The Euler-Euler approach enables a comprehensive investigation of the complex dynamics involved in pneumatic conveying, considering the two-phase nature of the system and providing valuable insights into the particle behavior, pres-sure drop, and other key parameters. Creating a mesh for Euler-Euler simulations in OpenFOAM can be a complex process. It involves defining the computational domain, generating a suitable mesh structure, and ensuring proper boundary conditions for both the gas and solid phases. Careful con-sideration is required to accurately represent the geometry and capture the relevant flow physics in pneumatic conveying systems. In this study, Euler-Euler numerical simulations of pneumatic convey-ing of ash in an inclined pipe are conducted in OpenFOAM, using twoPhaseEulerFoam solver. Nu-merical mesh is generated as an O-grid for a pipeline section with a length of 90 m, a diameter of 0.2604 m, and an inclination of 1.885 °. All mesh cells are significantly larger than the ash diameter.

AB  - Fosfati su od suštinskog značaja u oblasti poljoprivrede i oko 95% svetske proizvodnje se ko-risti u industriji đubriva. Nakon procesa mlevenja, fosfat (kao i sve druge rasute materijale) je neop-hodno transportovati na dalju preradu. Sistemi pneumatskog transporta uvek imaju prednost u od-nosu na mehaničke sisteme, pre svega zbog pogodnosti koje pružaju. Različiti tipovi fosfata, što važi i za ostale naizgled iste materijale, se mogu u velikoj meri razlikovati po svojim karakteristikama. Zbog toga je neophodno adekvatno razmotriti fizičke karakteristike rasutih materijala kako bi se ostvario pouzdan rad sistema pneumatskog transporta i kako bi se izbegli mogući problemi. U radu je razmatran problem u radu sistema pneumatskog transporta mlevenog fosfata.
AB  - Phosphates are essential in the agricultural sector and about 95% of the world production is used in fertilizer industry. After grinding, phosphate ore, as well as any other bulk material is re-quired to be transported to further processing. Pneumatic conveying systems are preferred over other mechanical systems due to their usage convenience. Different types of phosphate rocks, as well as other just seemingly the same materials, may widely differ in their characteristics. Therefore, physical properties of bulk material must be taken into the consideration to achieve reliable pneumatic con-veying system operation and avoid possible problems. This paper will address problems with pneu-matic conveying of ground phosphate that occurred in fertilizer production plant.

AB  - U radu je prikazan numerički proračun pada pritiska pri pneumatskom transportu letećeg pepela iz termoelektrane. Cilj istraživanja je verifikacija razvijenog modela upoređivanjem numeričkih rezultata sa merenjima pritiska duž cevovoda. Numerički model je razvijen na osnovu obimnih eksperimentalnih istraživanja sprovedenih na sistemu pneumatskog transporta pepela kolubarskog lignita, velikog kapaciteta i velike dužine. Ojler-Ojlerov pristup omogućava sveobuhvatno istraživanje složenih pojava pri pneumatskom transportu, uzimajući u obzir dvofaznu prirodu sistema i pružajući mogućnost sagledavanja ponašanje čestica, pada pritiska i drugih ključnih parametara. Formiranje mreže za Ojler-Ojlerove simulacije u OpenFOAM-u predstavlja složen proces, što uključuje definisanje računskog domena, generisanje odgovarajuće mrežne strukture i postavljanje odgovarajućih graničnih uslova i za gasnu i za čvrstu fazu. Potrebno je pažljivo razmatranje da bi se što vernije predstavila geometrija i definisali svi parametri u pneumatskim transportnim sistemima. Ojler-Ojlerove numeričke simulacije pneumatskog transporta pepela u kosoj cevi su sprovedene u OpenFOAM-u, koristeći paket twoPhaseEulerFoam solver. Numerička mreža je formirana kao O-mreža za deonicu cevovoda dužine 90 m, prečnika 0,2604 m i nagiba od 1,885 °. Sve ćelije mreže su značajno veće od prečnika čestica pepela. Rezultati numeričkih simulacija u pogledu pada pritiska se veoma dobro slažu sa eksperimentalnim rezultatima za ispitivani slučaj. Iako je Ojler-Ojlerov model izutno složen u smislu definisanja graničnih uslova, pokazao se kao pouzdan za za razmatrani slučaj, odnosno za razmatrane uslove.
AB  - This paper presents a numerical calculation of pressure drop in pneumatic conveying of fly ash from a thermal power plant. The objective of this research is to verify the developed model by com-paring the numerical results with pressure measurements taken along the pipeline. The numerical model is developed based on extensive experimental research conducted on a high-capacity and long-distance pneumatic conveying system for Kolubara lignite ash. The Euler-Euler approach enables a comprehensive investigation of the complex dynamics involved in pneumatic conveying, considering the two-phase nature of the system and providing valuable insights into the particle behavior, pres-sure drop, and other key parameters. Creating a mesh for Euler-Euler simulations in OpenFOAM can be a complex process. It involves defining the computational domain, generating a suitable mesh structure, and ensuring proper boundary conditions for both the gas and solid phases. Careful con-sideration is required to accurately represent the geometry and capture the relevant flow physics in pneumatic conveying systems. In this study, Euler-Euler numerical simulations of pneumatic convey-ing of ash in an inclined pipe are conducted in OpenFOAM, using twoPhaseEulerFoam solver. Nu-merical mesh is generated as an O-grid for a pipeline section with a length of 90 m, a diameter of 0.2604 m, and an inclination of 1.885 °. All mesh cells are significantly larger than the ash diameter.

AB  - Drvna sečka se sve češće koristi kao čvrsto gorivo u modernim kotlovima na biomasu. U radu je razmatran uticaj vlage u drvnoj sečki u odnosu na gubitke sa dimnim gasovima i efikasnost kotlova. Nominalna korisna toplotna snaga ispitivanih kotlova bila je u opsegu 450 – 2000 kW. Sadržaj vlage u drvnoj sečki je bio 19,21 – 38,23%, donja toplotna moć 10177 – 14139 kJ/kg, dok je sadržaj pepela bio 0,84 – 3,59%. Drvna sečka sa većim udelom vlage ima nižu vrednost donje toplotne moći. Efi-kasnost kotlova se kretala 88,78 – 94,06%, gubici sa dimnim gasovima 5,84 – 11,13% a temperature dimnih gasova 121,83 – 188,44 °C. Formirani su matematički izrazi koji daju zavisnost efikasnosti kotla i gubitke sa dimnim gasovima od udela vlage u drvnoj sečki i temperature dimnih gasova.
AB  - Wood chips is often used as solid fuel in modern biomass boilers. The influence of wood chips moisture content is analyzed and related to the flue gas losses and the thermal efficiency of the boiler. Nominal useful heat output of tested boilers was 450 – 2000 kW. Moisture content of wood chips was 19,21 – 38,23% with net calorific value 10177 – 14139 kJ/kg and ash content 0,84 – 3,59%. Wood chips with higher moisture content have lower net calorific value. Thermal efficiency of the boilers was 88,78 – 94,06%, flue gas losses 5,84 – 11,13% and flue gas temperature 121,83 – 188,44 °C. Mathematical equations which gives dependences of thermal efficiency and flue gas losses from mois-ture content od wood chips and flue gas temperature are given in paper.

AB  - Razvoj i širenje primene postupaka aerobne biološke obrade gradskih i industrijskih otpadnih voda praćen je razvojem opreme za aeraciju koja se koristi u ovim procesima. Postrojenja za aerobnu biološku obradu otpadnih voda odlikuju se velikim utroškom energije za aeraciju zbog čega se posebna pažnja mora posvetiti izboru adekvatnog aeracionog sistema. Danas postoji veliki izbor različitih tipova uređaja za aeraciju za koje proizvođači definišu određene parmetre koji se odnose na kapaci-tete, dimenzije, otpore strujanju, efikasnost prenosa kiseonika, sklonost zaprljanju i sl. Ovi parametri su osnova za izbor određene konstrukcije i broja distributera vazduha, kao i izbor ostale opreme (kompresorskih postrojenja, sistema cevovoda, zaporne i regulacione armature i slično). U cilju definisanja pristupa za poređenje distributera vazduha različitih konstrukcija u radu su analizirani osnovni pokazatelji njihove efikasnosti.
AB  - Development and expansion of application of biological treatment processes for municipal and industrial waste water were followed with development of aeration equipment. All plants for biological aerobic treatment of waste water involve high energy consumption for aeration, and therefore special care has to be committed to choice of adequate aeration system. There is a large offer of various types of aeration facilities in the market. Producers define certain parameters: capacities, overall dimensions, flow resistances, oxygen transfer efficiency, soil tendency. These are basic para-meters for selection aeration system construction and selection of secondary equipment (compressor plants, pipe systems, seal and dosing valve, etc.). In the paper were analyzed the basic parameters of aeration equipment efficiency.

AB  - There is evident increase in air pollution in recent years. The dominant sources of air pollution in urban and rural areas, during the heating season, are small individual appliances. In recent years, new combustion plants have been built in several places in Serbia, which use biomass as fuel - wood chips. These plants were built in order to replace multiple existing low-rank coal combustion plants, combining them in one combustion plant. This paper gives review of PM emissions measurements, that were conducted in 8 newly-built wood chip combustion plants. Combustion plants provided heating power between 0,5 and 1,5 MW. Also, proximate and ultimate analysis of fuel is presented for every boiler under consideration.

Effect of substitution of old coal boilers with new biomass boilers on the concentration of particulate matter in ambient air: A case study Mionica

AB  - Residential and commercial solid fuel burning in stoves, small and medium combustion plants have been designated as the largest sources of fine particles with serious impacts on air quality, climate and human health. Having in mind the age and condition of the plant, as well as domestic raw lignite of poor quality which is widely used in these plants, this problem becomes even more pronounced in Serbia during the heating season. An additional reason for such high dust emissions certainly lies in the fact that most of these combustion units, in addition to being in very poor condition, work without any flue gas system for dedusting, also the mentioned lignite is low in calorific value with high ash and moisture content. Replacement of such combustion units with modern biomass boiler units is certainly appropriate, and in places where natural gas is not available, this energy source is the best solution.
In this paper and for the case study of Mionica town, the influence on the concentration of PM in ambient air will be presented by replacing two old coal boilers with new biomass boilers. Namely, two old boilers (2x950 kWth) covered the heat demand of the sports centre as well as primary and secondary school, these boilers were replaced with two new biomass boilers of the same installed thermal capacity.
In order to analyse the influence of boilers substitution on PM concentration in ambient air, the regulatory air dispersion model, recommended by the US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) AERMOD, is used, which is based on the Gaussian model. Air dispersion modeling within this Study includes only sources which are associated with this Case Study. Other sources of emissions and background pollution are not included. The aim of this Study is not to show the air quality in the domain, but rather to provide a representative assessment of the impact of boilers substitution on PM concentration in the model domain. For the purpose of this Study NASA digital maps SRTM1 - Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (resolution ~ 30m, or 1 arc-sec) are used and processed by the AERMAP, while meteorological, data processed by the AERMET, are site specific MM5 (Grid Cell 12 km x 12 km), giving an hourly-modelled meteorological data set for full five consecutive calendar years. The results presented in this paper were obtained using a model which includes the emissions of TSP, PM10 and PM2.5 from the old and new boilers. An emission inventory has been prepared based on combustion calculations and emission factors (EMEP/EEA, 2019) for old coal fired boilers, while for new biomass boilers, site-specific measurements and PM size distribution factors (US EPA, AP 42, 2003) have been used.
Modelling results consist of graphical (isopleth diagrams) ground level concentrations for TSP, PM10 and PM2.5 and various average periods.

abstract = "Residential and commercial solid fuel burning in stoves, small and medium combustion plants have been designated as the largest sources of fine particles with serious impacts on air quality, climate and human health. Having in mind the age and condition of the plant, as well as domestic raw lignite of poor quality which is widely used in these plants, this problem becomes even more pronounced in Serbia during the heating season. An additional reason for such high dust emissions certainly lies in the fact that most of these combustion units, in addition to being in very poor condition, work without any flue gas system for dedusting, also the mentioned lignite is low in calorific value with high ash and moisture content. Replacement of such combustion units with modern biomass boiler units is certainly appropriate, and in places where natural gas is not available, this energy source is the best solution.
In this paper and for the case study of Mionica town, the influence on the concentration of PM in ambient air will be presented by replacing two old coal boilers with new biomass boilers. Namely, two old boilers (2x950 kWth) covered the heat demand of the sports centre as well as primary and secondary school, these boilers were replaced with two new biomass boilers of the same installed thermal capacity.
In order to analyse the influence of boilers substitution on PM concentration in ambient air, the regulatory air dispersion model, recommended by the US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) AERMOD, is used, which is based on the Gaussian model. Air dispersion modeling within this Study includes only sources which are associated with this Case Study. Other sources of emissions and background pollution are not included. The aim of this Study is not to show the air quality in the domain, but rather to provide a representative assessment of the impact of boilers substitution on PM concentration in the model domain. For the purpose of this Study NASA digital maps SRTM1 - Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (resolution ~ 30m, or 1 arc-sec) are used and processed by the AERMAP, while meteorological, data processed by the AERMET, are site specific MM5 (Grid Cell 12 km x 12 km), giving an hourly-modelled meteorological data set for full five consecutive calendar years. The results presented in this paper were obtained using a model which includes the emissions of TSP, PM10 and PM2.5 from the old and new boilers. An emission inventory has been prepared based on combustion calculations and emission factors (EMEP/EEA, 2019) for old coal fired boilers, while for new biomass boilers, site-specific measurements and PM size distribution factors (US EPA, AP 42, 2003) have been used.
Modelling results consist of graphical (isopleth diagrams) ground level concentrations for TSP, PM10 and PM2.5 and various average periods.",

Korišćenjem modela koji kao rezultat daju kvantitativne iskaze, eliminiše se problem subjektivnosti u određivanju teritorijalnih uticaja i omogućava ukrštanje dobijenih rezultata sa postojećim podacima o emisijama zagađujućih materija iz drugih izvora u uticajnom području (zoni uticaja). Na taj način se omogućava precizno sagledavanje kumulativnih i sinergetskih uticaja u uticajnom području, kao osnovi za svako buduće planiranje na tom prostoru.

AB  - The paper presents a simple mathematical model for designing, optimizing and simulating small-medium CHP scale plant with use of biomass waste downdraft gasification. A downdraft gasifier has been used as the starting point in the study, due to its low tar content and effective way of using heat in the engine's exhaust gases to dry and pyrolyze the different solid biomass waste. Hot water from the cooling circuit of the engine and from producer gas cooling is directly used for the district heating network, air or steam preheating. The mathematical model includes modelled components as a downdraft gasifier, an internal combustion engine using the characteristic equation approach method. The mathematical model enables the outputs of the plant to be evaluated and calculated for different types of biomass and operating conditions. The results demonstrate that it is a useful tool for assessing the performance of CHP plants using several types of biomass waste and enables comparisons to be made between operating conditions for real applications.

abstract = "The paper presents a simple mathematical model for designing, optimizing and simulating small-medium CHP scale plant with use of biomass waste downdraft gasification. A downdraft gasifier has been used as the starting point in the study, due to its low tar content and effective way of using heat in the engine's exhaust gases to dry and pyrolyze the different solid biomass waste. Hot water from the cooling circuit of the engine and from producer gas cooling is directly used for the district heating network, air or steam preheating. The mathematical model includes modelled components as a downdraft gasifier, an internal combustion engine using the characteristic equation approach method. The mathematical model enables the outputs of the plant to be evaluated and calculated for different types of biomass and operating conditions. The results demonstrate that it is a useful tool for assessing the performance of CHP plants using several types of biomass waste and enables comparisons to be made between operating conditions for real applications.",

AB  - Област процесне технике је као посебно усмерење у наставни план на Машински факултет Универзитета у Београду  технике уведена 1959. године. Развојем домаће процесне и прерађивачке индустрије, развијала се и настава увођењем предмета у којима су се изучавале технолошке операције са једне стране, и технолошки апарати и машине, са друге стране. Већ је наставни план од 1973. године обухватио седам предмета усмерења (Конструкција и прорачун апарата, Основе технолошких процеса, Машине и апарати за механичке и хидромеханичке операције, Простирање топлоте и масе, Технолошки и дифузиони апарати, Индустријске пећи), а настава из области сушења уводи се кроз посебан предмет Сушаре. Иако је сушење једна од многобројних процесних операција које су сврстане у основне процесне операције (механичке, хидромеханичке, топлотне, дифузионе, хемијске и биохемијске), због свог значаја и заступљености у многим технолошким процесима, издваја се као посебна целина за себе. У великом броју случајева добијање одређених производа заснива се првенствено на процесу сушења. На тај начин, наставни програм предмета Сушаре обухватио је следећа поглавља: Дефиниција процеса сушења, подела, примена и значај процеса и опреме за сушење, дефиниција основних величина, мерење масеног удела влаге; Статика процеса сушења; Кинетика процеса сушења; Кинетика конвективног сушења влажног материјала; Криве кинетике сушења; Криве брзине сушења; Пројектовање сушара; Опште поставке при пројектовању сушара, основни захтеви код сушара, избор конструкције сушаре и помоћних уређаја код сушаре, избор агенса сушења и носиоца топлоте; Билансирање процеса; Материјални и енергетски биланс сушаре; Теоријска и стварна сушара; Графичко приказивање одвијања процеса у сушари; Топлотни прорачун сушара; Топлотни прорачун сушара помоћу равнотежног дијаграма "енталпија-састав" и "енталпија-температура", сушење загрејаним ваздухом и разблаженим димним гасовима и степен корисности конвективних сушара; Типови и класификација конструкција сушара; Помоћни уређаји сушара; Техноекономски показатељи рада сушара.

И тако, скоро тридесет година касније, као резултат вишегодишњег рада аутора у настави и инжењерској пракси у овој области започиње рад на књизи "Сушаре – теорија и задаци", првенствено ангажовањем предметног наставника професора др Милоша Кубуровића, и неколико сарадника. Петнаест година касније, уз велики труд и рад бројних колега са Факултета и ван њега, настала је ова верзија књиге, а материја обрађена у књизи постала је и саставни део предмета Сушаре на мастер студијама Модула за процесну технику и заштиту животне средине на Машинском факултету у Београду.

Првом рецензијом текста од стране професора др Димитрија Вороњеца, унапређена је сама концепција, али и начин приказа извода из теорије у поглављима књиге. Коначне верзије прегледали су др Ивона Радовић професор Технолошко-металуршког факултета у Београду и др Радивоје Топић професор Машинског факултета у Београду. Њихове сугестије су допринеле фином дотеривању књиге, на чему им се посебно захваљујемо.

Књига обухвата десет поглавља: (1) Прорачун параметара влажних материјала; (2) Термодинамичкa својства влажног ваздуха; (3) Материјални и топлотни биланс процеса сушења; (4) Прорачун параметара сушења, сушење разблаженим димним гасовима; (5) Прорачун параметара сушења са међузагревањем и рециркулацијом ваздуха; (6) Прорачун сушара при шаржном процесу сушења; (7) Прорачун цевних сушара; (8) Прорачун сушења у континуалним коморама за сушење са директним загревањем; (9) Прорачун ротационих сушара и (10) Прорачун сушара са флуидизованим и фонтанским слојем, са укупно 119 рачунских примера. На почетку сваког поглавља приказан је преглед коришћених једначина са допунама које су дате у осам прилога.

Надамо се да ће ова књига бити од помоћи и стручњацима који раде на пословима пројектовања и експлоатације постројења у којима се одвија процес сушења, као и студентима техничких факултета у чијим наставним програмима је ова област заступљена.

Унапред се захваљујемо на свим примедбама и сугестијама које ћемо узети у обзир и уградити у евентуално будуће издање или проширење ове књиге.

Како се ове године навршава 60 година од почетка наставе из области процесне технике на Машинском факултету у Београду, издавање књиге представља мали допринос овом јубилеју и омаж свим прегаоцима из области процесне технике са и ван Машинског факултета у Београду.

AB  - In order to investigate effect of fuel type and refinery furnace for atmospheric distillation capacity on dust emission field tests are performed. Tests include two different fuels (only refinery gas and mixture of 30% fuel oil and 70% refinery gas) and two different furnace capacity (80% and 100%). Those selected condition have been chosen for tests, as a most possible operating conditions. Usage of fuel oil or its mixture with refinery gas depends of current fuels availability within the refinery, while furnace capacity depends on current refinery production process. All procedures for field test are defined and performed in line with ISO 9096 Stationary source emissions — Manual determination of mass concentration of particulate matter, which describes a reference method for the measurement of particulate matter (dust) concentration in waste gases of concentrations from 20 mg/m3 to 1 000 mg/m3 under standard conditions and EN 13284-1 Stationary source emissions – Determination of low range mass concentration of dust – Part 1: Manual gravimetric method (for dust concentrations bellow 5 mg/m3). Furnace construction has been designed in that way that flue gases are discharging through three identical stacks, which are positioned along the top of furnace. All test are performed during the constant operating conditions and on each of stacks. Achieved results indicates that usage of mixture of fuel oil and refinery gas has higher potential for dust emissions comparing with usage of refinery gas only, namely significant difference in dust concentrations is noticed, while effect of furnace capacity on dust emissions, for both tested fuels, doesn’t show significant influence.

AB  - High volumes of coal fly ash are generated in thermal power plants all over the world. Fly ash characteristics primarily depend on coal type, combustion conditions and efficiency of particulate removal in thermal power plants. Therefore, all relevant fly ash characteristics must be investigated in order to design reliable pneumatic and hydraulic conveying systems for its removal from thermal power plants, transport to silos and disposal to landfills. A research study was conducted on more than 60 fly ash samples from a lignite fired thermal power plant. This research aim was to determine physical, chemical and aeration characteristics of fly ash samples in order to analyse their mutual correlation. Parameters that were correlated are mean diameter, bulk density, physical density, oxide compounds (SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3, Cao and MgO), and minimal fluidizing velocity. Simple linear regresion of experimental results showed that there was no strong correlation (R) between average diameter and bulk or physical density. Fly ash oxide composition showed significant correlation to mean diameter, but multiple linear regression should be done. Significant correlation ratio between minimal fluidization velocity and mean diameter, bulk and physical density could not be obtained.

AB  - This paper analyzes the effects of coal grindability and its characteristics on the grinding capacity and power consumption for beater wheel mill during exploitation in thermal power plant TENT B in Obrenovac, Serbia. For this purpose, experiments were made on the mill, before and after its reconstruction. Experiments included the determination of grinding capacity, mill power consumption, and laboratory analysis of coal characteristics and Hardgrove grindability index (HGI). The analysis of experimental results found that the grinding capacity has a negative correlation with the ash content in coal. Moisture content in analysis sample of coal has a positive correlation with the consumption of electricity and grinding capacity. Between the grinding capacity and the value of HGI exists a negative correlation. Analysis of the influence of grindability of coal and coal characteristics on grinding capacity and energy consumption was carried out. Based on coal characteristics and values of HGI, mathematical expressions were derived for the calculation of grinding capacity and electric energy consumption. In addition, ability to predict specific power consumption of the mill on the basis of HGI values, were carried out. Specific power consumption obtained from HGI values showed good agreement with the experimentally determined specific power consumption of the mill.

Modeling of wood chips gasification process in aspen plus with multiple validation approach

AB  - A thermochemical equilibrium model is formulated for wood chips downdraft gasification. Steady state ASPEN Plus simulator was utilized to evaluate producer gas composition and low heating value. Three cases are considered, due to mathematical model developed issues, and described in details. Experimental work was carried out within commercial small-scale CHP system where twelve beech wood samples were taken. Equivalence ratio is between 0.32 and 0.38 and air-fuel ratio ranges from 1.49 to 1.81, when gasifier capacity is optimal, at 250 kW. Mole fractions of CO2, H-2, CO, CH4 and N-2, in dry producer gas, are respectively, 16.06-1764, 1798-20.33, 13.71-1726, 1.65-289 and 43.21-48.36. Multiple validation approach was applied for model verification. The results are in reasonable agreement with different literature sources (experimental work and modeling) and in a great agreement with the modified equilibrium model developed in Engineering Equation Solver found in the literature. Result deviations are explained by two major facts: wood downdraft gasification experiments are to a certain extent different and the model parameters could not be adjusted enough to fully minimize differences between model results. Predicted low heating value of dry producer gas is between 467-5.61 MJ/Nm(3).

AB  - Gasification of waste biomass has double benefit since it presents an efficient and environmentally
friendly procedure to produce energy. Modelling of gasification of demolition wood
and coffee waste, and their mixtures, in downdraft gasifier is investigated. Air is exclusively
used as a gasification agent. A model for waste biomass gasification has been developed using
“Engineering Equation Solver” (EES). The downdraft gasification model, prepared within
this study, is an analytical semi-empirical model that can be used as a tool to analyse the
general trends of biomass downdraft gasification. The main characteristic and advantage
of this model are that involves main gasification sub-processes (drying, pyrolysis, gasification).
Also, the model is capable of dealing with a wide variety of biomasses (based on elemental
and ultimate analysis) and to predict its behaviors during a gasification process (yield and
composition of the products - producer gas, charcoal, and tar). Different gasification process
parameters (temperature, equivalence ratio, air preheating) are varied and discussed in
order to define the optimal (qualitative and quantitative) yield of producer gas for each biomass
and their mixture.

AB  - Prilikom stavljanja postojećeg postrojenja u stanje trajne konzervacije sa pogonskom spremnošću za dalji rad (kratak ili dug period zastoja) potrebno je sprovesti posebne mere da bi se termoelektrana zaštitila od korozije u zastoju kao i da bi se izbegla pojava posledičnih oštećenja. Mere zaštite (konzervacije) prvenstveno imaju za cilj da se suprotstave koroziji u zastoju. Glavni i odlučujući aspekt za uspešnu konzervaciju je kompletno razmatranje svih sistema i komponenata kao i interakcija između mera konzervacije određenih sekcija što iziskuje detaljno planiranje i monitoring ovih mera. U radu je dato idejno rešenje konzervacije kotla koje se zasniva na vlažnom postupku konzervacije vodeno – parne strane cevnog sistema pomoću hidrazina i suvom postupku konzervacije sa strane dimnih gasova, uz prethodno hemijsko čišćenje kotla, pasivizaciju razmenjivačkih površina, zatvaranje kotla i dodavanje adsorbenta sa gasne strane kako bi se relativna vlažnost vazduha dovela u prihvatljive granice za konzervaciju.

AB  - The aim of this experimental study was to evaluate the effect of permeability on the mode of flow that lignite fly ash will support in a pneumatic conveying pipeline. This research was initiated by recurring problems with the long distance and high capacity low grade lignite ash pneumatic conveying system at the 1200 MWe thermal power plant, such as clogging, unsteady flow mode, significant increase of velocity due to pressure drop and erosive wear of pipeline. Ash samples were taken during pneumatic conveying system clogging for further analysis. The experiment was limited to measuring parameters that provide data to determine minimum fluidizing velocity and permeability. The results showed very heterogeneous materials of group B by Geldart, what caused specific phenomenon during the experimental fluidization tests. Minimum fluidizing velocity for this kind of material is not authoritative for defining pneumatic conveying system, since extremely heterogeneous materials at this air speed will remain stationary or will convey very slow or with stoppage, and that required velocities are from 10 to 15 times higher than minimum fluidizing velocity. According to the results, this ash is the most suitable for dense phase pneumatic conveying.
