Numerical investigation of the influence of geometry on the thermal properties of a heat pipe

AB  - The unique property of a very high heat transfer rate in heat pipes, which originates from the phase
change of a high latent heat working fluid, has led to their use in a wide range of engineering
applications such as electronics cooling, heat exchangers, spacecraft and satellites etc. The zeropower
demand, low weight, compactness and reliability further the benefits of their use. A small
amount of working fluid inside a sealed pipe is used to transport heat with a slight temperature
difference between the evaporation and condensation segments. The recirculation of fluid is
realized through a wick structure and driven by capillary forces. In order to investigate the
influence of the shape of the heat pipe on the rate of heat transfer, a numerical test was performed
on two types of flat geometry heat pipes – square and hexagonal shaped, as well as circular and
ellipsoidal shaped. The parameters of interest were pressure and temperature distribution, velocity
in condensation direction and thermal conductivity distribution. Results indicate that the difference
in geometry causes differences in all observed parameters, and thus significantly affects the
thermal properties of the heat pipe.

AB  - In the terms of cost reduction, design flexibility, time and environmentally friendly process, additive manufacturing is gaining acceptance as an innovative technology in the construction industry. The energy demand estimation, as one of the primary parts of building industry nowadays, imposed a need for constant development of the existing materials. Taking into consideration stresses in the material and thermal transmittance value, several mixes that have adequate consistency and workability are described. The common is concrete base consisting of cement, sand and additives. Other elements include geopolymers, fibers, soil, clay, gravel, sulfur. Considering standards and regulations for the maximum thermal transmittance value (U-value), in the countries of Eastern Europe specifically, all considered mixes had greater U-value. The various wall configuration with different cavities inside (empty or filled with sand) enables better thermal properties of the wall that can obtain U-value less than legislation prescribes.

AB  - Razvoj CAD/CAM softverskih paketa omogućio je značajno povećanje efektivnosti projektovanja konstrukcija. Takođe, njihovom upotrebom povećan je kvalitetet i stvorena je mogućnost lakše automatizacije procesa izrade gotovih elemenata i sklopova. Primenom savremenih softverskih alata, značajno se unapređuje kako proces projektovanja tako i sam proizvodni proces. U ovom radu prikazana je primena savremenih softverskih paketa u projektovanju visokonaponskih rešetkastih stubova. Primenom savremenih softverskih alata izvršeno je modelovanje konstrukcije, provera nosivosti i priprema odgovarajuće tehničke dokumentacije potrebne za izradu i montažu konstrukcije.

Numerička analiza udara projektila u ravnu aluminijumsku ploču

AB  - U ovom radu prikazan je numerički proračun udara projektila u aluminujumsku ploču. Razmatrane su ploče različitih debljina izrađene od AA5083H116 alumijum-magnezijumske legure. Karakteristike materijala korišćene u numeričkim analizama modelovane su pomoću Johnson-Cook-ovih konstitutivnih modela za čvrstoću i lom materijala. Razmatran je udar projektila sa konusnim vrhom izrađen od Arne alatnog čelika. Urađene su analize metodom konačnih elemenata (FEM) i kombinovanim metodom gde je zona velikih deformacija modelovana metodom hidrodinamike glatkih čestica, a ostatak metodom konačnih elemenata. Dobijeni rezultati poređeni su sa eksperimentalnim rezultatima iz dostupne literature i izveden je zaključak
