Experimental Investigation of Microcutting Mechanisms in Oxide Ceramic CM332 Grinding

AB  - The paper contains an experimental study of microcutting intended to help the optimization of the grinding process of the oxide ceramic CM332 (99.5% Al2O3) grinding. The need for investigating the mechanisms occurring between the abrasive material and the ceramic is imposed by the fact that grinding is the dominant technology used to achieve the required quality of the workpiece surface finish. The microcutting process was performed with a single diamond cone-shaped grain of tip radius of 0.2mm at varying depths of cut. The investigations were carried out to determine the normal and tangential cutting forces, the critical penetration depth and the specific grinding energy as a function of the grain penetration speed and depth. The critical grain penetration depth separating ductile flow from brittle fracture falls within the 4-6 mu m range. The values of the critical penetration depth are also consistent with the results of changes in the cutting forces and the specific grinding energy. The chip formation mechanism is associated with the presence of median/radial and lateral cracks, ductile flow, chipping along the groove, and crushing beneath the diamond grain, all this affecting the quality of the ceramic's machined surface.

CAD/CAM Sistemi - Prirucnik za vežbe (Pro/ENGINEER - Prakticna primena)

AB  - Studenti trece godine Mašinskog fakulteta u Beogradu imaju mogucnost da kroz izborni predmet „CAD/CAM sistemi“ ovladaju znanjima o metodama i tehnikama izgradnje savremenih CAD/CAM sistema kao i u primeni istih u projektovanju proizvoda, projektovanju tehnologije izrade, simulaciji putanje alata, dobijanju CL file-a i generisanju upravljacke informacije za CNC mašine alatke. U cilju efikasnijeg rada sa studentima na vežbama ukazala se potreba za jednim ovakvim prirucnikom. On ce u mnogome olakšati i samostalni rad studenata iz ovog predmeta i van nastave. Imajuci u vidu da fakultet raspolaže sa licencom Pro/ENGINEER®, verzija Wildfire® 4.0, i da je na raspolaganju studentima na radnim stanicama to je ovim udžbenikom obuhvacen samo ovaj softver.

U prvom delu detaljno se razraduje problem izgradnje geometrijskog 3D modela koji se u suštini svodi, na danas vec, konvencionalne tehnike 3D modeliranja, koje su više manje zajednicke za sve moderne CAD/CAM sisteme. Detaljno se razradjuju najcešce korišcene funkcije oblikovanja modela radnog predmeta u Part modulu kao što su Extrude, Revolve, Blend, Shell, Hole, Round itd. Studentima se pored uobicajenog postupka izgradnje 3D modela na bazi Bulovih operacija nad geometrijskim primitivima, objašnjava i postupak izgradnje 3D modela kada na ulazu u proces geometrijskog modeliranja imamo rezultate fukcionalnih proracuna ili više 2D digitalnih slika, dobijenih skeniranjem magnetnom rezonancom (MRI), kompjuterskom tomografijom (CT) ili industrijskom kompjuterskom tomografijom (ICT).

Problem izgradnje modela sklopova, odnosno viših nivoa ugradnje, detaljno se razraduje u Assembly modulu. U okviru ovog modula moguce je direktno kreirati delove koje ulaze u strukturu sklopa ili da se importuju 3D modeli vec prethodno kreiranih delova sklopa, odnosno proizvoda. Posebna pažnja je posvecena kreiranju 3D modela pokretnih sklopova i simulaciji njihovog kretanja.

U drugom delu udžbenika obuhvacena je problematika CAM modula, odnosno Manufacturig modula, pocev od generisanja modela pripremka na osnovu referentnog modela izratka pa preko definisanja operacija, definisanje tehnoloških zahvata, simulacije kretanja alata, definisanja CL file-a do postprocesiranja i dobijanja NC koda za datu upravljacku jedinicu.

Svaki student na kraju kursa dobija zadatak da modelira neki radni predmet, da projektuje tehnologiju za izradu datog dela, da simulacijom proveri eventualne greske i kolizije, da generise NC program za obradni centar ILR HMC 500/40 sa upravljackom jedinicom FANUC serije O–M i da na kraju taj isti deo obradi.

AB  - Predmet istraživanja je nova generacija domaćih obradnih sistema, zajedno sa proizvodnim tehnologijama, koje su potrebne za razvoj tih obradnih sistema i za njihov nesmetani rad. Ključne oblasti istraživanja u ovim tehnologijama su mašine alatke, roboti, alati, tehnološki procesi i digitalni kvalitet. Istraživanja su usmerena ka tehnologijama otvorene arhitekture, u pogledu sistema upravljanja i programiranja, ali i u pogledu struktura ovih sistema, prateći aktuelna istraživanja u ovim oblastima. Tako se obezbeđuju fleksibilnost tehnoloških resursa i agilnost kompanija, kojima su i namenjeni ovi novi obradni sistemi, sa svojim pratećim tehnologijama. Ovde se daje pregled rezultata istraživanja za 2011. godinu.

AB  - This paper shows the results of investigations performed in the brittle materials microcutting at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Belgrade University. The interactions between a single diamond grain and the machined granite are analyzed. The change in the normal cutting force as a function of grain penetration speed and depth was experimentally established in microcutting of two types of granite originating from Serbia. Based on the grain traces on granite and the generated cracks, the critical grain penetration depth for the formation of brittle fracturing was established. The experiments are intended to assist in the optimization of the grinding process as technology dominant in the granite finishing. [DOI: 10.1115/1.4003521]

AB  - The paper presents the results of to date investigations in the field of ornamental stone micro-cutting using the examples of granite and marble originating from the stone varieties of Serbian location. The diamond grain - machined stone (the "Josanica" granite and the "Plavi tok" marble) interaction was analyzed. The analysis also embraced the changes of the normal cutting force as a function of cutting speed and grain penetration depth in the chosen stone. Based on the grain traces (cracks) that occurred on the surface of the machined stone, the critical cutting depths, at which brittle cutting occurs, were established for the mentioned stones. The presented analysis is to be used for the grinding process optimization as a dominant ornamental stone machining technology with the aim of obtaining quality machined surfaces and preserving the stone surface structure and color.

AB  - In this work results are indicated researches, conducted on the Machine-building faculty in Belgrade in area of micro cutting of fragile materials. Co-operation is here analyzed between diamond grain and processed granite. The change of normal making force of cutting in the function of speed of cutting and depth of penetration at micro cutting of two variants of granites is experimentally set from the location of Serbia. On the basis of tracks on a granite and arising up cracks the critical depth of penetration of grain is set, which fragile destruction is at. The indicated researches must help optimization of process of polishing and polish, being dominant technologies of final treatment of granite.

AB  - U radu je prikazan deo rezultata istraživanja u oblasti nove generacije obradnih sistema. AB  - U radu su prikazani osnovni principi projektovanja proizvoda od polimernih materijala koji se oblikuju livenjem pod pritiskom, kao i osnovni principi projektovanja odgovarajućih alata za njihovo oblikovanje. Imajući u vidu da su zadaci projektovanja spomenutih delova i alata i obrada potrebnih udubljenja u alatima vrlo složen zadatak i u nekim slučajevima je potrebna i izrada prototipova, ovde je data analiza mogućnosti primene CA (Computer Aided) alata u navedenim aktivnostima kroz neke primere primene. Cilj analize je da pokaže u kojoj su meri raspoloživi CA alati u mogućnosti da potpomognu automatizaciju projektovanje proizvoda od polimernih materijala i projektovanje i izradu alata za oblikovanje takvih delova livenjem pod pritiskom. Kao i to u kojoj meri je primena simulacionih modela adekvatna zamena za izradu prototipova.
AB  - The paper presents the basic design principles of polymer products molded by pressure casting, as well as the basic principles of appropriate tools design for their molding. Taking into account that the design tasks of mentioned parts and tools as well as machining of required dents in tools is a very complex task and that in some cases the prototypes are required to be made, the paper gives the analysis of the possibilities of applying the CA (Computer Aided) tools in mentioned activities through some examples of application. The aim of the analysis is to demonstrate how much the available CA tools can help the automation of polymeric material product design, and tool design and manufacture for molding such products by pressure casting. Also, the paper shows the degree to which the application of simulation models is an adequate substitution in prototype making.

Taking into account that the design tasks of mentioned parts and tools as well as machining of required dents in tools is a very complex task and that in some cases the prototypes are required to be made, the paper gives the analysis of the possibilities of applying the CA (Computer Aided) tools in mentioned activities through some examples of application. The aim of the analysis is to demonstrate how much the available CA tools can help the automation of polymeric material product design, and tool design and manufacture for molding such products by pressure casting. Also, the paper shows the degree to which the application of simulation models is an adequate substitution in prototype making.",

AB  - The paper presents PCBN-Ciborit cutting tools life and wear test results. The effects of the machining regime when turning amorphous-crystalline Fe80B20 and Fe79Cr16B5 coating systems applied to conventional workpiece materials were assessed. It has been shown that the observed tool wear mechanisms are complex in their character and are dominated by abrasive-mechanical, adhesive and chemical effects in the cutting zone. Under changing turning conditions tool life is affected by the structural-phase composition and by the non-homogeneous structure of the coating. Specifically, when turning gas-flame coatings deposited with a Fe80B20 electrode and electro-arc coatings with a Fe79Cr16B5 electrode the lowest wear and the highest tool life was achieved at cutting speeds of nu = 1.1 to 1.2 m/s and a back rake angle of gamma = -10 degrees It has been demonstrated that a change of the back rake angle from gamma = 0 to -10 degrees does not have a great effect on tool life contraty to the case with gamma = -20 degrees.

AB  - Kod obrade radnih predmeta sa skulptorskim površinama na 3-osnim CNC mašinama alatkama, putanja alata je  ključni  element za  kvalitet obrađene  površine  za vreme obrade.  U radu se  daje postupak generisanja putanje alata pri obradi skulptorskih površina za glodalo sa loptastim završetkom za slucaj izo-hrapavosti. Generisanje putanje alata se vrši u fonkciji zadate visine ruba koji ostaje između dve susedne putanje alata. Ti rubovi definišu hrapavost obradene površine.

AB  - This paper offers an experimental study of the microcutting mechanisms in marble grinding to aid the optimization of the marble grinding process. The necessity for investigating these mechanisms is dictated by the increased use of marble in many applications and the fact that grinding and polishing processes are the dominant technologies used to meet surface finish requirements in this natural material. The experiments are aimed at the determination of the normal component of the cutting force and of the grain traces in microcutting with a single diamond grain. The investigations carried out make provisions for establishing critical grain penetration and cutting depths and allow the prediction of the normal cutting force component as a function of grain penetration speed and depth.
