AB - The main subject of this manuscript is mountain streams used by construction of small hydro power plants. The motivation for this research stemmed from a number of conflicting opinions about the justification of the construction of small hydropower plants and their facilities. This research encompasses different methods for the analysis of the justification of the construction of a small hydropower plant, starting from tradition in correlation with water mills, through a techno-economic approach to a complex multi-criteria research model. All methods are represented by objective formulas. World experiences are also presented, through the level of potential utilization, compared to the degree of development. The possible positive and negative impacts of the construction of such facilities for the exploitation of the potential of small watercourses were analyzed. After the conducted research, and with respect to the principle of minimum energy, which has become the paradigm of modern civilization, it can be concluded that using the potential of small watercourses by building small hydropower plants belongs to the domain of using renewable energy sources and that it is a function of sustainable development. Decision makers are recommended to exclusively apply a multi-criteria methodology, which can holistically include all technical, economic, environmental, social and other non-profitable but important impacts.

AB - Mining is one of the technology processes which significantly affect the environment. Contemporary science is
often focused on renewable resources, but non renewable resources and their mining are also present and deserve more
intense research, due to its complex role in the economy. On the other point of view, non renewable resources as mining
products are necessary to maintain and improve the life quality level. This conflict is not sustainable in long term
perspective. From the aspect of sustainable development the primary task is to ensure the development right for future
generations. It means that intensive level of interdisciplinary research is necessary to provide initial conditions
(available reserve of ore) and utilization dynamic of mineral resources. This paper analyzes some aspects of
correlation between sustainable development and mining. Mathematical model that describes the mentioned ideas is
developed in this manuscript, including the conflict of economic goals, principles of environmental protection and
sustainable development.

AB - The contemporary economy paradigm is globalization. This paper contains the interdisciplinary expertise on the
innovative solutions of sustainable development of urban areas and cleaner environment. Due to inequality between the
developed and undeveloped parts on the regions and countries, big migrations are happening. The result is recognized
in overcrowded cities. Concentration of people on small areas produces serious negative consequences on the
environment and the quality of the life. This paper aims to point out innovative models of cities from the perspective of
sustainable development. New population migrations, relating to their elementary and civilization needs require better
solutions. Holistic concept of blue green cities is the latest and the most advanced stage in sustainable development for
urban areas. Different renewable energy implementation models and principals of circular economy up to zero waste
are researched in this manuscript, representing support of the main idea of blue green cities.

AB - To address the question of weather stands are managed sustainably in the Novi Pazar region (Southwest Serbia), this study compares the quantity of standing wood biomass in the Debeljak-Medenovac unit at the beginning and end of a ten year study period. The ecological and energy value of wood biomass as compared with other types of fuel were evaluated. The carbon credit benefits for the area of studied forest management unit were also estimated. The results show that in the study period the planned cutting volume was in line with the volume planned within the ten-year plan. The data obtained and calculated from the measurements indicate an increase in volume at the end of the study period. The wood volume exploited over this period amounted to an average of 2361,20 m3/year, i.e. 96,51% of the planned cutting volume, meaning that not all of the planned volume was utilized. In addition, it was determined that biomass is the highest-ranked renewable source of energy. The effects of carbon storage are equally important, considering that in the study period the loss in CO₂ storage on the barren land of the forest management unit was 255,000 EUR. It was concluded that the forest management on the sample area was based on the principle of sustainability.

AB - The research aimed at presenting an example on how biomass production could be managed,
ecologically and energy value of biomass calculated, how it can be used and under which
conditions as well as how is the quantity of biomass determined. This paper will analyse
biomass as a renewable energy source and how reliable it is, how cutting should not be
demanding and the variety of ways biomass can be used. It will also present the most rational
way to exploit biomass. This example could be used as the reference data for forest
management centre Novi Pazar, which manages six forest management units. At the same
time, it enables comprehending the need for all six forest management units and justify their
existence. With such data, obtained at the level of forest management unit, the future
operations can be planned and future needs for increased capacity estimated, as well as the
potential yield that can be expected from the overall biomass.

analyses of optimal concept selection of small hydro development. Technoeconomic small hydro system needs to be environmentally friendly and
socially acceptable solution. Environmental and social parameters are
quantified by Delphi method. They are results of Environmental and Social
impact assessment study of the project. Environmental and social parameters
are incorporated in the techno-economic analyses of the optimal sustainable
concept of small hydro development, by Electre method, as a possible multiattributive operational research model. System of small hydro power plants
optimization for Prokletije streams catchments area is case study where the
developed model is tested and proved. Economic cost and total investment of
fifteen possible small hydro power plants have been upgraded with quantified
environmental and social parameters and analyzed in the function of
sustainable economic development of Prokletije region. The main contribution
of this research is quantification of social and environmental parameters and
their simultaneous and equal incorporation with technical and economical
parameters into mathematical model for decision making process, which
