Advancements in biotechnology have allowed the use of lubricants obtained from oilseeds in the sensitivity environment. Such oils are drawing attention as biodegradable alternatives for synthetic esters because they are less expensive and are available from renewable resources. The physical and chemical properties, and friction and antiwear characteristics of chainsaw oil based on domestic New Sunflower oil were studied. Properly formulated vegetable oil-based lubricants, e.g., New Sunflower, could be an appropriate base oil for lubricants. A properly formulated biolubricant was comparable with mineral base lubricant, and could an adequate substitute for chain saw lubricants.en
