Predictions of heat transfer from a flat plate to impinging jet by numerical simulations
Abstract
A numerical investigation is carried out to predict heat transfer and turbulent fluid flow in an axisymmetric turbulent impinging jet. Four common near-wall two-equation-and three Reynolds stress models were considered in the simulations. The results of the simulations were compared with the relevant experimental data. It was found that the obtained results by these, most widely used turbulence models, showed significant disagreement with the real physical situation. Therefore, a new Reynolds-stress turbulence model, which is capable of describing and predicting phenomena more correctly in this kind of complex, anisotropic and turbulent fluid motion, was proposed.
