The paper presents the results of the investigation of the cavitation resistance of refractory materials based on basalt, mullite, cordierite, zircon and chromite for the production of parts of equipment in metallurgy and mining. The experiment was conducted using ultrasound vibration method according to ASTM G-32 standard. During the determination of the resistance to the effect of cavitation, a change in mass of the sample was observed as a function of the time of the cavitation. The morphology of damage caused by the effect of cavitation was followed by scanning with an electron microscope, and the level of degradation of the surface of the samples was quantified using the image analysis.
