dc.description.abstract | In this work, a comprehensive study of functionally graded materials (FGMs) also known as Innovative composite material, under the influence of surface and body forces is conducted. The composite materials were widely used by engineers to design various engineering components. These components made up of composite materials did serve the purpose of engineering applicability but also showed its ineffectiveness in longer run which obliged the necessity for innovation in composite material class. Hence, researchers started working on a material that would override the in-effectivity of composite materials in handling of stress-strain. This led to rise of an innovative class of material, known as functionally graded materials (FGMs). Engineering components with cylindrical geometry and made up of these functionally graded materials under the influence of external forces are analysed, in general. The idea of our work is to understand the behaviour of functionally graded materials subjected to mechanical, thermal and other severe working conditions by conducting analytical and numerical analysis, thereby proposing an appropriate model to engineers for its applicability. The research work conducted is reported in the thesis in form of six chapters, in the sequence as introduction, literature review and problems based on elastic as well as creep deformation. | sr |
