The residual stress provoked by different technological processes (after welding) and instant state of pressure vessels are always very important topic in industry. Here, the application of holographic and interferometric methods in the evaluation of the status of the possible cracks and crack evolution is presented. There are many possible holographic schemes and practical techniques of the realization of standard testing. For one of the chosen holographic technique, a series of experiments are performed by different pressure in metal vessels in order to study the status of the stress field. The holographic methods are compared to other more standard testing methods in the mentioned area of exploration and investigation. Optical (especially holographic) methods are considered as more sensible and also more reliable than magnetic (or the other) confirmed in the praxis.
