On the dynamic modeling of flexible manipulators
Abstract
Some of the issues involved in the dynamic modeling of single-link flexible manipulators are examined. In particular, we revisit the problem of reference frames, closed-form expressions of characteristic equation, mode shapes and orthogonality conditions when the assumed modes method is the method-of-choice for finite dimensionalization of the system, and the concept of geometric stiffening.
