Influence of crack position and repair activities on the stress state in a shaft tooth
Abstract
Numerical analysis of the stress state in a tooth of a repaired shaft in Zelezara Smederevo is presented, along with the repair welding procedure. The need for repairs arose due to exploitation conditions and regular maintenance. Due to repair welding activities, cracks have occurred, which can affect the shaft tooth integrity. The machining process, focused on crack elimination, as well as the reduction of their influence, is given in this paper. The use of finite element method confirmed that cracks with length less than 5 mm do not affect the integrity of the tooth in the case they are located in the compressed front zone of the tooth, i.e. if the cracks are positioned longitudinally.
