When engineering content is created and applied, it is often stored and forgotten. Current information retrieval approaches based on statistical methods and keyword matching do not satisfy users’ needs in the engineering domain. Current approaches to information retrieval based on statistical methods and keywords are not effective in the understanding of engineering content, because they are not designed to be directly applied to the engineering domain. The paper presents the current state of development of engineering ontology and suggested the method of its development at the conceptual level, in purpose to reuse and sharing of knowledge into the certain field.sr
