The aim of this paper is shortly to analyze and give an overview of application of biomedical
engineering in typhlology and assistive devices which are being used by blind and low vision
persons. This overview will highlight the significance of modern technologies in area of
biomedical devices and apparatus and their usage. Biomedical and assistive devices which are
being used in habilitation, rehabilitation, as help in recovery, overcoming, or faster managing
dissabilities present in children and adults are numerous, and here will be shown only these
used the most. Assistive technologies used in habilitation and rehabilitation are the product of
rehabilitation engineering activities.
