A New Type of Briquette Grinder for the Improved Efficiency of Biomass Combustion

Abstract

Improving the energy efficiency of existing and newly built installations for biomass combustion by use of a new kind of briquette grinder - a device which transforms the biomass briquettes into pieces of combustion optimized shape and size. The use of the device eliminates most of the differences between nonstandard types of briquettes in terms of their compaction, size and moisture content. The use of crushed or grinded briquettes is rare since it requires utilization of expensive and bulky machines, not affordable to small users. The proposed device, considerably smaller in size and within lower price and power range enables optimized utilization of wide range of briquetted biomass and fully automated feeding of a furnace.
