Research on risk prioritization at hydraulic excavator using fuzzy FMEA method

The study recorded data on delays in hydraulic excavators over a period of one year. The observed delays were classified into groups according to the type of cause and the degree of danger was assessed by experts in relation to
the safety of the operator, the environment, the failure of the observed machine and financial losses. The Fuzzy FMEA method was applied to prioritize the identified causes of downtime, i.e. risk selection. The result of the research indicates the advantages of incorporating the knowledge and experience of decision makers in the evaluation of FMEA parameters, Severity (S), Occurrence (O), Detection (D) through a semiquantitative approach based on combination of real performance and downtime indicators and linguistic statements for FMEA parameters.
