The paper presents the benefit of using waste heat in a cogenerative plant based on a gas engine, where the fuel is obtained from biomass gasification. By selling the produced electricity to the Operator at subsidized prices and using heat for space heating during winter and cooling during the summer, the trigeneration facility has a simple payback period of 2 years. This paper gives a description of the biomass gasification process and a description of the installation for combined heat and electricity production. The principle of waste heat utilization for cooling energy production within absorption chillers was also presented.
