Evaluation of residual life of steam turbine rotors
Abstract
A consideration is given to the problem of determining remaining operational life of steam turbine rotors at the following mechanisms of crack initiation and propagation: low-cycle thermal fatigue, high-cycle fatigue and creep. Finite element method is used to analyze stress fields, steam pressure and temperature effects. The estimation method applied permits to bring to light some critical points in power plant equipment which require close examination.
