AB - Barium titanate (BT) perovskite particles were surface modified by means of mechanical treatment and used as inorganic component in polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) based composites. The changes in electrical properties of the composite films with increasing in filler content were followed by dielectric spectroscopy, breakdown strength and D-E measurements. A comparison of the properties of the composites prepared with untreated and mechanically activated particles revealed that there is a significant difference in their performances at low filler concentrations (<20 wt%). Introduction of the surface modified ceramic particles into PVDF matrix led to an increase of the dielectric constant without affecting significantly the electrical breakdown strength. In contrast, when as received BT particles were used a filler, both dielectric constants and breakdown strengths of the composite films were lower than the corresponding values observed for the pure PVDF. At higher concentrations, however, the influence of pre-treatment of the filler on the effective electrical properties becomes less significant. The obtained results were discussed in terms of the pronounced crystallization of polar β and γ crystal phases of PVDF in the presence of surface modified BT fillers, which is confirmed by Raman spectroscopy.

AB - This study investigates the effects of ultrasound, in combination with chemical pretreatments, on the quality attributes (total phenolic and carotenoid content, antioxidant activity
(2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl assay (DPPH)), ferric-reducing ability (FRAP), CIE L* a* b* color,
non-enzymatic browning, rehydration ratio, textural and morphological properties) of red pepper
subjected to drying (hot air drying or freeze drying). The fractional factorial design was used to
assess the impact of factors. The global Derringer desirability function was used to determine the
optimal conditions for the best quality attributes of dried pepper. The drying method influenced total
phenolic content, a* (redness), and initial rehydration ratio; pretreatment time significantly affected
FRAP antiradical activity, a*, chroma and non-browning index, while pH-value had a significant
effect on the texture of dried pepper. Non-enzymatic browning was reduced to 72.6%, while the
DPPH antioxidant capacity of freeze-dried peppers was enhanced from 4.2% to 71.9%. Ultrasonic
pretreatment led to changes in the pepper morphology, while potassium metabisulfite (KMS) was a
more effective additive than citric acid.

AB - In this study, we report the influence of vanadium oxide (VO), as a photosensitive component, on the photoactivity of TiO2 nanotubes (TNTs). A series of TNTs of varying tube diameter were synthesized by the anodization of titanium foils at different voltages, while vanadium oxide was deposited on TNTs by wet chemical deposition. An improvement in the optical properties of nanotubes was observed after the deposition of vanadium oxide. An improvement in the optical properties (redshift in UV-Vis spectra) of TNTs and TNT/VO was noted. The photocatalytic activity was improved with increasing tube diameter, while it was weakened after the deposition of VO. Furthermore, photoactivity was investigated in photodiodes based on TNTs or TNT/VO and single crystals of CH3NH3PbI3. The photoelectric measurement revealed that different TNT diameters did not influence the I-V characteristic of the photodiodes, while the deposition of VO improved the photocurrent for smaller TNTs.

AB - Multifunctional lignin bio-based adsorbent, b-LMS, was obtained via inverse copolymerization in the suspension of acryloyl modified kraft lignin (KfL-AA) and bio-based trimethylolpropane triacrylate (bio-TMPTA). Morphological and structural characterization of KfL-AA and b-LMS was performed using BET, FTIR, Raman, NMR, TGA, SEM, and XPS techniques. The b-LMS microspheres with 253 ± 42 μm diameters, 69.4 m2 g−1 surface area, and 59% porosity efficiently adsorb Malachite Green (MG), Tartrazine (T), and Methyl Red (MR) dye. The influence of pH, pollutant concentration, temperature, and time on the removal efficiency was studied in a batch mode. Favorable and spontaneous processes with high adsorption capacities e.g. 116.8 mg g−1 for MG, 86.8 mg g−1 for T, and 68.6 mg g−1 for MR indicate the significant adsorptive potential of b-LMS. Results from diffusional and single mass transfer resistance studies indicate that pore diffusion is a rate-limiting step. Theoretical calculations confirmed a higher affinity of b-LMS to cationic dye MG compared with an anionic and neutral one, i.e. T and MR, respectively. The data fitting from a flow system, using semi-empirical equations and Pore Surface Diffusion Modelling (PSDM) provided breakthrough point determination. The results from the desorption and competitive adsorption study proved the exceptional performance of b-LMS. Moreover, sulfation of b-LMS, i.e.production of b-LMS-OSO3H, introduced high-affinity sulfate groups with respect to cationic dye and cations. Developed methodology implements the principle of sustainable development and offers concept whose results contribute to the minimization of environmental pollution.

AB - The rise of innovation in the electrical industry is driven by the controlled design of new materials. The hybrid materials based on magnetite/nanocellulose are highly interesting due to their various applications in medicine, ecology, catalysis and electronics. In this study, the structure and morphology of nanocellulose/magnetite hybrid nanomaterials were investigated. The effect of nanocellulose loading on the crystal structure of synthesized composites was investigated by XRD and FTIR methods. The presented study reveals that the interaction between the cellulose and magnetic nanoparticles depends on the nanocellulose content. Further, a transition from cellulose II to cellulose I allomorph is observed. SEM and EDS are employed to determine the variation in morphology with changes in component concentrations. By the calculation of magnetic interactions between adjacent Fe3+ and Fe2+ ions within composites, it is determined that ferromagnetic coupling predominates.

AB - The effect of Ca2+ amount and sintering temperature on mechanical properties of geopolymer-brushite (GPB) binders was investigated. Brushite and raw abandoned kaolinite clay thermally transformed into metakaolin were used for GPB synthesis. The complete phase and structural analyses were performed by X-ray powder diffraction, and Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The pore-filling effect as a consequence of Ca2+ ions incorporation into the hybrid geopolymer networks improved the compressive strength. On the other hand, the chosen biscuit sintering at 800 and 900oC caused the phase transformation of brushite into calcium pyrophosphate, which negatively affected the compressive strength of such materials. The obtained results indicate that the usage of relatively high sintering temperatures is not always the necessary step for producing geopolymer-based types of cement with prominent mechanical properties.

AB - The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of the deposition of vanadium oxide epitaxial layer on the photoresponse of TiO2/CH3NH3PbI3 heterojunction. TiO2 nanotube array was synthesized via anodization of titanium foil at three different voltages. After annealing at 450 °C, vanadium oxide was deposited by direct deposition from vanadyl(IV) sulfate solution. Microstructure analysis has been used for the investigation of the influence of different voltages of anodization on tube diameter. Spectroscopy measurements pointed out the red shift in diffusion reflectance spectra after deposition of vanadium oxide. The presence of V5+ oxidation state has been detected on the surface of nanotube arrays by chemical analysis. CH3NH3PbI3 monocrystal was dry pressed on top of the nanotubes in order to make a photodiode. The current-voltage characteristics of the photodiode were recorded and it was observed that the sample with the smallest wall thickness and higher amount of vanadium has the best photocurrent response.

AB - In this study, microstructure evolution and dielectric properties of SrTiO3 ceramic have been investigated, whereby mechanical activation of SrTiO3 powders was used to modify the functional properties of ceramic materials. Microstructural SEM analysis of SrTiO3 ceramics showed that the increase in mechanical activation time results in less porous samples. Raman spectroscopy indicated changes in the broadening and asymmetry of the TO2 mode with a change in the time of mechanical activation. TO2 mode showed a Fano asymmetry due to its interaction with polarization fluctuations in polar micro-regions, which are a consequence of the presence of oxygen vacancies caused by activation. The maximum value of dielectric permittivity was observed in the sample activated for 10 min. Also, the sample activated for 10 min exhibits relatively low values of loss tangent, compared to the other mechanically activated samples, providing the best overall dielectric performance compared to other samples.

AB - The effects of different freezing methods and long-term frozen storage on quality of strawberry and raspberry were investigated, that is, the retention of initial property and free radical scavenging (AO) activity after individual quick freezing (IQF) and conventional (discontinuous) freezing. The physicochemical properties, vitamin C, and AO activity were more affected by long-term frozen storage than by freezing itself; however, their better retention was obtained after IQF. Moreover, AO activity was found to be higher in frozen samples compared to fresh fruits, but significant decrease was detected after 8 months of frozen storage. Despite the significantly higher initial content of vitamin C in strawberry, it demonstrated a lower AO activity than raspberry. Sensory attributes were significantly affected by freezing; the most considerable changes were recorded on their texture/firmness, especially after conventional (slow) freezing. Therefore, IQF can generally be suggested as a more suitable method of preserving these delicate fruits than slow freezing. Practical applications Nowadays, consumers are increasingly interested in foods that possess not only good nutritional value but also health-promoting property. Berries are known as rich sources of micronutrients and antioxidant compounds, but consumption of fresh strawberry and raspberry fruits may be limited because of seasonal and market availability; therefore, they must be preserved commonly by freezing. Frozen food industry is of crucial importance for developing countries, in which the fast freezing industry is rapidly developed. Investigation of the effect of industrial freezing and frozen storage on retention of the quality-related property and antioxidant activity is important for providing the best quality for consumers and health benefits, as well as international fruit trade. In addition, the results obtained in this study could provide best practice and guidance for the frozen fruit industry.

AB - Performing works with the land where a lot of mechanical work is engaged, such as making pits for planting fruit, needs to be mechanized. This replaces human labour with a tractor machine aggregate with an increase in productivity and thus makes the process cheaper. For the proper selection of individual means of mechanization, it is important to determine the optimal
agrotechnical parameters of their application. Proper selection and use of mechanization tools for planting have a decisive influence on the intensity and progress in cultivation technology. Defining
energy and exploitation parameters of tractor-machine aggregates during mechanized construction of pits is the subject of this research. The pits are intended for individual planting of
fruit seedlings as well as the installation of trellis poles. The test results of the tractor-machine aggregate show that the lowest driving force engaged for drilling was achieved in the field and
was 6.36 kW for the excavated pit with the depth of 885 mm and with a diameter of 520 mm, the number of revolutions of the drill was 93 rpm and drilling was achieved in 27 s. The highest
driving force for drilling was engaged in field III, which was 30.8 kW for the excavated pit 780 mm deep with a diameter of 490 mm, the number of revolutions of the drill bit was 111 rpm and
drilling was realized in 30 s. The results obtained in these tests show that the consumption of motor power largely depends on the type of soil, the quality of previous soil preparations and the number of revolutions of the tractor PTO shaft. The time required to move the aggregate from one to the next drilling site is crucially influenced by the terrain configuration, the state of soil preparation and the skill of the tractor driver and auxiliary worker.

AB - Hay is a bulky part of the meal that is most often used in the winter period of the
year in all types of ruminants, while the role of hay in the meal of high-milk cows is invaluable.
The most common way to produce hay is to dry the cut grass on the surface of the land in the field,
using the energy of the sun. In the process of hay production, there is a reduction of nutrients in
relation to the green mass, where the achieved yield and quality of hay largely depends on the
technological operations that are performed during storage. In the baling process, the dried mass
is exposed to the mechanical treatment of the working elements of the press, as a result of which
the leaf mass decreases. Loss of leaf mass, which contains a large amount of nutrients, can greatly
affect the achieved yield and quality of the obtained hay. One of the possibilities to reduce losses is
the application of "DewPoint" technology, which involves the use of water vapor in the baling
process. The steam produced by the device is injected into the mass-hay after lifting by the pickup
device and further until the mass enters the pressing chamber. Mass treatment is achieved by
injecting steam through a series of nozzles located inside the press. Water vapor is an extremely
efficient medium for the controlled hydration of hay during the baling process, where
approximately 450 l of water vapor can be produced from 1 l of water. By applying this
technology, water consumption is 5-7 l per 1 t of hay, producing 2250-3150 l of water vapor. This
amount of steam enables efficient treatment of individual plants (tree, leaf) in a mass of 1t to the
desired humidity level.

AB - The application of precision agriculture in chemical plant protection enables the
realization of high yields while preserving natural resources. The quality of chemical applications
depends on the type of technical system that performs for this job. The task of the technical system
is to protect the cultivated crop precisely, economically and while preserving the environment, and
all that depends on the precission and the quality of application of the protective liquid. The use of
UAV´s in chemical plant protection enables precise application of protective liquid, so their
application is increasing in the protection of numerous crops. The same trend has been observed
in field production, where the use of UAV´s is on the rise. The paper compares the exploatational
and technological characteristics of the field sprayer (FS) and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in
the chemical protection of wheat. The amount of deposited protective liquid on plants and losses of
deposited on the surface of the earth were monitored. Using UAV (T4: V = 3 m·s-1
, H = 1 m), the
amount of protective liquid on the plant was determined to be 0.185 mg·l-1
compared to 0.037 mg·l 1
at FS, while the losses were 0.01 mg·l-1
at FS and 0.085 mg·l-1
at UAV. The presence of Fusarium
(Fusarium spp.) after chemical protection was analyzed according to the compared technical
systems and set treatments. It was recorded for 20% higher efficiency in protection against
Fusarium (Fusarium spp.) using UAV (T5: V = 3 m·s-1
, H = 2 m) compared to FS. The values of
wheat yield were measured according to the compared technical systems and set treatments, where
the highest wheat yield was achieved using UAV (T5) with 10,667.7 kg·ha-1
, while using FS,
14.84% lower yield was achieved. The application of UAV´s in the segment of chemical plant
protection enables us to effectively protect crops, economical and optimized production, while
preserving the environment in a way that has been completely new and unknown until now.

AB - The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of vanadium oxide photosensitive surface layer on the photoactivity of TiO2 nanotubes. Nanotube arrays were synthesized by anodization of titanium foil at different voltages, and vanadium-oxide was deposited by wet chemical deposition. Deposition of the vanadium-oxide layer was confirmed by XPS analysis, which provided the chemical composition of the sample surface. Photovoltaic characteristics and photocatalytic performance for photodegradation of methyl orange dye of modified TiO2 nanotubes were correlated with the nanotube morphology (and anodization voltage). Optimal anodization voltage was determined, in conjunction with the deposition of the surface vanadium oxide layer, in order to achieve maximum performance of the modified TiO2 electrodes. This has been correlated with changes in the optical properties of the TiO2 electrodes, the nanotube length and diameter, as they occur with the change in the anodization voltage, as well as the changes in the vanadium-oxide content in the samples, where the vanadium-oxide content was found to be determined by the nanotube morphology. The photovoltaic performance of the optimized modified TiO2 electrode with the surface vanadium-oxide layer was found to be significantly better than both the performance of the corresponding TiO2 electrode, and the performance of all the other TiO2 electrodes included in the study.

AB - In recent years, a lot of interest has been shown in obtaining materials with predetermined properties. The aim is to establish a functional dependence between the synthesis parameters, structural characteristics, and properties of the material. Ceramic materials based on strontium titanate (SrTiO3) are of special interest due to their unique physical-chemical properties. Having in mind the importance of examining the influence of synthesis parameters on the process of obtaining and properties of functional electroceramic materials, and the importance of SrTiO3 as a perovskite material, the motive was to analyze and consider the influence of mechanical activation. It has been established that the time of mechanical activation (0, 10, 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes) of SrTiO3 powders indirectly affects on electrical properties of SrTiO3 ceramics. It was noticed that in SrTiO3 ceramics the values of relative dielectric permittivity in the radio frequency range (0,3 MHz - 3 GHz) are stable, which is important for the fabrication of electronic components. Microstructural SEM analysis showed that the increase in mechanical activation time results in less porous samples. It was found that the value of the relative dielectric permittivity of ceramic samples at room temperature changes following the combined effect of changes in sample density, grain size, as well as changes in the grain boundary region. The maximum value of dielectric permittivity was observed in the sample activated for 10 minutes. Also, the sample activated for 10 min exhibits relatively low values of loss tangent, compared to the other mechanically activated samples, providing the best overall dielectric performance compared to other samples.

AB - Red pepper (Capsicum annum) fruits contain high amount of ascorbic acid (vitamin C), which is of
great importance for human health. The aim of this study was to found how various pretreatments
and drying methods influence on retention of ascorbic acid in dried pepper. The cultivar “Horgoška
sweet 6”, often used for the production of paprika, was selected for analysis. Five sets of
experiments were performed to investigate the effect of the following parameters: pretreatment
temperature (20 oC, 50 oC, 80 oC), pH value (3, 6.5, 10), additive (0.25% citric acid, 0.25 %
potassium metabisulfite and 0.25 % citric acid + 0.25 % potassium metabisulfite), ultrasound (off
and on) and drying method (hot air drying and freeze drying). The initial content of ascorbic acid in
fresh pepper was 292 mg/100 g dry basis (d.b.) and it was reduced after all pretreatment and after
drying of pretreated samples. Most of examined pre-drying treatments improve retention of ascorbic
acid in final dried peppers, except treatments at 80 oC. Our results indicate that temperature and
drying method were parameters that significantly influenced ascorbic acid content in dried peppers.
Other parameters were not significant, but had a certain effect on retention of ascorbic acid. The
best parameters were temperature 20 oC, pH 6.5, citric acid/potassium metabisulfite, without
applying ultrasound including freeze drying method.

AB - This paper presents an analytical algorithm with appropriate software specified for the approximation of the allowed critical slope of the solid flat terrain that guarantees static and/or dynamic stability of the specified self-propelled agricultural machines and their aggregates. This algorithm assumes machine as a rigid body, having 3 or 4 contact points (defined by wheels or crawlers), under uniform motion at different constant velocities and radii of curvature trajectories. Using this algorithm, based on the principles of theoretical mechanics combined with 3D analytical geometry, the computer program SSPM (stability of the self-propelled agricultural machines) has been coded. This software is intended to facilitate the analysis, comparison and optimization of different configurations of self-propelled agricultural machines in operation on horizontal and sloped flat terrains at constant velocities and radii of trajectory with respect to their static and dynamic stability. It calculates critical pitch and roll angles of the selfpropelled machine and the maximum allowed slope of the flat terrain under the given conditions. The algorithm and the appropriate SSPM software were experimentally verified using the platform and low-scale tractor model. Average difference between calculated and experimental critical values of roll and pitch angles were about 4 degrees

AB - The changes in the Raman spectra of electronic materials obtained from mechanically activated BaTiO3 and SrTiO3 powders, with or without additives, are presented in this paper. Mechanical activation, performed in a high-energy planetary ball mill, was chosen as the method for the production of fine-grained nanocrystalline powders with an increased surface activity and an altered micro and/or crystal structure. Having in mind the growing relevance of the development of multiferroic materials, the analysis of Raman spectra was used not only for the structural investigations of the mechanically activated undoped titanate powder, but also for the examination of the mechanically activated Fe/BaTiO3 system and the subsequent hexaferrite formation during the sintering process. Additionally, Raman spectroscopy was applied in the study of the emergence of electroactive crystalline phases in nanocomposites based on semi-crystalline fluoropolymers, such as PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride), in the case when mechanically activated BaTiO3 powder was used as a filler in the polymer matrix. Furthermore, the effects of the mechanical activation of SrTiO3 powder on the occurrence of polar nano and micro-regions at room temperature, as well as the simultaneous influence of activation and MnO2 addition on structural changes in ceramic SrTiO3 samples, have also been analysed using Raman spectroscopy.

AB - The aim of this research is to study the drying kinetics of vacuum-dried and freeze-dried bee honey produced from two different varieties: Sunflower honey (Helianthus Annuus L.) and Acacia honey (Robinia pseudo acacia L.). Vacuum drying treatments were carried out with the honey samples' initial temperatures of +25 degrees C, -20 degrees C, and -40 degrees C. Water content, total soluble solids, as well as the water activity of fresh and dried honey samples were determined. Freeze-drying of bee honey with initial sample temperature of -40 degrees C has resulted in shorter drying time (7-9 hours), moisture content (10%-12%), water activity (0.405-0.427 aW) and effective moisture diffusivity coefficient (8.26.10-7-9.51.0-7 m(2)/s). The high-performance liquid chromatography method was used when analyzing the impact that drying pre-treatments had on honey quality. The application of pre-treatments has led to an increase in hydroxy-methyl-furfural by 39-71%, and a decrease in diastase activity by 17-36%, all compared to fresh honey samples. The solutions of Verma model proved to be the best fit with the experimental results.

AB - The aim of this research was to study the impact of application technique and rate of liquid starter fertilizer applied with a novel device on the production of corn. Starter fertilizer was applied in the root system range of freshly germinated plants in the 'belt' and 'point' forms at different quantities (35, 50, 70, and 100 L ha(-1)), which led to intensive plant growth in the initial stages of development. This adapted system was used for sowing and for application of the liquid starter fertilizer at the same time. The field trial was set up at two sites (two different land types), in the conditions of the natural water regime of the soil during the three vegetation seasons in the period 2016-2018. For this purpose, a prototype of the electronic device EUKU-01 was designed. The starter fertilizer was applied at 5 cm laterally from the row where the sowing was performed and 5 cm below the depth at which the corn seeds were sown. Data were statistically analyzed by two-factor analysis of variance, where the influence of mineral fertilizer treatment and the influence of liquid starter fertilizer treatment were observed as factors. The results showed that the optimal choice of the technique of liquid starter fertilizer application can result in fertilizer savings by 30% without reducing yield.
