AB - This paper involves the numerical analysis of fatigue behaviour of welded joints made of steel SA-387 Gr. 91, with special attention devoted to its regions, which have very different mechanical and fatigue properties. Extensive experimental research, which was performed in order to obtain the coefficients necessary for the analysis of fatigue life of structures and parts made of this steel, was used as the base for the finite element method simulation, performed in ANSYS R19.2. Due to the typical applications of steels from this group, all experiments were performed at elevated temperature of 575 °C, which corresponds to the exploitation conditions for this material. Obtained results have shown noticeable difference in fatigue crack growth resistance of different welded joint regions, as was expected from the experimental results.

AB - Successful application of Cr-Mo steel depends crucially on behaviour of all zones in welded joints, i.e. base metal (BM), heat-affected-zone (HAZ) and weld metal (WM), both at room and working temperature. Different amplitude loadings were applied for testing of specimens without a crack, made of welded joint as a whole and of BM, in order to obtain Woehler's curves and compare their dynamic strength. Amplitude loading was also applied for testing of specimens cracked in BM, HAZ and WM, in order to get fatigue crack growth curves and parameters C and m in Paris law. Results are analysed to get deeper insight into behaviour of welded joints, made of steel SA 387 Gr. 91, under amplitude loading both for room and working temperature.

AB - The welded joint is heterogeneous in its microstructure, mechanical and geometrical properties, thus the stress field is affected by different factors as well as by residual stress. Therefore, special procedures are needed for experimentally determining the fracture toughness in plane strain, K-Ic, and the impact toughness, usually associated with difficulties in interpreting the measured values. Notched specimens are tested by instrumented Charpy in order to determine impact energy and crack initiation and propagation energies. The pre-cracked specimens are tested by standard, using three-point bending specimens, as geometrically closest to Charpy specimens. In both cases, the notch and crack are located in all various regions of the welded joint of the high-strength low alloyed steel NIONIKRAL-70. Analysis of the results includes speculations on the ratio of energies for crack initiation and propagation vs. fracture toughness.

AB - Based on experience from the testing of the mining stacker in the copper mine in Bor, a practical procedure of frequency simulation of the enforced vibration of the structure was demonstrated. Modelling of the excitation was performed by the harmonic function of the eccentric mass of the belt conveyor drive. The paper shows how the drive frequency excitation affects the amplitude of vibration of the supporting structure. From this, the idea is presented - an algorithm for software that would allow for keeping the dynamic properties of the members of the structure within controlled range. An experiment for accelerating the structure and its FFT analysis in the frequency domain was performed. Dynamic modelling of the structure allows obtaining the objectivised concept of the measurement system for monitoring based on the given level of dynamic sensitivity of the parts of the structure.

AB - Austempered ductile iron (ADI) proved to be an excellent material as it possesses attractive properties: high strength, ductility and toughness are combined with good wear resistance and machinability. These properties can be achieved upon adequate heat treatment which yields optimum microstructure for a given chemical composition. In this paper an investigation has been conducted on ADI alloyed with 0.45%Cu and austempered in a range of times and temperatures. The microstructure and fracture mode developed throughout these treatments have been identified by means of light and scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis. It was shown that strength, elongation and impact energy strongly depend on amounts of bainitic ferrite and retained austenite. Based on these results an optimal processing window has been established.

AB - Our aim is to improve the existing results concerning asymptotic stability of a particular class of linear discrete time delay systems. This paper extends one of the basic results in the area of Lyapunov (asymptotic) to linear, discrete, time invariant time-delay systems. This result is given in the form of only sufficient conditions and represent further improvement of the existing results concerning the asymptotic stability of systems described by vector state representation of the form x(k + 1) = A(o)x(k) + A(1)x(k - 1). This result is less conservative than those in existing literature. To the best knowledge of the authors, such result have not yet been reported.
