Wheel-rail contact forces measurements using strain gauges applied on the rails

AB  - The paper presents practical application of originally developed method for wayside measurements of wheelrail contact forces using strain gauges and an overview of recently developed similar methods presented by different authors. Presented methods were compared and some of their advantages and disadvantages were identified, including convenience for practical use. Some problems related to preciseness of location of the strain gauges application were emphasized. The main task for achieving reliable and accurate measurement
results using any method is to identify locations on the rail where it is possible to avoid crosstalk and to separate influence of the vertical forces and contact point position on the lateral forces measurements. Although different authors identified such locations, it appeared that in real on-site measurements due to existence of geometry imperfections of the rails, non-uniform foundation stiffness and other influencing conditions, calibration and some post-processing of the recorded data is often needed. Also, in order to obtain reliable results involvement of alternative ways for validation of the obtained results is very welcome including use of  alternative methods like identification of the contact point(s) and comparison with calibration curve families.

AB  - Rad prikazuje neke poteškoće koje imaju putnici pri ulasku u voz. Prikazane su i razmotrene visine perona prema međunarodnim železničkim propisima. Dat je pregled visine perona na srpskim prugama i visine poda putničkih kola, dizel i električnih višedelnih jedinica za prigradski i regionalni saobraćaj. Rad se fokusira na razlikama između politike nabavke, u odnosu na kompatibilnost ulazišta sa peronima, dizel i električnih višedelnih jedinica Železnice Srbije i posledicama ovih nabavki.
AB  - This paper shows some of the passenger difficulties when boarding trains. Overview of platform heights is discussed in accordance with international railway regulation. An overview of platform heights at Serbian railway lines and floor heights of passenger coaches, diesel units and electric multiple units for suburban and regional railway transport are shown. This paper is focused on the differences between procurement policy, regarding doorway compatibility with platforms, of diesel and electric multiple units for Serbian Railways and consequences of these acquisitions.

Axial crushing analysis of characteristics of empty and foam filled circular tubes

AB  - This paper describes experimental research of improved type of collision kinetic energy absorber. Absorber
works on the principle of shrinking a foam filled tube of circular cross section. During collision, a seamless
tube is passing through a special cone bush, extrusion the tube and compressing the foam. Energy is
absorbed by the plastic deformation of the tube, friction between the tube and the cone bush and through
deformation of the PU foam. The tubes were filled with PU foam higher density. This new type of absorber
enables gradual increase of deformation resistance and greater absorption power with compact dimensions.
Scaled samples have been tested in the laboratory conditions. The influence of the PU foam and different
geometries on absorption characteristics, as well as the benefits of using such an absorber, are presented
and discussed in this paper. The results show that the foam filled absorber has approximately 12% higher
absorption power than the only extrusion absorber by itself.

Design specificity of Eams-z self-propelled wagon

AB  - Self-propelled wagon Eams-Z inteded for bulk material transportation provides enhancement in railway infrastructure construction and maintenance. Its main advantage is possibility of manipulation along tracks and construction material discharging without use of locomotive. Thus this car saves energy, human resources, and shortens the time of transportation and unloading. The car has two crates with the possibility of side and frontal inclining using hydraulic cylinders. These cylinders provide controlled and precise unloading of cargo on 3 sides without need of any extra man or machine power. Power pack, consisting of Iveco engine, hydro transmission and two small wheels without flange is  positioned in the middle of the car between the bogies. In the self-propelled regime wheels lower down to rails providing traction force needed for wagon manipulation. This car type requires special attention during design and calculations in order to achieve safe manipulation in all regimes.

AB  - Compared to manual inspection, which is inconsistent and subjective, sorters are able to assure product quality and food safety by more effectively identifying and removing defects and foreign material, while at the same time reducing labor costs and improving operating efficiencies. In this paper we analyzed color of the green beans in the way to find certain parameter which defined good color, acceptable for consumers because homogeneity and appearance have a significant impact on the consumer's decision and to see does and how different lighting effect on the color. The color recorded in the image is not an inherent value of observed object, because it is also influenced by the illumination properties (illuminance, spectral intensity distribution, color rendering index), as well as geometry and surfaces of neighboring objects. The CIE La*b* color space gave good results in a way that it define better the ranges of parameter a*.

AB  - Povećanje konkuretnosti železničkih transportnih sistema u odnosu na druge vidove transportnih sistema u poslednjih šezdeset godina rezultat je intenzivnog razvoja novih generacija brzih vozova. Ove vrste vozova ne samo da zadovoljavaju potrebe za povećanom brzinom prevoza, a tako i kraće vreme putovanja, već i zahteve za povećanje pouzdanosti, sigurnosti i direktne primene energetske efikasnosti na sam sistem transporta. Sa povećanjem brzine vozova, povećavaju se i otpori kretanja, pri čemu pri brzinama većim od 200 km/h udeo otpora vazduha postaje najdominantniji član. Jedna od najefikasnijih mera za smanjenje otpora vazduha, kao i ostalih negativnih posledica koje nastaju pri kretanju velikim brzinama, je razvoj aerodinamičkog oblika voza. U ovom radu su predstavljena neka od konstrukcionih rešenja koja utiču na aerodinamičke karakteristike vozova velikih brzina, pre svega oblik čeonog dela, kao i sličnosti i razlike pojedinih podsistema neophodnih za funkcionisanje savremenih železničkih sisteme vozova velikih brzina. Analizirana su dva pristupa rešavanja problema aerodinamičkog oblika voza i odgovarajuće infrastructure na primeru Japana i Francuske. Razmatrana su dva modela voza velikih brzina, Shinkansen (Japan) i TGV odnosno AGV (Francuska.).
AB  - Increased advantages of railway transportation systems over other types of transportation systems in the past sixty years have been a result of an intensive development of the new generations of high-speed trains. Not only do these types of trains comply with the need for increased speed of transportation and make the duration of the journey shorter, but they also meet the demands for increased reliability, safety and direct application of energy efficiency to the transportation system itself. Along with increased train speed, the motion resistance is increased as well, whereby at speeds over 200 km/h the proportion of air resistance becomes the most dominant member. One of the most efficient measures for reducing air resistance, as well as other negative consequences of high-speed motion, is the development of the aerodynamic shape of the train. This paper presents some construction solutions that affect the aerodynamic properties of high-speed trains, first and foremost, the nose shape, as well as the similarities and differences of individual subsystems necessary for the functioning of modern high-speed rail systems. We analysed two approaches to solving the problem of the aerodynamic shape of the train and the appropriate infrastructure using the examples of Japan and France. Two models of high-speed trains, Shinkansen (Japan) and TGV, i.e. AGV (France), have been discussed.

U ovom radu su predstavljena neka od konstrukcionih rešenja koja utiču na aerodinamičke karakteristike vozova velikih brzina, pre svega oblik čeonog dela, kao i sličnosti i razlike pojedinih podsistema neophodnih za funkcionisanje savremenih železničkih sisteme vozova velikih brzina. Analizirana su dva pristupa rešavanja problema aerodinamičkog oblika voza i odgovarajuće infrastructure na primeru Japana i Francuske. Razmatrana su dva modela voza velikih brzina, Shinkansen (Japan) i TGV odnosno AGV (Francuska.)., Increased advantages of railway transportation systems over other types of transportation systems in the past sixty years have been a result of an intensive development of the new generations of high-speed trains. Not only do these types of trains comply with the need for increased speed of transportation and make the duration of the journey shorter, but they also meet the demands for increased reliability, safety and direct application of energy efficiency to the transportation system itself. Along with increased train speed, the motion resistance is increased as well, whereby at speeds over 200 km/h the proportion of air resistance becomes the most dominant member. One of the most efficient measures for reducing air resistance, as well as other negative consequences of high-speed motion, is the development of the aerodynamic shape of the train. This paper presents some construction solutions that affect the aerodynamic properties of high-speed trains, first and foremost, the nose shape, as well as the similarities and differences of individual subsystems necessary for the functioning of modern high-speed rail systems. We analysed two approaches to solving the problem of the aerodynamic shape of the train and the appropriate infrastructure using the examples of Japan and France. Two models of high-speed trains, Shinkansen (Japan) and TGV, i.e. AGV (France), have been discussed.",

AB  - In this paper an analysis of possible causes of crack occurrence on reconstructed diesel multiple units (DMU) exploited on sideline in Serbia was performed. Analyzed DMU were designed in the sixties of the last century in accordance with standards and UIC regulations of that time. During exploitation cracks appeared on the frame of the running bogie and they were locally repaired. With the purpose of eliminating this negative occurrence that has been reducing the availability of DMU, reconstruction of primary suspension and reconstruction of the DMU running bogie frame was performed. The new construction solution of primary suspension is with rubber springs. In the designing of the new running bogie frame fatigue loads were taken into account. After approximately two and a half years of exploitation, cracks appeared again on frames of the running bogie of DMU and they are the subject of this work. This work gives an analysis of the cause of crack occurrence and investigates links between specific exploitation conditions on tracks of Serbian railways and calculations/investigations performed using currently valid UIC regulations. The analysis also includes other influential factors such as welding quality, track quality, DMU and track maintenance quality.

AB  - Razvoj elemenata za apsorbciju energije sudara je sastavni deo pasivne zaštite putničkih vagona. Pasivna zaštita ima zadatak da posledice sudara svede na minimum. Apsorber prikazan u radu napravljen je od standardne bešavne cevi u kvalitetu P235T1 i konusnog prstena kvaliteta C45E. Predstavljeno rešenje se zasniva na korišćenju specijalnih elemenata koji apsorbuju određenu količinu kinetičke energije sudara putem kontrolisane plastične deformacije, čime se značajno smanjuje deo energije koji se prenosi na noseću strukturu vozila. Pri sudaru dolazi do sabijanja-provlačenja cevi kroz konusni prsten. Težište rada je na eksperimentalnim istraživanjima radi određivanja stvarnih karakteristika apsorbera ovog tipa. Na osnovu analize dobijenih rezultata ispitivanja, predloženo je konačno konstruktivno rešenje apsorbera, kao elementa buduće konstrukcije čeonog dela postolja vagona.
AB  - Development of collision energy absorbing elements is a constituent part of passive protection of passenger coaches. The target of passive protection is to minimize the collision consequences. The absorber, described in this paper, is constructed from a standard seamless tube of the quality P235T1 and conical ring of the quality C45E. The solution presented is based on the application of special elements that absorb a certain amount of collision kinetic energy by means of controlled plastic deformation, significantly decreasing the part of the energy which is transferred to the vehicle bearing structure. The tube is compressed - pushed through the conical ring in collision. The paper focuses on the quasi-static and dynamics experimental research. Based on the analysis of the results obtained in the research, a final design of the absorber is suggested as a part of the future front part of vehicle bearing structure.
