Architectural Design Influences and HVAC Systems' Measures on Energy Savings of a High Energy Demand Residential Building
Abstract
This paper discusses the energy saving measures for a residential building in Belgrade, Serbia, by investigating the influences of architectural measures and HVAC systems' measures on its energy performance. The residential building selected for this case study is a high energy consumption house with challenging ventilation requirements, located on a narrow and inclined site with particularly obstructed orientation for its climate zone. Simultaneously, this paper accentuates inaccuracies of energy efficiency regulations in Serbia that merely monitor energy consumption for heating and not at all for ventilation. The PHPP2007 software of the Passive House Institute, Darmstadt, Germany, was used in this research for the reason that it operates with the entirety of energy consumption measures. It allowed demonstrating the results of systematic computer simulations and energy performance studies conducted for a period of one year for the residential building selected and in climate conditio...ns of the Belgrade region.
