AB - As we progress toward net zero energy - efficient solutions, it becomes increasingly important to
have more quality CFD models on thermal comfort and indoor environmental quality. Based on
experimental data collected, there was an analysis of statistical data and variation of mathematical
CFD models. The proposed models are built into a numerical code of the commercial software
PHOENICS. While investigating, special attention was paid to the influence of production and
dissipation terms of turbulent kinetic energy due to the fluctuation of body forces. Parametric
analysis was conducted on the the basic model, which is characterized by the fact that the
turbulent model and heat transfer by radiation model is built-in. A statistical analysis of a complex
array has been conducted, so additional statistical indicators have given the right information
about the model quality. Based on the results of the numericals models, it was shown that the
variation of transparence in a model of radiation and coefficient of dissipation in turbulence
model have a dominant role on local parameters in PMV indicators of thermal comforts models.

AB - According to the various researches, the people spend the most of their time indoors which is directly connected to the necessity of adequate indoor air quality. The question of the indoor air quality is of a special importance in educational buildings having in mind the large number of occupants, their health and impact on learning capabilities. The paper deals with the analysis of the indoor air quality in university classroom, using the results of measurements of CO2 concentration and statistical survey among the occupants’ which was performed during the winter semester. The measurements were performed during four weeks, together with the occupants’ survey. Measuring parameters were indoor air temperature, relative humidity and CO2 concentration. The results showed that the higher concentrations of CO2 measured in classroom caused the symptoms such as stuffiness, sleepiness, reduced concentration, headache
and hard breathing. During the fourth week of measurements, when the average CO2 concentration was about 2050 ppm in classroom, about 65% of students’ voted that the indoor air quality in classroom was poor or very poor and felt some of the symptoms such as stuffiness, sleepiness, reduced concentration and hard breathing, while 15% stated that they had all these symptoms. The analysis of occupants’ evaluation regarding the poor indoor air quality impact on their concentration ability showed that subjective feelings of reduced concentration ability were the lowest when the measured CO2 concentration in classroom was also the lowest.

AB - The paper deals with a comprehensive CFD analysis of local
thermal comfort indices in occupied classroom during the
winter semester and the impact on students’ productivity loss.
The investigation is done using CFD software, using a
measured data as an input for initial conditions. The
measurements were done in representative classroom at Faculty
of Mechanical engineering, University of Belgrade, Serbia
during the four weeks in November and December 2015. The
research consisted from a four scenarios, each with the different
thermal conditions. The students were predominantly male
population, age between 21 and 30. It is shown that the local
thermal comfort indicators can be pretty much different than an
average value, which implies with the bigger productivity losses
locally. The results also showed that the students seated in a
warmer zone of a classroom had a bigger productivity loss than
the ones in the colder zones. The local air temperature values
varied up to 2°C in comparison with an average value, which
can significantly impact on local thermal comfort. The problem
of productivity loss is very complex having in mind the nature of
the human metabolism, clothing, habits, and total physical
conditions and it always should be observed as an integrated
part of a larger analysis including all these parameters.
