AB  - U prioritetne ciljeve revitalizacija hidroelektrana nakon njihove višedecenijske
eksploatacije svrstavaju se poboljšanje karakteristika hidrauličnih turbina i modernizacija
hidromašinske opreme i pomoćnih sistema. Poboljšanje energetske efikasnosti zajedno sa
povećanjem stepena operativnosti, raspoloživosti i pouzdanosti omogućuju novi eksploatacioni vek
hidroagregata. Pristupi i jasno definisane smernice revitalizacije hidrauličnih turbina proizilaze iz
odluka koje se donose na osnovu pređašnjih iskustva i relevantnih standarda, a nakon utvrđivanja
pouzdanih podataka o postojećem stanju opreme i energetskih karakteristika. U ovom radu je na
primeru HE Bistrica, koja je u predrevitalizacionom statusu, izvršena detaljna analiza energetskih
karakteristika postojeće Fransis turbine primenom savremenih numeričkih simulacija. Numerički
rezultati su validirani pomoću postojećih eksperimentalnih rezultata koji su dobijeni terenskim
ispitivanjima na prototipu. Prikazani rezultati predstavljaju osnovu za dalje definisanje mogućih
modifikacija ili zamene pojedinih komponenata u strujnom prostoru postojeće hidraulične turbine.

AB  - Energy generation in hydropower plants is becoming of greater importance with the introduction of other renewable energy technologies because of its ability to stabilize the grid. The arising issues are that hydropower units are often operated in unfavorable conditions, away from their optimal design domain, and the need for updated hydropower scheduling for optimal water management. With the modern technologies brought by Industry 4.0, potential answers arise to resolve the mentioned issues and to optimize hydropower generation as well as to offer greater reliability. This paper gives a short overview on these technologies and their benefits on maintenance in the field of hydropower.

AB  - Revitalizacija velikih hidroelektrana uglavnom podrazumeva unapređenje radnih parametara velikih hidroagregata, dok se za kućne male hidroagregate, koji se koriste za sopstvenu potrošnju, obično usvajaju gotova postojeća tipska rešenja. Takva tipizacija uskraćuje mogućnost razmatranja više varijantnih rešenja, koja uzimaju u obzir fina poboljšanja energetskih parametara. U cilju celokupnog unapređenja energetske efikasnosti jedne hidroelektrane, razmotrena je mogućnost poboljšanja energetskih karakteristika Pelton turbine kućnog agregata koji je u višedecenijskoj eksploataciji, zadržavajući pri tome postojeće ulazne vrednosti protoka i neto pada. Primenom savremenih preporuka, urađena je uporedna analiza više varijantnih rešenja modernizacije kroz višeparametarsku analizu i projektovanje novog obrtnog kola. U radu su detaljnije prikazana izabrana rešenja kojima je moguće ostvariti povećanje nominalne snage turbine i do 3,5% u odnosu na nominalnu snagu postojeće turbine.

A marine propeller as a hydrokinetic turbine - CFD analysis of energy characteristics

AB  - It is sometimes economically unreasonable to develop specific turbines, but rather to use a well-known concept of a pump in the turbine mode - PAT (Pump As Turbine). Inspired by PAT, the scope of this paper covers the assessments of the possibility to use marine propellers as runners for the hydrokinetic turbines. Numerical analyses are conducted for selected propeller geometry with the aim of evaluating its energy characteristics in the turbine regime. The chosen propeller belongs to the conventional, thoroughly experimentally tested, Wageningen B -screw series. The experimental data were used for validation of the numerical results in propeller regimes. Based on the obtained results, the researched non-optimized turbine in its optimum regime achieves a satisfactory power coefficient which is close to the value of other types of contemporary hydrokinetic turbines efficiencies.

AB  - Digitalization of hydropower plants gives rise to the implementation of new technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, Smart Energy Systems, Smart Grid, Digital Twins, Industrial Internet of Things and others. These technologies can enable both a single hydropower plant and the whole fleet to function reliably and efficiently within the electric grid. By obtaining sensor-based data from in-situ and beyond, analyzing them in real time and comparing with historic data, conclusions can be drawn for optimization, generation and maintenance predictions. This paper summarizes and reviews the modern approach of these new technologies and their benefits which can enhance hydropower operation practice.

AB  - After surveying the existing teaching and research installations with Pelton turbines worldwide, it was concluded that there are no appropriate laboratory installations with a two-nozzle-Pelton turbine. Therefore, the design, techno-economic analysis and construction of one such laboratory installation have been conducted, where all the necessary energy characteristics of Pelton turbines will be tested. This adaptable installation can be used for various researches in order to determine numerous influential geometrical parameters with the aim of optimizing the construction of such type of hydraulic turbines. In addition to presenting the conceptual solution of the installation, the modeling and production of vital parts of the Pelton turbine, applying modern engineering recommendations and techniques are given in the paper.
AB  - Nakon sagledavnja postojećih nastavno-istraživačkih instalacija sa Pelton turbinama u svetu, utvrđeno je da ne postoje odgovarajuće laboratorijske instalacije sa dvomlaznom Pelton turbinom. Stoga se pristupilo projektovanju, tehno-ekonomskoj analizi i izradi jedne takve laboratorijske instalacije na kojoj bi se ispitivale sve potrebne energetske karakteristike Pelton turbine. Predviđena instalacija je adaptibilnog tipa na kojoj se mogu raditi raznovrsna istraživanja u cilju određivanja brojnih uticajnih geometrijskih parametara na optimizaciju konstrukcije ovog tipa hidrauličkih turbina. U radu je, pored prikaza idejnog rešenja instalacije, dato modeliranje i izrada vitalnih delova Pelton turbine primenjujući savremene inženjerske preporuke i tehnike.

Therefore, the design, techno-economic analysis and construction of one such laboratory installation have been conducted, where all the necessary energy characteristics of Pelton turbines will be tested. This adaptable installation can be used for various researches in order to determine numerous influential geometrical parameters with the aim of optimizing the construction of such type of hydraulic turbines. In addition to presenting the conceptual solution of the installation, the modeling and production of vital parts of the Pelton turbine, applying modern engineering recommendations and techniques are given in the paper., Nakon sagledavnja postojećih nastavno-istraživačkih instalacija sa Pelton turbinama u svetu, utvrđeno je da ne postoje odgovarajuće laboratorijske instalacije sa dvomlaznom Pelton turbinom. Stoga se pristupilo projektovanju, tehno-ekonomskoj analizi i izradi jedne takve laboratorijske instalacije na kojoj bi se ispitivale sve potrebne energetske karakteristike Pelton turbine. Predviđena instalacija je adaptibilnog tipa na kojoj se mogu raditi raznovrsna istraživanja u cilju određivanja brojnih uticajnih geometrijskih parametara na optimizaciju konstrukcije ovog tipa hidrauličkih turbina. U radu je, pored prikaza idejnog rešenja instalacije, dato modeliranje i izrada vitalnih delova Pelton turbine primenjujući savremene inženjerske preporuke i tehnike.",
